This Hat Rocks!
November 23, 2011
Keeps my head warm and dry! And the fit is snug, but comfortable. I've been out in weather with wind chills down to 20 degrees and it was perfect. As the day warms up, off it goes. Another Great product from Mountain Hardwear!!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueHigh Warmest Quality

I am from Singapore and preparing for my 1st ever ski trip in March'13. Got this. Purchase with ease and deliver on time. The build quality is superb. My wife is surprised that mine fit true and nice. She complains that hers (other brand) is not good enough. Looks like I gotta do another purchase soon. Tried it and the warm is instant. Great buy -- a very satisfied customer.

Great windproof beanie
March 16, 2012
I first tried the Columbia Men's Fast Trek Fleece Hat and it was super UNcomfortable and squeezing my head, even though I ordered the Large size. Then I ordered the Outdoor Research Wind Pro Hat and fell in love with it (I still highly recommend it). Then, I decided to try the Mountain Hardwear Dome Perignon Beanie. Smart move. It is very warm, very comfortable, and looks nice. Mountain Hardwear nailed it with this one. My only issues with it are 1) it sometimes starts rising up and looks like a conehead and 2) when I squeeze it and put it in my pocket it is a little bulky.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: bulky in pocket, ugly yellow logo on frontDid you recently buy the Mountain Hardwear Dome Perignon? Write a review.
the hat is really good!
August 13, 2011
the hat is really good! i very like it, it is so warm & comfortable. a lot of people of our term like it!! it is larger than the average size ,so i choice M size.
Pros: Performance, Great value, Cons: Wears quicklyLight and Incredibly Warm
December 13, 2010
Couldn't be happier with this hat. Extremely light but more than warm enough. I have fished in it in the cold and even the rain and it has done the intended job. It seems to be exceedingly well made so I doubt I'll need to replace this one anytime soon, but I would not hesitate to buy one just like it. Another great MH product.
My favorite hat
January 11, 2011
BEST HAT I HAVE EVER OWNED. IT IS WARM, COMFORTABLE AND ATTRACTIVE, I JUST CAME IN FROM SHOVELING SNOW ON A WINDY, 18 DEGREE DAY AND MY SHAVED HEAD WAS VERY COZY. THE (L) LARGE WAS A PERFECT FIT FOR MY 7 5/8" HEAD. I HAVE OWNED THIS HAT IN BLUE FOR 2 YEARS AND USED FOR A SKI HAT IN RUGGED COLORADO WEATHER PRIOR TO PURCHASING A HELMET THIS YEAR. I JUST PURCHASED A 2ND HAT IN BLACK AND EXCEPT FOR COLOR ALL QUALITY AND FEATURES ARE THE SAME.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueExcellent Hat

Dome Perignon Hat
January 12, 2011
This hat has a comfortable shape to fit the head and is well-constructed. The hat fits over the ears for better warmth but muffles sound so you need to flip the edge up if you need better hearing. I wear this hat as much as the weather will allow. Happy with this purchase.

THIS IS MY SECOND PERIGON HAT. LOVE THIS HAT. NICE AND WARM. GREAT QUALITY. DESIGN IS EXCELLENT. I'M A AVID HUNTER. SO IN THE -20 DEGREE WEATHER WE HAD THIS YEAR. IT DID THE JOB@@!!
Pros: Build qualityUsefull lid
February 17, 2012
Good design allowing the hat not to be real low on your forehead while still covering your ears. Only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is the hat fit is a little off. I normally wear a large but this hat in large is a little loose with a puff on top. I know a medium would be too tight. Weird.

Windproof; Great comfort
March 10, 2011
It was interesting to see that these were the primary hats worn by the participants in both seasons of Discovery's Alaska Experiment. Yes, they had other hats, but it seems that every participant at least had one of these at their disposal and often used it as their primary hat. I've used it on windy, cold days in the Montana winter and find it to be really quite comfortable. I really don't think it's warm enough by itself once it hits the teens unless you are doing something active. And, of course, similar to other hats that use Windstopper, it does block some sound. Still, it's easily on par if not just a little bit more comfortable than OR's shaped Windstopper hat. It's hard not to recommend.

Perfect for Cold!
July 01, 2011
Bought this hat for the cold mornings at high elevation, when waiting for the sun to warm everything up! It fits tight, which is what I wanted. Find that if there is too much space between you and hat contact to head, the cold creeps in! I am a small person, so size accordingly. Well made, washes easily. It is not too compact, but worth its wt. for the warmth it delivers. Take it along!
Windstopper
January 01, 2012
Bought this to replace my fleece on windy cold days in the Sierra Nevadas. Perfect choice! Ears are warm, wind stopped and toasty warm noggin. Love this hat.
Pros: Great value, PerformanceWarmth Without Bulk
January 11, 2011
I was surprised at how relatively thin this hat was when it arrived. However, the warmth it provides is amazing! I was concerned about the sizing - I wear a size 7 7/8 fitted cap (the "one size fits all" caps do not work for me). But, no need to worry. I ordered the "large" size and it is perfect - the hat stretches nicely and is very comfortable. I can wear it for hours with no problems and no headaches. I got the hat in the "Titanium" color and it is very good looking. I don't have the "cone head" issue that some other reviewers have mentioned. Overall, a great purchase and a great product!
Pros: Build quality, Performance, excellent fitDon't buy for climbing
April 26, 2011
I am going to be one of a few negative reviews for this product. As usual with MH the quality is second to none. It also keeps you warm and is relatively lightweight for the amount of protection it provides. Two things bothered me about this hat. Windstopper fabric is blocks all sound from reaching your ears. This was bothersome for hiking and skiing. Could be very dangerous for rock/ice climbing (you cannot hear your partner's commands). Sizing was also a little funky, loose around the ears and tight on top...maybe I just have a weird shaped head but I have never encountered this with any other hat. Bottom line, the sound isolation is a deal breaker.
Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Cons: Bad design, Low performanceLarge Head
January 16, 2012
It is impossible for me to ever find a hat to fit my big head. Ordered the XL. Fits great and I look awsome. Hat feels like good quality, and its easy to use. No instructions though.
Nice head cover for cold days.
January 30, 2012
Glad it came in sizes. Needed that large. Fits nice and covers the ears. Warms better than a plain skull cap and the material should last longer and keep its shape.
Pros: Performance, Great valueExcellent Hat
December 12, 2010
My husband runs in this hat, and towards the end of 3 miles, he turns up the flaps, in Alaskan winter. It is a very warm hat! He also wears it to chop wood/work out side etc. He loves it! I want one for myself now! Large actually ran pretty true to size for him.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueExcellent Choice
April 11, 2011
I bought this for hiking in winter in the Shenandoah and Monangahela areas on the East coast. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. It keeps your ears warm, and out on cold trails that is a good thing. I would buy this again.

This is it.
March 10, 2011
This is the hat you've been looking for. I work outside in northern Illinois in the winter, and also go skiing in the midwest as well as in the rockies. I have bought a lot of hats over the years, and this is the best one I've ever tried. Does a good job of stopping the wind, has good coverage, and good insulation. I'll be getting a 2nd one in another color for next year.
One Size does not fit all!
February 23, 2012
I was delighted that the DP Beanie came in three sizes because my large melon requires huge hats. I typically shun beanies because they never run big enough. I wear a size 8 Stormy K cap usually. This size XL Beanie fits! Great fit and quality, comfy materials, warm and cleverly designed. the closer was it was on sale! Lucky me! If I would suggest one change, reduce the stitched artwork on the front of the hat to just the hex nut. But that's it for cons.
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Cons: they might tone down the artwork on the frontJ. Miranda

Winter is getting colder and colder every year everywhere around. If you really need heavy but confortable proteccion for your head in winter time this is the winter had you must have. The panels of windstopper microfleece really do their job blocking freezing wind. The polartec thermal gives strong proteccion specially to the ears which where most of the winter hats fail to protect. At first sight it may look heavy but when you wear the Dome Perignon instead you feel a small amount of weight over your head that provides the best preteccion for your head. You don't have to think twice this hat is a winner buy at any time of the year so you know you will be ready fir the next winter.

Pros: Great design, PerformanceYou can't beat Moutain Hardwear...
January 02, 2011
I have never been dissapointed with a Mountain Hardwear product. This hat is warm, but not too bulky and the winstopper really eliminates the 'windchill' factor.

Warm at 17,000 ft
January 28, 2012
The dome hat wore very well on Denali and kept my head and ears warm at 17,000 feet. I would recommend hat for any outdoor condition. My only regret is that I should have ordered a smaller size.
Pros: Build quality, Great valueGreat Beanie
December 22, 2011
This is a lightweight and warm beanie. The design allows you to cover more of the back of your neck than conventional designed beanies. The liner does a good job of blocking wind. My head circumference is 22 5/8 and I got a medium. It does not feel as snug as other beanies I have due to the stretch panel and is cut with more volume in the top probably so it can be pulled down further in the back. On my melon, a small would probably fit more like a skull cap but I am happy with the comfort & performance of this size.
Pros: Great design, PerformanceGREAT DOME
January 28, 2012
The best winter hat i have ever owned. No more cold ears.Really blocks the wind.Great fabric and great color in sapphire choice. If you have a normal sized melon get the medium.

I purchased this hat for my husband who works outdoors in New England winters. He always has trouble finding winter hats that fit his head. This hat is wonderful , not only does the Large fit great but the hat has wind stopper fleece. My husband says it's his favorite hat that it really works great on the windy cold days. I purchased him a second hat just in case he misplaces the first since this is the first hat we found that fits great and keeps him very warm.

I am a former marathon runner, now converted to running and hiking, to save my knees and back. I first spied the Dome Perignon Hat on a runner, taking notice of the secure fit and smart appearance. It combines comfort, warmth, fit and flexibility. The material is soft and malleable. I like the way it feels and the fact that it stays securely on my head. My hat size is a 7 1/2 and I often have difficulty finding a hat that fits. It keeps my head and ears warm. I often roll up the ear flaps to free my ears in warmer weather. It is, in short, the best hat that I own.

Keeps your head warm, I mean nice & warm. The wind block portion for the ear area, etc. is what really makes this hat such a fine choice. Perfect for skiing, cold windy nights outside, & any time it's cold & windy. Very light weight also.

Great for winter climbs
November 11, 2009
This hat breathes well, insulates well, and is lightweight.I bring two sizes on mountain climbs;a large size to wear over a balaclava in the coldest conditions and a medium size to wear by itself.Workmanship is excellent and the polartec fabric dries quickly. The "dome" has become an important item in my pack.

Best Beanie I have owned!!!
February 17, 2012
I used this beanie on a 12 day camping/float trip this fall in remote Central Alaska. Wore the beanie most of the day and then slept in it inside my mummy sleeping bag. I probably wore it at least 18 hours each day for 12 days. It is very warm and the the wind doesn't penetrate it. Even after 12 days in the bush with no shower the beanie was still very comfortable to wear. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beanie.

I always keep it in my pack for the cold weather. Warm, light and comfortable. Highly recommended.
Wonderful fit and warm!
December 20, 2009
I had trouble finding a hat that covered my ears, looked nice, and had good wind resistance. I tried the womens version of this hat, and the fit was so close it would bend my eyeglasses out of shape. But the men's medium was a perfect fit! Its great that you can buy it in different sizes.
Warmest winter hats we've ever had
March 11, 2012
We got these in two sizes for our different size heads. It definitely blocks wind well (and muffles sound somewhat). No more annoying cold ear aches - which is a big deal, something many other hats have not achieved. Worth the money!

Comfy, warm lid
January 24, 2012
Feels really good on the head - really good. The soft, almost cuddly, ear flaps do reduce the sound levels somewhat but that's to be expected. Seems to be well made. Looks sharp. The curve along the bottom allows the beanie to be above the eyebrows, fully cover the ears and still be comfy and stable on the head. For you gram counters, my size L is 68 grams without the care tags.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, very comfortableDid you recently buy the Mountain Hardwear Dome Perignon? Write a review.
ok by me!
February 03, 2011
I'm a small woman with very thick hair. I bought the size large and it fits fine with a little extra room. Because there is a little extra room, even though I wore it over my ears, I had no problems with reduction in hearing as some others have reported. It did not make me look funny or like a gnome. It is long on the forehead so I have to flip up the forehead in order to see better. Some have complained about it being too hot but I wore it with highs between 18-23 degrees and it was fine even when I was very active skiing.

The Ultimate Expedition Hat
May 26, 2009
This hat has a built in earband/headband and then the dome part is not super tight. As a female with bangs and longer hair, it is perfect to wear. I can push my bangs back and tuck my long hair (or ponytail) up into the dome and it doesn't smash it down like other sock caps. It also does not give off as much static electricity. It is very warm, but does not make you sweat.
Warm winter hat
July 29, 2011
I have used this hat on cold weather camping trips, skiing, hiking and when shoveling snow. It is does a great job retaining body heat in very cold weather. It provides great coverage of your head, neck, and ears. It comes in a great variety of colors and it looks good. I highly recommend it this hat.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, works great with ski gogglesGreat for warmth, bad for hearing

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Great valueGreat weather hat
May 17, 2011
The dome perignon hat is great for many interesting weather excursions. This hat blocks wind really well, and is perfect for skiing. I found the hat also works well in Colorado's typical shorter term rainfall events, and drys out good. I have several of these, and have given many as presents. This is the one hat I always have in my pack.

Warmest hat you'll ever buy
December 12, 2010
Easily the warmest hat I have ever owned. So warm in fact I found myself taking it off a few times recently at a Sunday night football game because it was too warm. As others have noted, the ear flaps do limit hearing somewhat, but that is alleviated by simply folding them up. The shape of the hat is a little weird (on my head at least) in that the top rounded portion makes you look like an elf unless you pull it all the way down onto your head. Overall the best hat I've ever owned for staying warm. Would definitely buy again if something ever happens to this one.

Dom Perignon Hat
January 19, 2011
I purchased this hat because it looked like it would provide the best warmth for my ears. I loved the look of the hat and when I used it, I was not disappointed. I wore this hat while hiking the Adirondacks and I was not cold once. In fact, I removed the hat at different intervals because it was so warm. I would highly recommend this product.

Perfect Hat For ME
October 14, 2009
Looks good, though a little conehead-ish as others have mentioned. I have a 7 3/8 size head and while I'm fine with the fit of the large, if my head were any smaller, I'd go with the medium. Doesn't make me itch my head nonstop and keeps everything toasty!!

Too big
May 06, 2010
Unfortunately it was too big for me so I returned it. But it felt like an awesome hat!
Great hat for frigid, windy environments.
December 25, 2010
This is a classic for a reason- it is a comfortable, well thought out, highly functional cap. warm fleece combined with wind blocker means that through even the most frigid storms, your head will stay toasty warm. Small problems include the shape of the top of the hat- no matter how snug you pull it down, there still tends to be a slight "peak" effect in the softer fleece that makes up the top of the hat. Additionally, the windblock fabric covering the ears does a great job at sealing out sound as well as cold, making it hard to hear even loud voices at any distance. These features hardly matter in the real outdoors, but pretty much eliminate this as a "wear-around-town" type hat. Overall, this is a great item for extended use in cold, alpine environments where the priority is on functionality and not looks. Note-- This hat does seem to run large, but not hugely so. My head is 59cm in diameter, and the Large was just a bit too loose for my taste. A medium fits snugly, but is still comfortable.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, complete wind protection, Cons: not the most stylish, blocks sound effectivelyWrite a review for the Mountain Hardwear Dome Perignon here.

Sizing too large
January 15, 2010
Looks like a great hat but unfortunately it was way too large. Based on the above recommendation that it runs small, I ordered a large based on my 23 1/4 inch circumference noggin. It was too large...didn't stretch the stretch panel in back at all. Set up a return and ordered a regular/medium with no hassle.
Great in windy conditions!
December 02, 2009
My boyfriend had this same hat and was really upset when he lost it last winter. He liked it so much that I bought him the exact same hat. He says it's great in the windy conditions and doesn't itch his head like others have.
Lives up to its reputation
November 03, 2009
This hat got so many great reviews that I had to try it myself. I'm happy for the non-itching interior. The craftsmanship and color are great. I don't think it's so pointy-headed, either. Should be good for years of comfort in the cold.
Fits great when other hats were too snug
February 18, 2011
I often find many hats feel too snug on my noggin, so I ordered this one in size large and it is plenty big. Plus I like a little extra room to stuff in my long curly hair, and the dome shape to this hat allows that no problem. The hat is very warm, covers my ears completely, great for winter morning runs.
Pros: Great designSeptember 16, 2011
After repeated episodes of neck muscle pain after exposure to the combination of wind, cold and sweat I've been listening carefully to the advice of experts to: "Keep the neck warm and protected!" The design of the Dome Perignon hat provides this essential protection and even covers the lower neck within a few inches of the shoulders. I find the fleece technology to be much warmer with greater breathe-ability, comfort and consistent fit over other beanie style hats I've worn. Design and build quality features a liner, fabric with unique textures that contribute to superior styling as well as heavy duty inner stitching. Color options and even the logo are cool. Sound insulation is about the same as other beanies and sizing was true. This is an outstanding product that delivers on all fronts.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valuefits women fine; blocks wind
February 02, 2010
I ordered a Men's S, and it was perfect for my smallish women's head. It blocks wind and doesn't leave a crease on my forehead (like my Outdoor Research windstopper one does).

Best cold weather hat I've tried
February 16, 2010
It's a toasty hat but when it's cold from the trail head to the summit, it's my go to hat.
Excellent hat!
January 03, 2013
It does an excellent job of wind resistance. But it does seem that it is quite deep, so there is extra hat at the top when I wear it. But, I would rather it be a little too long than not long enough. Very comfy!
Great hat for winter exercising!
February 09, 2011
I gave this hat to my father for Christmas knowing he is very particular and a very hard size to fit. I am happy to say that the large size fit his huge head perfectly! He wears this hat to run in every day in our terribly cold and windy Maryland winter weather. The hat covers his ears perfectly and shapes around his head in a perfect fit. He feels stylish but not self-conscious wearing it! Thank you for a great product and a great price Altrec! The reviews always help make the decision easier.

This hat is awesome,I can hardly wait for cold weather again. What a difference a quality hat makes,I wore it practically all the time on hikes, camping and for every day walks in the neighborhood. Very warm, comfortable and cozy. An excellent hat that I would recommend to anyone who has to deal with cold weather.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performancefits asian female too!

I have never been dissapointed with a Mountain Hardwear product. This hat is warm, but not too bulky and the winstopper really eliminates the 'windchill' factor.

It's been mild here so haven't really gotten to try the hat out. I had the 2009 model before...this 2012 model is a little lower on the ears so it's even warmer. Definitely blocks the wind. Love it!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, PerformanceWarm Hat for all mountain conditions

This is actually the first winter hat that I've ever had that's not been made out of that knitted wool/acrylic material. It's definitely warmer than those types and it also blocks out the wind very well. With the Windstopper fabric covering the ears though, it does make it tougher to hear. Sometimes while I'm conversing with the hat on, I'll just fold up the material that covers the ears so I can hear better. Some reviewers have commented on the cone head shape of the top of the hat. I think it looks totally fine, especially if you pull the hat down tight past your ears. The one thing I was hoping for with this hat was that it wouldn't make my head itchy. While it's definitely way better at this than any other winter hat I've worn, I still do get an itchy head from time to time.
Windproof and Warm for me.

I use it to travel to base camp of Everest on China, it is warm and fit for me because we have a big head. The wind-stopper blocks the cool wind on the mountain over 5,000 meters and help me to see the sunrise of Everest.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great valueExcellent fit!

I've compared this hat to the Outdoor Research and this one fits my big head the best. Having this made from Windstopper fabric is a great plus!

I bought this hat for my brother and he likes it. It is very warm. I wish the part that covers the ear were bigger, but it is still a great buy.
