It's a good shell,because it's very soft,light,comfort,wind hurricane proof even water resistent.
The design is so beautiful that I want to swear it all the time execept the coldest weather.
For all,I love this shell.

Awesome jacket, but too short, scratchy interior
I was excited to get this jacket after reading so many positive reviews, but unfortunately I had to return it. It has an incredible build quality and very nice hood, but at 5'11" it was way too short, ending right above the belt loops in my pants. If I raised my arm my undershirt was exposed. And I wouldn't recommend wearing this with a short-sleeve shirt - it kinda scratches your bare skin and isn't comfortable. Too bad, I really wanted to like this jacket.

Runs short; scratchyness is real, but OK
This is a really well made jacket, but the issues you've read about in other reviews are real. I got a medium but at 6' it's too short for me. I have other slim fit alpine MH jackets in size M that are long enough, so this guy is an exception. Size up unless you're short. The scratchyness in the arms is for real, so if you're going to be wearing this with short sleeves a lot, look elsewhere. It's fine on occasion with short sleeves. Otherwise it's a great jacket at a pretty reasonable price.

Mountain Hardwear Dragon Jacket
Great Jacket. Lightweight, water repellent and wind proof. My only issue is that the stiching and zipper liners itch a lot when worn with a short sleeve shirt. I plan on using this jacket on Rainier in two weeks so I doubt there will be any time to wear short sleeves. Fit is normal for Mountain hardwear so your true size should work. I'm a medium usually and the medium fit just fine even with a medium baselayer and a lightweight fleece underneath. It helped that I got a great deal on Altrec!

best jacket I've worn
I hate carrying too much stuff or weight on me; the jacket delivers with amazing performance. This jacket is soft shell that LOOKS like a hardshell. The material is actually soft and stretchy. Gets the job done better than other similar windstopping shells. Ultralight and thin too. It's incredible. Mountain Hardwear knocks it out of the park with this one. The single gray pocket took a while to get used to.. but I dig it now! Could do with a smaller logo... I've had no problems with the material itching me or anything but it does run a tad small. I'm going to size up to a medium. Has a slim fit!
Hands down my favorite jacket!

Jacket fits well. Very durable. Comfortable. Keeps you comfortable in 20+ degree weather. I have some other Mountain Hardware jackets and this is my favorite.

good so far
Only had the jacket for a month or so...so I can't comment on durability. For fit and comfort: I got a medium and it fits a little big on me - I'm 5'9'', 165, a short torso and usually look for a small - but a small in this wouldn't have worked. Medium on me works well for layering. A little too much room in the chest, probably because of the pit zips. Oddly, fully zipped, it's a little tight around the neck. Hood is huge, but cinches down OK. I'd prefer a little more adjustability, but only having one cord makes adjusting on the go simple. As some have noted, the jacket isn't all that warm, and the seams (on the inside) are a little scratchy on bare skin. And the thumb hooks are nice, but a bulky around the wrists if I don't want to use them. I wear this jacket with a baselayer and heavy fleece or down sweater for cold temps. Sheds light rain and moderate snow good. Windproof for sure. So far, this jacket works well as a niche item: i.e. when I want more warmth than my uninsulated pro-shell, and when I need more weather resistance than my down. And it's not so heavy that I can use it in the spring. Build quality is outstanding.

Love This Jacket
I bought this jacket for cross-country skiing. I wore it in -15 degree weather today with just a fleece layer underneath and was plenty warm. In fact, I need to open the pit vents. Can't speak to the durability just yet since I've only had it a week or so, but it's definitely made well. Taking it on the slopes tomorrow to see how it fairs.

One fix could make it so much better!
Here are my thoughts, probably should take them with a grain of salt. The jacket technically speaking is awesome, it looks cool and has practical ideas like the vents, etc. But thats where the good ends. Once I put it on immediatly the zippers for the armpit vents where not comfortable and the stitching on the sleeves were"pokey" and irratating. The jacket is not warm and almost seems too thin. I think that a liner would make this jacket awesome. If it had a thin liner it would be warmer, the stitching would not be "pokey" and the vents would not irratate. This is my first mountain hardwear product and so far I am not a fan. However, this doesn't mean that I will not try any of their other clothing. Keep on keeping on.

blurs the lines
It looks like a hard shell with its super-taped zippers and smooth looking fabric. It blocks wind like a hard shell. The seams are taped. It happily beads light rain like a hard shell. It's light and packable since it's pretty much just a shell. It's not very stretchy. But it's not a hard shell -- and maybe that's hard to get over for some, myself included.
It's super soft, unlike any other soft shell material I've touched. The pit zips are a large and a nice touch, although they do make the fit a little weird/wide in the chest/under arm area. The finish is amazing -- the Dragon Jacket exudes quality. The hood synch works wonderfully. The hood has an excellent brim and when synched down fits wonderfully helmet-less. It fits pretty true to size. Another half inch or so in the body might be nice for layering larger items underneath. That said, I am easily able to layer a base+R1+R2 (or equivalents) wearing my normal size of Medium (i'm 5'9"/150).
I would say this is probably one of the best soft shells on the market right now. But remember, it's a soft shell and it's not going to hold up like your gore-tex hard shell in rain. It will bead rain effortlessly, but I wouldn't expect it to keep me dry in a monsoon (although I've yet to try this). If you are in the market for a super technical, quality, and all around excellent soft shell, then look no further.

Great Jacket
Just got jacket and wore it on a snow shoe trip that was 7-8 miles. Love the jacket. Arm pit zips are larger than most, allowing big ventilation if you want it. The jacket itself, is then made with little excess fabric which means it packs really small when you want to shed it completely All zips waterproofing looked great. Other big score was the ability to pull a cord on the back of the neck and adjust the bill on the front of the hood back and off my face to the exact degree I like it. Other hoods with bills often sag in your eye sight.

Great all weather jacket
It is the best lightweight all around jacket I have ever worn. It is wind resistant, surprisingly warm and extremely comfortable. I don't see myself wearing anything else!

good coat
I wish the sleeves were slippery for getting on and I don't think it needs those thumb holes and extra long sleeves. It's not as warm as I was expecting.

Amazing, not just for ice and climbing, does it ALL!!
I purchased this after going through a dozen or so jackets. I found this one did it all. I was tired of owning 3 or 4 jackets to do something with. I use this for snowboarding, back country hiking, backpacking, travel, rain, and more. I can not tell you how awesome this thing is. I am buying another just in case.
