Great Rain Coat
May 17, 2012
I bought this to wear in the rain in Boston on cool spring and fall days, and it's perfect. Has a zipper, snaps and velcro to keep it shut against the wind, which is awesome, and it's a really sharp looking coat. I bought it in undyed white, and absolutely love it.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great valueGreat coat but not warm enough

I thought this coat would be much warmer but unfortunately it is not. This is more of a light fall/early winter coat that will keep wind and rain out but it is not warm enough for NYC winters. It's very figure flattering and has a cool ribbed detail on the sleeves. The quality and construction is solid as well.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great valueGreat Jacket

This coat runs BIG, I don't care what the other people have said about this jacket, it is huge. Other than than it is great. Have worn in heavy rain and am dry afterward.
Favorite Winter Coat

I had previously purchased the Wakefield without insulation for spring and fall and LOVE IT! I then decided I needed a warmer coat for winter. Spent a month looking and realized what I really wanted was the insulated version so went ahead and made the purchase. The coat is first and foremost, stylish. It looks good with workout wear or a skirt and boots. It is completely waterproof and the insulated version kept me warm and protected from the wind in 15 degree weather. It has a great choice of front closure options. There is a snap at the waist which holds the coat closed when you don't want to zip plus a 2 way zipper and velcro. When I first got it I thought the sleeves were a little long, there is an adjustable strap around the wrist which might need one more tighter option, but I've come to really like the length of the sleeve as it keeps my hands/gloves, warmer and dryer when it is raining or snowing. The sizes for the insulated seem to run a little larger than the non insulated. Overall it is a fantastic coat and I am so glad I found it. There is nothing else like it, particularly when you consider the quality/price relationship!
Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, versatileBest-Ever All Around Coat

My daughter purchased this coat in the unlined version. Her sister and I and two of her friends were so impressed that we all ordered one. I have the lined version in "red" and it is a beautiful dark raspberry color. Since I am usually a "basic black coat" lady, this was a step out of my comfort zone. I have gotten numerous compliments on the color so I don't regret ordering it in red. The insulation, along with the wind and rain proof coating, makes this coat comfortable on all but our coldest winter days. Even so, with a warm wool sweater, it could double as a winter coat in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The fit is perfect. I wear size 4 and the coat in size small is perfect. It is fitted but has enough room for layering or a light jacket underneath. The only drawback for me is the sleeves. I am a true petite at just under 5 feet and the sleeves are long. This will be my winter traveling coat because it will work in many temperatures and in rain or snow. The hood adjusts to fit my small size head so I don't need a hat. It is so well made that I will probably tire of it long before it wears out.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, stylish, fitted like haute coutureGreat Winter Rainy day jacket

True to size, really warm insulated jacket, WATERPROOF, nice longer length (approx 38" back length). I am about 5'2" 100lbs, petite and XS is comfortable with lots of room for some layering. Comfortable, slim fit .
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great valueGorgeous coat but a bit bulky
January 13, 2012
This is a really well-made, high quality coat. The insulation is thin and yet the rib cage felt somewhat restricted/a bit uncomfy. The style is really, really nice. I am thinking of trying the uninsulated Wakefield for fit/comfort. Great colors.
Pros: Great design, Build qualitywarm, but bulky

Beautiful coat, lots of great features, but more bulky than I anticipated. I think I was looking for a warm rain-coat, while this is a water-proof winter coat. The red color is very attractive. The belt was placed higher than I liked (but then I'm long-waisted).

I ordered the Wakefield insulated jacket from Altrec in the Ink Blue color. It's a lovely shade of blue black that's very versatile. I ordered a small (I'm 5'4", about 120 for reference) and I felt that the insulated version ran a little big and is not as fitted as the Wakefield Rain Jacket, which I tried on in the Merrell Store to gauge the sizing. Regardless that it's a bit roomy, it's a lovely jacket and it's keeping me warm and dry in the wet rainy winter weather. So far I have worn it in 6 degree celcius (about 40 degrees F) with a small sweater underneath and have been fine. We'll see how it weathers in even colder temps, I plan to wear layers and make this my go to winter jacket. After I received my coat, two friends ordered it as well and my sister has it also. If that's not a testament to a good coat, I don't know what is! An employee from the Merrell store told me they were going to discontinue this model, so if you're on the fence about getting a new winter coat, I'd suggest ordering it ASAP!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use
