Windproof and Water Resistant Jacket
January 03, 2013
Very pleased with this jacket. Super warm, wind proof, and good hoody. CONS It is kind of bulky but I wanted it as warm as possible. It does pack down to 12" by 5" cylinderical shape though.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts foreverDid you recently buy the Mountain Hardwear Chillwave Down Jacket? Write a review.

Got for a Christmas present, so haven't used it very long, but it's been great for sitting outside and taking the dog out - stayed very warm and fits well. I have long arms and the sleeves were a tad short, but not enough to be a problem. Will be a great jacket for base camp - light and packs down well.

Excellent Parka
March 17, 2013
I've been wearing down Coat's/Parka's since the Gerry Down Coats of the 70's, when Gerry was a major sponsor of the winter games and I must say I am thoroughly impressed with the Mountain Hardwear Chillwave. This Parka is Warm, Lightweight and Very Comfortable and extremely nice looking. It has great wind protection, adjustable wrist straps and draw cords for your waist and hood. The hood is also removable. One of the nice features that I use most is the hidden outside chest pockets, one on the right and left that I use to store my cell phone while wearing the parka, The inside chest pocket is also a nice feature as it zips up and down and not side to side which allows for easier access. It also has a big storage pocket inside that I use for keys and other miscellaneous items. It also comes with a storage bag that climbers can use to stuff their parka in and use as a pillow while mountain climbing if need be. A feather pillow on the fly so to speak. I wear my parka in these Michigan winters that can be pretty cold and unforgiving at times. We've been pretty lucky so far as to have not had any major cold fronts or storms come thru and last. They've all gone either north of us or south. When it does finally arrive and it will, I will be very prepared with my Chillwave Parka and 10,000 Watt Generator. The two things that will most help in a brutal storm. I would recommend this parka to anyone wanting a relatively inexpensive winter coat. I can think of some add on features that would make the parka user friendly . Such as a zippered pocket on the upper outside sleeves that could be used for IPod, Small GPS, additional storage
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: needs an inside chest pocket on the right., lower inside pocket could use a zipper., add pocket on upper sleeve for an ipod gps etc...Great choice

If you want a nasty parka you will want this one It is light wind proof and very warm. I live in Colo. and I am a wimp when it comes to cold. I have wore comfortably in 10 degree whether but I am sure it will go lower. Not too puffy to wear in stores or car unlike an MH Absolute Zero expedition parka (warm but huge). I first ordered a Med. it was too small. Altrec was great about the return. Absolutely no hassle. I am 190 and 5'11, a large fits perfect. Altrec shipped fast, I had it in 3 days. Liked this jacket so much I ordered a second one for my wife. I feel sorry for the people who don't own one of these. This parka rocks you will never regret purchasing.
