A quality shoe!
March 23, 2012

I've used these boots for a week now and sold on them. They have the best traction I've ever seen. Waterproofing is great! So what I'm not to excited about. Ankle support, there's none. Zip. That's about it except you may need to buy some soles for them. Semi comfortable. I love these shoes for do for me and I think you will too!

Pros: waterproof, durable, excellent traction, breathes well
Cons: no ankle support

Durable and good looking
September 02, 2011

These boots are simply fantastic. Merrell products have demonstrated their experience and knowledge with these boots. They look great and are true to size, I normally wear size 11 shoes but I was afraid that they would run a little bit big, but of course they did their job adjusting to my feet. I still have not really tested them outdoors but soon I'll go hiking in Guatemala and I'm sure they'll provide good arc support and excellent traction. Durability is guarantied. Probably one of the things I don't like is that they're just too heavy, they look great in design but your feet feel the weigh when walking with them. But honestly I don't mind too much about it. Overall I'm very happy with these boots.

Pros: durable, Great design, good arc support, great tracktion
Cons: heavy

So far, so good
May 25, 2011

After a thoughtful research I was between Merrell's Phaser Peak and Merrell's Legacy. Lighter weight and the sole shape were the main factors to choose the Legacy vs. the Phasers. After some days of home boot breaking and a 5 miles field test on an 86º morning I can tell you that so far that my decision was the correct one. The Legacy has an excelent grip and I didn't notice that I was wearing a hiking boots! My only two minor cons: - The Goretex metalic label on the outer side on the boot, my right foot felt it all the trail, I don`t know if it will border another person or not. - The boot's laces are just a very to small.

Pros: traction: excelent, moister drawing: good, weigth: excelent
Cons: gortex metalic label

Solid Boot
May 03, 2011

As with all Merrell footwear, these boots were a quick fit and very comfortable. The Legacy has a heavy duty front end, which does not flex well and cannot be tightened, this results in a bit of stiffness during break in. If you have very narrow feet this may be a problem and I would recommend the Outbound instead. Still overall the Legacy is a nice lightweight boot, waterproof and very durable.

Isle Royale Nat. Park Hike with Son
November 18, 2010

Bought these boot on a recomondation from a friend. Took them out of the box, wore smartwool hiking socks and proceeded to hike 25 miles with 45lb back pack in 4 days. Most comfortable boot I have ever had. Only thing that i found unsual was that I always wear a 10.5 boot and I had to order a 11 to fit properly. the surface that we hiked on was, everything from mud to rock outcropings. the tracktion on these boot are great....made this trip with no blisters or hot spots.....Geo :-)

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

Used for Mountain Biking!!
July 07, 2010

Bought them for a mountain biking trip to Park City/Deer Valley. Worked great. Wore them everywhere. I needed something lighter than my Columbias, they fit the bill.

They are awesome!!
February 25, 2010

I must admit that I was a little hesitant at first to replace my 26 year old Merrill Ventures but they needed way to much overhauling to make it worth it so I purchased these Men's Legacy boots and they are killer. Merrill makes the best hiking gear I've ever worn and I will NEVER buy any other product. Thanks Merrill for consistantly making the "Best,"

Excellent
February 19, 2010

These boots fit. I have a narrow foot and for once my foot fills the boot. Another thing....the laces are not 1 mile too long, they are just right. They are light and very supportive on the ankles for week long backpacking trips with about 35 pounds of weight for a 53 year old man. I like!!

great craftsmanship
December 30, 2009

Excellent fit and finish. The hooks for the laces are all metal - an improvement over the cloth laces on a previous Merrell boot I had purchased. Very light in weight.
