I was really excited when I first saw these shoes--I had to have them! When I finally received them, I was on the fence. I've transitioned to all barefoot shoes and have tried lots of different styles. For me, they were not minimal enough--too much arch support. I ALWAYS wear sz 9 shoes, and these 9 felt a little on the large side (even for barefoot shoes). They also made my feet look huge. I ordered the aluminum, which looked as pictured. Still, they were very cute, and I wanted to love them, but I couldn't justify spending that much on a pair of shoes that I felt lukewarm about. They would probably make a good transition shoe for someone who had never tried barefoot shoes before.
