Great rugged trail running shoe
April 15, 2011
This shoe is a great trail running shoe. I did 30 miles of the rugged Mont Blanc trail in these with no problems. They are a bit wide in the forefoot but I was able to cinch them down enough over my smaller foot. It would be great for a foot that needs a bit more room though. No blister issues though. They have plenty of traction with large lugs for any surface. They do feel a bit clunky on the roads but not terrible. If you're used to the older Montrail models like the Hardrock they are definitely more flexible and nimble than those. They have plenty of rock protection for me and didn't notice anything punching through. Durability has been good, I haven't noticed any excessive wearing of the outsole or upper. The new Fluid Posting for stability I didn't even notice which was great. I don't need much stability support but it's nice to know that I can't feel the hard wall dense foam like I can in some shoes. If you're looking for a comparison it's got more support than the Brooks Cascadia and less than a Brooks Adrenaline or Asics 2060 Trail. Somewhere kinda in between. Great all around trail shoe though that will fit a wider full volume foot.
