4 season trail shoe Summer bake to Winter flake this shoe performs. I used it in August at near 100 degrees trailrunning lava and yesterday at 10 degrees snowshoeing. Change of socks and I was good to go. They are stable and supportive, provide more than adequate protection while still giving feedback. Waterproofing works for the occasional misstep and/or trail slush. December 5, 2011
Great all around shoe I initially purchased these shoes for hiking and dog agility, but after having them for a while I am wearing them as casual shoes also. They are very comfortable and the sizing is spot on for me (11). Traction has been excellent doing agility, making quick turns and stops on both grass and dirt with confidence. The Gore Tex is a nice feature when you are in morning grass wet with dew. Socks stay dry. I like the fit and comfort while hiking, running or around town, and they look nice too. I like these Montrails so much that I ordered a pair of Fairhavens, and after seeing these my wife is wants a pair too. Thanks Altrec December 3, 2011
These shoes seemed too bulky and wide for my feet, though I tend to have a narrow foot. The look of these shoes is great, but I would not recommend them unless you have a wide foot. May 15, 2011
Amazing Shoes! Look no further than the Masochist Gtx 2 for your 1 quiver, all-purpose shoe. This shoe is super light, perhaps lighter than it may appear in the photos, especially with the Gore-tex membrane. They feel as light and springy as top-end new balance and asics running shoes. It has a roomy toe-box with stout reinforcements at the toe without adding bulk. Incredibly supportive with perfectly balanced air cushions in the forefoot and heel. They have been mistaken by many as a casual shoe for wearing out on the town. These shoes also breathe extremely well and have amazing traction for all surfaces and conditions. Add to that the Gore-tex protection, and you have quite simply the best shoe on the market in my opinion. As for size, go with what you would normally buy for a running/tennis shoe. Enjoy! An improvement on an already excellent shoe This is the second pair of mountain masochist GTXs in the last 6 months. The previous pair was on sale probably because they were last year's model. This new version seems lighter and slightly more flexible possibly due to the decreased leather on the arch side of the shoe. I've worn these shoes on a dozen 2-4 mile dog walks and done several 1-3 mile runs with them. They've always been comfortable and done a reasonably good job of keeping dirt and gravel out of my socks. The toe box seems fairly wide which is good because my feet are shaped like swim fins with a narrow heel and wide front. I also have very flat feet and find these and all Montrail shoes extremely comfortable for up to 6 hours of walking in various conditions with various loads. January 23, 2011
awesome GTX pair These Montrail GTX shoes is what you need for all activities. It will last , its stylish ,very comfortable (heel support is soft and firm). Never imagined that will be that comfortable , i only was looking for a durable gtx shoes but i won all chips October 13, 2010
