Great Softshell for Cool Temps
December 03, 2011
I purchasd this for work and travel. Wanted a nice durable all weather Softshell in Black. I typically wear button down dress shirts with some sweaters. It's not a layering jacket unless you size up one. I'm 5'11 180 and the large is perfect. I can layer a thin half zip fleece with no problem but is not loose. If you layer a thicker fleece it will be a bit tight. The fleece lining on the neck extends through most of this jacket so nice warmth. I have a North Face Bioinic and this jacket is much better for the same price. Arms are more athletic as some have noted and I always prefer the cuffs to velcro closures on the wrist. As always Mountain Hardware quality is great. Got a great price through Altrec.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value, good all wind and rain proofing, Cons: some layering limitation.January 30, 2013
This jacket was better than I expected. The sleeves don't have velcro like you would find on north face jackets. The sizes are true and the prices are the cheapest around.

GREAT JACKET - BUT NOT FOR ME
November 18, 2011
I purchased this jacket already having three Mountain Hardwear jackets that I really like. This one isn't for me, however. The jacket is listed as having an "athletic" fit which means it wears close to the body and has little room for layering. I ordered a medium (5'9' tall; 160 lb). A light woolen undergarment or something similar is all I can manage without having the jacket feel uncomfortably tight. The sleeves have a severe taper from shoulder to cuff making the fit at the wrists even more challenging. They also have a knitted "cuff" that's similar to other Mountain Hardwear designs, but in this case, they make an already tight fit even tighter and long-sleeved under layers get bunched up at this point. If you're wearing a watch, the fit is even more compromised. Since I perspire readily, I wanted a highly breathable jacket for winter hiking and snowshoeing; the knitted cuffs are great for keeping your arms warm but are a hindrance to dumping heat during an athletic endeavor. A simple, adjustable Velcro closure would be infinitely more practical, albeit not as classy or warm. The construction quality is great, the look is good and the Thunderbird red is a sharp color. Unfortunately, these don't make up for the fit issues and the jacket is going back. Too bad because I got it at a great price. If the features I've noted aren't a concern, choose your size carefully.

I was looking for a versatile everyday jacket that can tackle a simple hike, use for work over my button-up, and transition seamlessly into an evening event. This jacket does all that. The jacket keeps warm but is deceptively breathable at 86% polyester. The jacket is also true-to-fit. I'm 5'10", 170lbs and prefer a more fitted look and feel. The Medium was perfect for me. It even fits a crew sweater underneath the jacket without feeling or restricting movement.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of useDid you recently buy the Mountain Hardwear Android Jacket? Write a review.
From office to mountains

bought this jacket to wear in the office where I sent under the building's frigid HVAC and the next thing I know I'm going to Turkey where it was a great jacket to cover the temperature spread in late March.

it's a nice jacket, good wind and water proof for a light jacket. I am 5'6, 130 pounds, S fit me well. I wish the collar is lower so it looks more neat.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Ease of use, Great valueI love this jacket!

This is a great jacket. I have used it for cross country skiing to running around town. I had to get an XL because I am 6'4 so the sleeves on jackets can be short. I try to wear a large, but the XL is great. Leaves some room to layer if necessary. I had wanted a jacket like this for a while and this is a jacket I wear all the time.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, PerformanceGreat soft shell

Get jacket for inconsistent fall weather. Its also really nice for people who have dogs because the dog hair doesn't stick at all. All around a great jacket.
