Great one or two night pack
August 19, 2011

First pack I have purchased from Mountain Hardware. Quality is fantastic. Size could be a bit larger in order to carry a solid weekend's worth of clothes, gear, etc. Lots of places to put things. Pockets are well thought out.

Perfect for short hikes
March 05, 2012

I bought this for my wife intended for our day hikes. For the price, it is a good bargain. I don't recommend this pack for extended day hikes unless you have someone else to share the load. The space is limited unless you have the high end lightweight compact equipment. If you are over 6 ft tall, you will have a difficult time with fit adjustment. IF you have large hips, then you will also have a hard time with adjustment and reach-ability. The hip pockets are a poor design in that they will not hold a iPhone. They are very small and hard to reach. The clips for the chest strap and hips are not the best and may slip. Other than that it is a above average pack for the right size person.

Pros: Build quality, Great value, Cons: hip pockets are small

Excellent daypack for long trips!
September 11, 2011

I used this backpack daily for a 2-week trip to China and it was a phenomenal asset! The large capacity made it easy to tote a jacket & other daily necessities while touring about and climbing The Great Wall. Note: Although the capacity is quite large, the pack itself isn't. This pack isn't at all cumbersome. In fact, the design is so great and lightweight that it was very comfortable to carry. The fit on this backpack is great as the straps are slighter than regular packs and the fit more tailored to the shape of one's body so that it hugs one's frame rather than slipping off one's shoulders & back as many packs typically do. I really liked that it has so many smaller compartments, which are easy to access, as it made it easy & efficient to separate supplies. Also like that a bladder can fit so that you can ensure you have adequate water throughout the day's journeying. This is THE BEST pack I have ever owned and highly recommend it!

solid pack
March 07, 2012

overall, I like this pack -- highly recommend. positive: -- highly adjustable and comfortable. I often carry 20-25 pounds and walk for hours in comfort. I am six foot, 165 lbs, and size Reg is good for me. -- overall configuration of pockets/organization/access is terrific, very useful. -- fits below the seat on an airplane (of course, also fits in overhead compartment) negative: -- I don't like the metal piece used to fasten the strap on the big front compression pocket. It detaches easily -- not reliable for keeping loose gear cinched and secure. annoying. -- The pockets on the hip belt are too small to be very useful for me. a standard smart phone would be a very tight squeeze. -- the side mesh pockets seem to intrude more than necessary into the interior space of the pack when full. would be nice to carry a water bottle without sacrificing as much space in the main compartment.

Extremely uncomfortable
December 30, 2011

I bought this pack because, at the time, Altrec did not have the camelbak fourteener in stock. This pack looked essentially the same as the fourteener, so I gave it a try. This is the worst, most uncomfortable day pack I have ever worn. It actually hurt my back just putting it on with out anything in the pack. I returned it the very next day and ordered the fourteener from another site for $5 more. The fourteener is an amazingly comfortable pack, even when carrying loads up to 20 it comes with a bladder.

Cons: Bad design, Low performance
