Description

Ski patrol proven, the Exposure Parka is built to withstand the rigors of daily alpine use. Made with a dual layer of waterproof and breathable fabric, it features a UV resistant outer layer designed to help the parka maintain its performance even after long-term exposure to intense high altitude sun. Despite the polyester reinforcements to resist abrasion from rock and ice, this shell is remarkably supple and exceptionally comfortable. The Simplex pit zips allow ventilation around the mesh-lined CoolMax® torso liner and a powder skirt with gripper elastic keeps snow outside the parka. A specially designed Ergo Hood moves with your head to keep your peripheral vision unimpaired. A buckled webbing strap on back of the hood adjusts with a quick tug from one hand. The Napoleon pocket gives you complete access to the inside of the parka without unzipping the front zipper. There's even a inner pocket that's big enough to hold a quart-sized bottle of your favorite beverage.

Men's Exposure II Parka 4.6 5 132 133
Great Shell Great quality for a good price, what more can you ask for? MH is a great brand and I love this sell. I'm 6'1 and 175lbs and a medium fit me perfectly, the sleeves are super long as well. I'm mainly going to use this shell for skiing in VT next winter. July 24, 2011
oregonboy I ordered this in spring so I have yet to try it in any cold weather, yet it is well made and stops a little breeze and a dash of rain easily. I am 5' 8" and there is plenty of room to layer. In fact enough that for me it may be too much to wear it just a shirt underneath(which is typically how I hike--light clothes, light pack and a jacket). I will see if I can update about winter later. June 30, 2011
Always able to count on MH I have owned previous jackets, parkas, fleeces from MH and they have all held up exceptionally. A quick treatment with ReviveX makes the waterproofing as good as new. The materials are sturdy and durable wether scrambling up a rock face or glissading down a snow covered slope it has held up over the test of time. The fit of this parka seems to run a bit bigger than what I'm usually in. Lots of storage options an the powder skirts stays where it is supposed to be. I just wish the hood was a little deeper to more easily accommodate a helmet better. But otherwise for the price, the exposure parka is a steal and I would certainly buy another in 7 years when this one is blown out! April 10, 2011
Great All-Around Jacket This jacket is one of the best jackets I have purchased so far. It fits well and the design makes it very easy to move your arms. It is very tough and durable, best for exploring in the back-county and not worry about breaking your shell. It's fairly flexible and warm. I like the hood very much, no problem of turning your head while keeping you from the rain. The internal pockets are great for carrying cameras and a thermal in winter time. The fleece lined pockets really helps to keep me warm without glove. I haven't abused it yet, so not sure about it's true durability, but it seems well made and lives up to its name and history. March 29, 2011
I use this jacket in the andes I am a mountain guide in Ecuador, sudamerica, so this is the perfect jacket to use in the mountains, Simply Perfect. good price, Watherproof, dry very fast March 10, 2011
Pushing 60 Even though I don't do anything technical with this jacket I still wanted a shell that would stand up to our frequent high winds and wet snow. The day after I got the parka, I wore a Prima Loft jacket under the shell. Temps were in the low 20's with a steady wind and gusts over 40mph, I was quite comfortable hiking. The powder skirt is very efficient in keeping wind and snow out. In the rainy sleet we recently had the jacket was solid and I was dry as a bone. Conduit is a great material. Comparing it to my last North Face Parka, I like it much better. It has more of a cloth feel to it. My only issue is the tightness under the arms in the area of the pit-zips. It's a little tighter than I'd like. Otherwise it's a great parka. I bought a medium an I'm 5'10" 160 avg. build. Service was excellent. Great folks to deal with. March 7, 2011
Very Nice Outer Layer Great material. Sleeves run a bit long, otherwise the LARGE fits nicely. Definitely requires mid-layer on most ski days. Hood does not fit over my helmet (I wear a Large Giro). 6'1" - 210 lbs. February 22, 2011
Very nice shell Finally got away from 3 in 1 jackets and bought this as my first shell for a layering system. Has exceeded my expectation in the first few trips out on the mountain. Keeps the cold and wet out and allows me to keep under layers to a minimum. Great jacket! February 22, 2011
great value - 6 ft 1 , 210 lbs size L fits almost perfect. Could be an inch or 2 longer to warm better over my behind. Arms are quite long enough. - Fits well over a layer of a layer of fleece and a helmet. - Great cuffs - Stays warm, but you have the pit zippers if it´s too much. - Used for skiing in all resort conditions so far. - Works as advertised Great value for the money and super communication with the sales floks at altrec.com! January 11, 2011
Great coat but runs large I purchased 2 of these coats. One for my husband and one for my son. One was XL which my husband always wears, and a large for my son. Both coats were extremely large for them so had to return. Seemed like very nice coats but never got worn outside! December 28, 2010
Review of Men's Exposure II Parka I've used this jacket for one winter season (2009-2010) now, skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking in New England. I'm average size: 5'9", 170lbs and the XL fits me fine with room for several layers underneath. Tried a large and it was too tight with a fleece under it. I've used it over thermal layers and by itself and it offers great protection from the wind, rain, and sleet. It has the perfect number of pockets and I can usually carry everything I need for a day on the slopes without a day pack. Ventilation with the pit zips is adequate for my needs. The drawstring closures are easy to use one-handed, both tightening and loosening. The lift-ticket hook is a nice touch. It would be nice if it had a fleece lined interior pocket to protect my phone's screen, but that's a minor thing. So far, so good after one season. We'll see how it wears over time, but it looks really well made. December 5, 2010
Solid Ski Jacket I've already worn this a few times, and it is glorious. Great for snowing/sleeting conditions. I haven't used it for skiing or snowboarding yet, but I can imagine it will work perfectly. It is 100% waterproof, and its warmth is correct for the type of jacket. After all, this is a ski jacket - so it's not too thick, but warm enough to wear a long sleeve t-shirt underneath with no problem. On colder days, I would recommend wearing something warmer underneath; i.e. a soft shell jacket, fleece, or sweatshirt. My dimensions are 5'6" and 170 lbs, and I have wide shoulders and a slim waist. I'm right on the border between a size Medium and Large; and typically I go for a size Large with winter jackets. This jacket fits true to size. It has held up very well so far, and I'm looking forward to many cold years in brutal Chicago weather. A great pick from Altrec.com! November 8, 2010
Excellent choice If you need a shell without warmth, this is an amazingly durable, yet functional protective shell. This is wind proof and water proof. I have used it in down pours as well as in winter wind storms; there is no problem! November 5, 2010
I finally found the right parka. After going through various parka's I finally found the right one. I'm 6' 1" and 206 lbs. and I purchased a XXL and the fit was just right. There was plenty of room for layering and yet not to big on it's own. It was raining pretty hard yesterday, so I took it out in the rain to test it's waterproof capabilities. The water beaded like a freshly waxed car. It kept me bone dry. I was totally stoked! September 29, 2010
UPDATE: Great Customer Service This parka has everything I look for in a ski shell but be careful when ordering your size. If your shoulders are wider than your waist, order a larger size. I ordered a medium after reading many reviews. The medium would work for a smaller frame. I'm 5'10" 180lbs and the shoulders were too tight, the sleeves were too short, and there was no room to layer. I re-ordered a large and it is perfect. The sleeves are a touch long but do not ride up when extending my arms. Customer service has been excellent so far. I have not received credit on my return yet but will update when complete.......UPDATE:.........I received my re-ordered parka and my credit very quickly. The large parka is a perfect fit. The whole experience has been excellent. Customer service is very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Altrec is a great store. April 7, 2010
awesome jacket Although it is heavier than I thought it would be, I am satisfied about its performance, It can prevent wind and water from me completely, Moreover, I like its simple style. April 4, 2010
Great parka--Be careful with sizing This parka has everything I look for in a ski shell but be careful when ordering your size. I have not received credit on my return yet but will update when complete. March 30, 2010
Nothin' else out there like it... This is a great jacket for all things winter. Being 6'5" and 290 lbs, I especially like how the sleeves are long and the coat runs large. I've used it for skiing, snowshoeing, sledding and I even walked under a waterfall in the dead of winter and it kept me dry. Can't beat that. Great coat and great value. March 15, 2010
Holding Up Well, A Bit Heavy I have used this jacket quite a bit throughout this winter on snowy days. It is works well and is holding up fine. It is a bit heavy, but has not let me down so far. It seems to run true to size. With the variety of pit zips, etc. you can regulate your temp easily. Overall, I am very happy with it. March 11, 2010
Excellant ski shell This shell worked great for skiing in 15 to 40 degree weather. Lots of pockets for storage. Especially for a large water bottle. The vented sleeves and powder skirt were great. The shell is made of a very durable material. Held up well in the trees! March 8, 2010
Not a great jacket OK, I bought this jacket last year and loved it....for a year. After 1 year, the material is balling up like a cheap sweater. The jacket had been worn maybe 50 times, not alot given the normal durability of MH gear. I sent the jacket back to MH and they offered me a credit for the MSRP price. Problem is that the prices here are far less and now I can't get another jacket unless I downgrade or pay way more than retail. VERY dissapointed in MH waranty program. May be the last MH product I buy. March 1, 2010
Bulletproof Heavy Winter Shell This jacket is my cold winter shell and keeps the elements at bay very well. The material is bomb-proof and it breathes very well. The pockets work with a pack (although the entry could be bigger for gloved hands). Extra long cut for parka feel. Put a lofty insulation layer underneath and this jacket is quite the waterproof breathable winter parka at a bargain price. February 7, 2010
A seriously rugged jacket! This shell preforms very well in wet, windy, and cold weather. I have worn it in cold rain, heavy snow and at subzero temperatures and it has kept me dry, warm and comfortable in each situation. As far as the sizing of this jacket... I'm 5'9, 165 lbs and the small fits me very well and still allows plenty of room for layering underneath. January 20, 2010
Solid Jacket Good overall purchase. I thought the jacket would be a little heavier and less like a shell. Inner liner is a nice benefit. January 14, 2010
Excellant, durable, good for layering Overall excellent quality as expected from MH but definitely intended for layering. Not a bad thing, just a medium size was cut a little larger than I might usually wear. Good fit through the sleeves and the collar is as it looks in the pics - stands up high but when needed, that's a good thing! January 6, 2010
Full Featured Ive looked for years for a replacement for my old style North Face Mountain Jacket (short style from 15 years ago) that Ive used on Denali 3x, Nepal 2x, South America (many times) and numerous winter ascents of Mt. Shasta. While there are several jackets out costing close to $500, I didn't want to spend that kind of cash for outwear I don't use all the time. This time I wanted a generously cut parka (long, with room to fit layers of insulation under it), a helmet-cut hood, pit zips, internal water bottle pocket, and zipper flap all in a package that didn't weigh what the old N. Face jacket did and half the price. Asking too much? Apparently; as Ive searched for years to find the right un-insulated, storm-rated longer parka until I saw this one. To keep the price down Mtn. Hardware has used Conduit, and has it sewn in China (who doesn't these days?). There are a couple of other minor cues that this parka isn't quite as well made as the 3-layer Gortex N. Face it replaces, but to my experienced eye it is made good enough to take a moderate to heavy pounding over a moderate number of years at about 2/3 the weight and 2/3 the price of the one it replaces. I haven't had it out in anything sever enough to really test it yet, but have had enough experience to know when outer wear is capable of taking on a heavy storm this one can. A last feature that tells you the designers at Mtn Hardware made this one for serious mountaineers - it has plastic rings on each sleeve to attach your mittens to. If you've ever been in a real blow up high and had to take your mittens off to dig a snow cave, you'll appreciate this often overlooked feature. December 24, 2009
Mountain Hardwear Parka I bought these for my three sons. They all three love them. Keep warm, lots of pockets, keeps them dry. I would certainly purchase another one. December 18, 2009
Good sturdy jacket nice fit. looks good and practical December 17, 2009
Great good fit, plenty warm, and lots of good pockets. December 17, 2009
A real classic with a loyal following. I worked for a national outdoor gear retailer for several years and the MH Exposure II Parka was one of the hard shell jackets which customers came back to buy after owning their first one for as many as 5-7 years. "I see a few changes, but it has performed for me beautifully" were the usual comments. A lot of the users were wearing this in the backcountry, where the longer length, powder skirt, and abrasion resistant outer shell come in handy. This jacket also has a proven Conduit(TM) laminate for durable, waterproof, breathable performance. There are other brands out there that sell all this of performance for much more money. December 8, 2009
So far...so excellent!!! This shell parka is great so far!!! I'm 6'3" and even with a 39" sleeve length, the XXL sleeves are the right size. My favorite part is that the pockets are big and everywhere. At the ball game last weekend, my son wanted me to hold his drink and I just dropped the bottle in the interior mesh pocket. So far I haven't worn the coat in any extreme weather but I'm sure that with a sweatshirt or fleece underneath I'll stay dry and warm. A few co-workers who are familiar with the Mountain Hardware brand were surprised that I was able to get the coat for less than a similar North Face. It was an outstanding price since I bought the dk. brown (espresso) color for about $150 with FREE shipping! I noticed that now there is only one size left. AMAZING COAT & PRICE! October 29, 2009
GREAT JACKET My son loves his Mountain Hardwear jacket. It is versatile and sturdy for any weather condition. October 13, 2009
My boyfriend really likes this coat My boyfriend wore this coat when he climbed Crow Peak and he stayed sooooo warm October 11, 2009
Fantastic shell! I was looking for a good jacket for our cold winters here in MN. Someone suggested this jacket combined with a thick fleece (like the North Face Denali). I bought this shell and an army surplus 300 weight polartec fleece and it couldn't be warmer! Without the fleece it also functions as a colder-weather light jacket. I'm very pleased :) September 22, 2009
Good choice My brother and I both have this same jacket and we both love it. It fits great and performs. I'm about 5'9 and the medium fits perfectly September 10, 2009
Excellent jacket for keeping out the bad weather Very durable, highly waterproof jacket for wet or snowy weather. Material is more durable than other jackets I've had, at the expense of being a bit more heavy. This should be a great jacket for when durability is a must, such as sailing, fishing, climbing, skiing, probably motorbiking as well! The hood drawstring closes snugly around your face to keep out foul weather. Pit zips are a little uncomfortable if you're wearing short sleeves underneath, but definitely help with ventilation in hot weather. Very nice jacket. May 25, 2009
Wonderful choice, love the parka! Excellent parka, very warm, well designed pockets, main zipper well protected with overlapping Velcro. Hood provides good coverage and collar seals well. Generous sizing which I was pleased with for layering. Highly recommend this parka! January 29, 2009
Excellent Used it at 9000ft altitude at -23F with windchill over a base layer and a TNF fleece. Never felt the cold, nor the 40mph wind. Could use some more pockets, but excellent overall anyway. January 25, 2009
Solid Design, some cons First, Altrec really had good customer service for the sale and fast delivery, plus easy return. Thanks. This is a solidly built jacket, and for the money a very good value. I wore mine for a blistery cold windy walk on Christmas day and it was completely warm and windproof. The material is excellent and I am sure would last a long time. So why did I return it? The hand pocket placement is just too high for walking comfort. Also, the hood does not really roll up nicely, leaving a tall bulky wrap around your neck. It does not lay flat around the collar either (at least when new). So here is what is positive about my negative comments: This jacket is really intended for winter sports use only - period. It is in the class of technical jackets, and the high pockets allow for a backpack waist strap (which would otherwise cover the pockets). The high neck would be great for powder skiing, ice climbing, snow shoeing -- but it is not very stylish around town. The powder skirt is functional and keeps wind out. I am a medium sized guy (5'7 and 145#) and the medium size fit fine. It did not hang too large on its own, and allowed for a fleece underneath. The inner pockets are good and well placed. I had a hard time returning this jacket because there is so much too like, but I really need something more versatile and 3 seasons. For only skiing this would be fine, but for October camping a little overkill. As a ski jacket the hood fit over my Giro helmet and would be okay, but did not really come forward enough across the forehead, so the hood may have a tendency to blow back off the helmet when skiing fast. That is really the only serious design flaw. One comment I read said it fit over one brand of helmet, but not another. If not using a helmet, the adjustable hood would be fine, or perhaps on the large side. The hood and high collar really keep the weather out. I found the jacket length to be fine. My only real complaint with the jacket design is with the underarm zips - they are somewhat bulky and would take some getting used to. All that said, it is a really well made jacket and a great value for a winter sports only jacket. It had nearly every feature I was looking for. January 17, 2009
Great Jacket This is the first mountain hardware product I have owned. I bought it for bass fishing, Yesterday it was cold, low 40's all day, windy and the fog was thick. The jacket worked great. The test was 70 mph across the lake and it worked. This is my new fishing jacket. January 4, 2009
Perfect Received this jacket just in time for a winter storm complete with freezing rain. Wore a liner underneath and stayed warm and DRY. I am a 5' 10" gal and buy men's jackets to get the arm length I need. (And also because it's hard to find a women's jacket that's as worried about function as it is about being "stylish") This jacket has a substantial, sturdy feel without being overly bulky. The arm length is perfect and the sleeves don't pull up on your arms when you're active. I have ordered from Altrec multiple times and this was the first time I had a problem with an order--one of my items was out of stock and didn't ship, but I wasn't informed and my card was charged for the item. When I called Altrec customer service they were wonderful. This is the kind of mix-up that can happen to any business, but that has the potential to loose a customer. Instead, thanks to the wonderful customer service team, I still feel absolutely confident ordering from you and recommending you to others. Thanks Altrec! December 28, 2008
Great parka and great service This is a very well though out parka. Everything worked for me except the length. I am 6' 4" and the XL was a bit too short. The material is great and the design is fantastic especially the hood and I loved the long sleeves. I had to return the XL but will probably end up buying the XXL. The service of this company is great. Because of the service, I will definitely be back as a customer. November 23, 2008
great jacket This is my 1st Mountain Hardware jacket and it is great. After reading the reviews from other shoppers and getting a great price, I am very happy with the purchase. I spend a lot of time overseas in rough areas and have chosen this over my more expensive issued gear. Great pockets, great seams, zippers and draw strings, tough material, but fairly lightweight. Plenty of room to wear layers and has a great hood. I will buy another Mountain Hardware jacket! Shipped fast and great customer service from Altrec! October 31, 2008
Great Jacket Tough and durable, perfect outer layer for snow or mountain sports. The hood is very well designed, too, with a functional rain shield. Combine it with a 200 weight fleece for seriously cold weather. The only thing I miss is a zipper to attach a fleece inner jacket. October 21, 2008
Good Jacket I have been looking for a heavier winter jacket that is waterproof and provides a nice shell of warmth (w/o having to layer a lot). The jacket is perfect a perfect match. While there is a room to layer, it is just a little too loose and maybe a more fitted approach would be better (I bought a medium even though I wear a large shirt size and it's still a little too loose). Overall, still a great buy. September 24, 2008
Just Awesome Awesome, awesome jacket. Very tough and durable. I had a Synchro before, but I got rid of it and got the Exposure because it just seemed so much tougher. Kind of heavy, but not too bad. August 4, 2008
Well made and well wort the money! Finally found a well made jacket that has the the right sleeve length. Lots of great features and it layers up great. March 7, 2008
Good shell! This was a great shell. Nice and waterproof. It's a little thin so you'll need extra layers underneath. Overall, I'm glad I got it. March 3, 2008
Warm and Dry! This is my 2nd Mountain Hardware jacket and I love it! After reading the reviews and getting a great price I am very happy with the purchase. I had put the jacket in my closet thinking I wouldn't be wearing it that much now that it had warmed up here (North Carolina) but the next day it poured down cold rain. So I wore it out that night and was nice and cozy and dry! Great pockets, great seams, zippers and draw strings, tough material, but fairly lightweight. Plenty of room to wear layers and has a great hood. I will buy another Mountain Hardware jacket! Shipped fast and great customer service, thanks Altrec! February 23, 2008
Great Jkt I used this Jkt on a Ski week in Chile and it was a perfect for riding powder the skirt work perfectly and the price also was perfect for my buget February 17, 2008
I like it so much I have two Nice and tough. Have used as a heavy rain jacket and also as a light super cold jacket. Its sort of in between weights so it can be used for just about everything. I normally wear an XXL but in this jacket in xl is perfect except for the sleeves. I fact the sleeves of this jacket are the only thing I don't like. First of all they are too narrow, so its hard to layer. The second fault is the pit zippers are stiff, I always feel them when they are closed. It would also help it the pit zips unzipped from the opposite direction. The last problem is with the sleeve length, they are just too long. I normally take shirts with a 38 inch sleeve, yes I'm a monster size person, but the sleeves on this XL are about an inch to inch and one half too long. These grips aside, I love this jacket and have been wearing them for several years and they still look like new. Thanks for reading and keep on climbing up. January 29, 2008
I've had this coat for 3 years and it is great. This coat has worn extremely well with no degradation of wind or water resistance whatsoever. It is sized well, the pockets are positioned really well and works great as top layer or just a windbreaker. January 27, 2008
Awesome jacket Pockets & features suitable for a variety of outdoor winter activities from skiing to winter hiking. Have been looking for a comparable women's jacket and can't find one with the features I want (lots of pockets for layering up/down on a winter hike). Sleeves still a bit long and hip synch cord sits lower on the waist (men's torso). They should make this same parka in women's sizes. For outdoor high adventure sports, would choose function over look any day. Hence Men's XS will have to do until these companies realize there's a market for women who want durable, functional gear like men. January 5, 2008
Excellent shell This has withstood many rainy, snowy, and sub-zero nights. I would highly recommend this shell to anyone. I believe it's the best one for the money on the market. Finally a company who has made a quality product without sticking the customer with an empty wallet and a sore butt. November 6, 2007
rock solid jacket Can take any abuse and looks cool on the street! July 22, 2007
Very Pleased! I have taken this jacket out on several camping trips, and it has served me well. I would recommend this to anyone. July 10, 2007
Great Jacket Bought mainly for skiing, but could also be used for mountaineering. Very durable fabric. July 1, 2007
Excellant jacket. Correct sizing, roomy enough for a fleece or sweater. Well made features. July 1, 2007
nice rain jacket It keeps you dry. It is a little heavy but its great for cold rainy days. The arms are long but the cuffs can be adjusted. I did by a size up so i can layer. Has pockets in good locations. Its also long so your butt doesn't get wet. June 3, 2007
Great, Durable Jacket Nice jacket to brave the elements with. It will limit the amount of layers you are able to wear under it though. For rugged outdoor use, the Men's Exposure II Parka is the best jacket I have owned. May 20, 2007
Excellent This was a gift. My son-in-law was very pleased with the quality, style and true fit allowing for lightweight coverage underneath. Altrec has always been helpful regarding questions with selections. May 20, 2007
Held up through extreme conditions This is a good jacket and held up through an entire day of cold temp, high winds, rain, and snow on a recent mountain climbing trip. However it finally broke down and became completely soaked inside and out by the time we got back to base camp. I was through due to no way to dry it out for next days summit attempt. Made the decision to hike out to the trail head in the night with fleece and a waterproof shell to prevent hypo. However, these were extreme conditions and the entire group was in the same condition with various other brands of shells. May 9, 2007
Great parka wears like iron Perfect for wet-weather and winter mountaineering. For those looking for wearable tent, this handily fits the bill. I use this in the PAC NW with the shell alone, or with additional layers and found the fit and movement accommodating. Little details like the fleece lining in the pockets, glove loops on the sleeve, the stowable hood and the secure drawstrings justify the expense for the parka. I found the longer sleeves are an advantage on those occasions when one has to remove their gloves, as it helps reduce exposure. As with any piece of equipment there is a tradeoff with performance price and weight. The performance is certainly there, however those choosing weight over price should look elsewhere. March 5, 2007
Great Jacket and well worth the money. MH can produce some mighty slick looking jackets for men. The Exposure II Parka is just another in my long line of collecting Mountain Hardware jackets that I am not disappointed in. I have used mine in blinding rain, snow and just about anytime any dampness is in my environment. It performs fantastic. The pockets are laid out well, the vents offer all the options you would expect, and the adjustments available on the hood and entire jacket cannot be improved on very much. I have only one somewhat MAJOR complaint and is has nothing to do with the performance, just the function..... For all the money I spent on this jacket as well as a MH Windstopper Tech jacket, and a MH Sub-Zero jacket.......None of these will ZIP INSIDE my Exposure II as do most any of the North Face outer shells! Very disappointing in that respect.... This is the only big disappointment and I have really no other complaints at all about the jacket.... If that is no big deal to you (zip other MH jackets inside the Exposure II) , then this jacket absolutely rocks....You will not be disappointed....RFree January 29, 2007
Awesome for Skiing and Winter Sports I bought this jacket primarily for an extended ski and winter sport trip to Jackson Hole, WY I am going on in a few months. I tried the jacket out this weekend on the slopes and I was quite impressed with how warm and wind resistant it is. It was one of the coldest days of the year with a -5 wind chill and snow falling all day and this jacket held up great. I had 2 thin layers on underneath and didn't get cold once. I especially liked the longer sleeves to put over my gloves along with the Velcro fasteners. The hood was key and the powder skirt is great for wind protection. Great deal, awesome value and quality brand. January 29, 2007
So Far So Good I got this jacket locally for $150. Was looking at TNF Mountain Light ($250). The Mountain Light seemed way overpriced for what it was offering. The Exposure Parka has much tougher material and better pit vents. I will suspend some judgement until I can wear it on trail in the pouring rain, but so far I love it. I used to be very happy with TNF but I think they sold out for the most part. I will be checking into more MH products. January 28, 2007
Not the best, but nice I bought this about 3 years ago from this site. Nice jacket, fits comfortably. As mentioned, the DWR does not stand up well though. Mine has started to allow water to get to me (not a coat for rain; keep to snow). Velcro on sleeve ends has started to fray jacket fabric. Folded hood is not comfortable on neck, so I always leave it out. Had a Marmot Gore-Tex before this, and so much better. I love MH, but stick with their Gore-Tex products. Conduit does not stand up to time. Never had a problem layering though, which is nice. January 18, 2007
Great jacket even for women I can never find a women's winter jacket that is long & that has all the sleeve room for my laying of inside fleece. This jacket worked great in a men's small. I wear a women's mountain hardware size 8 but getting the men's small worked in all my out cold door sports in Jackson Hole Wyo. But girls, you can't wear this jacket without layers it will be too big. great January 5, 2007
Great jacket This jacket is really comfortable. The pockets are easy to reach. Pockets are in very accessable places and are numerous.Snow or rain, it handle really well. You won't look for another jacket at this rate once you own one. January 4, 2007
Impressive outer layer Have been keeping an eye on this coat for some time and finally made the purchase because Altrec's price couldn't be beat. First impression is that it appears to be very well made with lots of little extra features. Am 6 ft 3 in, wear a 44L and debated between L and XL. Bought the L and fits very well: plenty of length in the arms and long enough in the body to seal out the elements and still have room to add a mid-weight fleece underneath. Have seen some comments about the weight of the coat, but I found that while it feels substantial in terms of an outer layer, it doesn't feel heavy. Fabric surrounding the pit zips was a little stiff initially, but loosening up with wear. Worn it in some rainy weather and did great, but bought it to use as an outer layer for skiing so can't give it 5 stars until I see how it holds up under those conditions, however, there is no reason to think it won't do the job. Great Parka! My husband loves the coat! He gets overheated easily, but this parka is warm enough without too mant layers and is lightwieght so breaths well. Very pleased with it! Plus the price was awsome! January 4, 2007
Nice Jacket Very nice looking and durable jacket. Not the warmest without a fleece liner underneath. Totally waterproof so far and the hood is nice also. January 3, 2007
Great Jacket Great Looking Jacket. The Pit zipps are somewhat stiff. Great Jacket to stand up to the Noreasters. It is longer than my NF Mountain light and tougher material. I was always affraid of snagging the ML but not the MHW Expousre II. The jacket could use a litte more room in the arm pits. I wear it with the MHW windstopper and it keeps me warm. All in all a great jacket. January 3, 2007
Great value I have only had this jacket for a few months, but have already taken it on three winter hikes. It fit well and kept me warm and dry in 70mph winds with both snow and rain. I have owned a few different shells, but so far this is the nicest I have owned. It is not that light, but for the money it is well worth the extra weight. I have long arms, so the extra arm length and the problem with the pit zips was not an issue. So far the only issue I have had is with the hood. The velcro tabs do not hold the hood in place securely. I would like to see a removable hood, button tabs, or something else. Either way, I did not buy the jacket just to wear around town... Seems fine so far Wore this jacket the last couple of weekends with the temperatures in the high 30's, rainy and windy. Kept me dry with a flannel shirt and t shirt underneath. Will have to add additional heavy layers as weather really starts to get cold. Felt a little chilly in the shoulder area of the back. October 30, 2006
