Mountain Hard Wear's FTX Mithril Parka is your first line of defense against foul weather assaults. The durable FTX Ultra shell fabric is welded to a GORE-TEX® XCR membrane, a fabric that is 50% more breathable than previous GORE-TEX® membranes with the same durable, lightweight and waterproof properties. The FTX Mithril features a newly updated version of the Ergo Hood, which conforms better to the contours of your head for a more comfortable weatherproof fit. The secret to the new design is in a single pull tab connected to unique cordlock that is integrated in the rear panel, so you can make a precise single-handed adjustment even while wearing bulky mittens. It also features an improved brim construction, clean front drawcord system and a simpler, more breathable design. There are extra-long pit zips under the articulated sleeves and a two-way front zipper on the front of the jacket. Adjustments are quick and easy thanks to the one-handed waist and hem drawcords. Climbers will appreciate the internal water bottle pocket designed to keep beverages from icing over.

This jacket is extremely light but it blocks out all the wind and rain. I was totally impressed the first time I went jogging in the pouring down rain with it. Not a drop got through to my underclothing. Definently worth the money.

We do a lot of back country skiing in all kinds of weather conditions and this jacket has never failed to keep me warm and dry. It's also easy to move it. Highly recommended for the avid outdoorsman!

I love this Jacket. I sweat a lot when snow shoeing and building snow caves and this jacket keeps me dry. I would buy it again.
Immaculate Syntax - 2003-03-07May as well get the Ethereal FTX Parka
If you are going to be using this coat for other backcountry activities, especially extensive bushwacking, I would suggest buying the Ethereal FTX Parka instead of this Mithril FTX. The Ethereal is an absolutely amazing coat that I have put to the test for multiple seasons now, performing bird surveys in the harshest of the harsh. Considering its bomb-proof construction and versatility, you may as well get the extra enforcement in the arms and shoulders if you are going to spend the money. This Mithril is more for climbing...less for thrashing.
