Great simple hat
February 24, 2012

When a hood is not enough, this hat has the warmth to keep my balding head warm. I have a very long head and in a sized hat I wear a 7-5/8. this goes well around my big head.

Very comfortable and fits well
December 11, 2009

Although my size is supposed to be large, the regular sized Mountain Hardware dome beanie fitted very well and covered my ears. It is very soft and keeps warm even w/ really cold weather we are having now.

the Mountain Hardwear Micro Dome is lightweight and snug, for use under a helmet or hood. I purchased this hat for running in cool days in Bogota, Colombia. the cooler weather, when you just need a little something on your head. Not too warm and light. This item, so the build quality is good. I've only had this item for a few days but so far I'm pleased with it.

Pros: Build quality, Ease of use

love it
January 19, 2012

With my latest purchase I now have three of these. This new one I'm saving as my dress up go to town beanie. My first one, that I bought over five years ago, is my work/play keep my head warm in my sleeping bag hat. It has a few burn holes in it from many happy campfires but it still serves it purpose and is on my noggin right now. My wife stole the new one I bought last year, thus the need for a new one.

Pros: Lasts forever, Performance, versatility, Cons: may be to warm for jamaica in july

I like it alot!
December 17, 2009

This beanie is very soft and feels great on your head. I ordered it in Grill and the color is more gray than green as it appeared on the computer. I was happy about this, it goes with ANYTHING!! :)

Nice & Light
December 22, 2009

This beanie is extremely light and very soft.

A little lightweight
December 11, 2009

It definitely good for a large head....but it's a little lightweight. I have a northface one that is a lot heavier and good for really cold weather.

Fleece beanie
December 25, 2009

Sizes really loose but great product, price, and service otherwise

Value For Money Beanie
March 13, 2009

It's light and comfortable and keeps your head warm like it's suppose to. And for the price it is real value for money! Hence the 5 star rating. And I think it was made more so you could easily wear it under a helmet. If this is something you were looking for that reason then this is it!

Light, soft, warm
December 22, 2009

This is a great hat. When the temperature got below freezing and it was time to go running I put aside my thin fleece cap and pulled on this one and it kept me warm right down to the bottom of my ears without causing me to overheat. Light and soft feel is wonderful. I ordered my wife one and another for myself. I am exactly a Regular size according to MH guidelines and this Regular fits me fine--not as snug as the Dome Perignon but a good fit.

Best hat ever
December 30, 2011

This hat is nice and warm, but it's best feature is it's breathability. It's a compact hat that is small enough to easily slide into your pocket without bulkiness, yet surprisingly warm.

Pros: Build quality, Performance

Favorite beanie
October 23, 2011

This is my favorite beanie: nothing extra- pure comfort, indoors or out. Easy on and off and fits easily under a hood on a cold, winter's day. I bought 3 from altrec.

Men's Micro Dome Beanie
February 18, 2012

I've had experience with many different beanies by several manufacturers and I am impressed early on by this product. It's very soft and very warm. It appears that it will be durable, but I won't know that until I have at least 1-2full seasons using it, but so far so good. I would recommend it for anyone looking for this style of dome protection. :)

Just a simple fleece beanie. Keeps my noggin warm. I'd buy it again and probably will when it disappears.

Good value and warm. The only issue is that it runs large and has no elastic, so even my huge head is in fear of losing my beanie.

Preferred Winter Hat
April 04, 2012

I have accumulated many winter hats through the years. I wear this beanie 95% of the time. It packs down next to nothing. The large size fits my big noggin perfect- very comfortable. It is warm in most winter conditions- though maybe not quite enough in the extreme cold. I own 3 of these. HIGHLY RECOMMEND !!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Cost

Great cap to keep in your pocket
December 21, 2012

I received my first Micro Dome Beanie as a gift and I have purchased two others since. The are small enough to stuff in your pocket, without causing a big bulge, for those days when you don't know whether it might sprinkle or turn colder, or you need to be prepared for changing conditions. They are thin, but still sufficient to keep me warm down to about 40 degrees. And I find that adding a fleece headband around the ears (also small enough to tuck in your pocket) makes the beanie comfortable when the temperature drops even lower. When the drizzle stops or the sun comes out, just pop it back in your pocket and you hardly notice that its there.

Treated Me Well On Mt. Washington!!
September 07, 2009

Decided to go with a lightweight fleece hat for the summit of Mt. Washington. Good choice, since the wind gusts were around 60 miles per hour (in early June) and the summit temperature was below 20 degrees. The lightweight micro dome was the bomb!

Excellent Beanie
September 14, 2009

Good fit for med/lg head size (men) but slightly loose for small size wearer (female). I ordered the Blue River color thinking it would be more of a baby blue like it appears online however, it is a darker aqua blue color. Despite my not loving the color and fitting slightly looser than expected, it is still wearable. I have the same version from 1999? and the material on this one appears to be slightly better quality fleece (it's thicker and newer fabric technology).

Ultra Liteweight Super Warm Beenie!
April 11, 2011

My son and I each bought one of these to keep our noggins toasty warm as a key part of our minimalist sleeping system. This does as advertised. Everything we carry needs to be ultra liteweight (beenie under 1 oz) and multi-purpose. This beenie fits the bill as a hat we can wear to keep our heads warm in our bivy at night with our puff sleepwear and under our rain wear should the weather turn chilly. This beenie is NOT windproof as I was reminded at a recent track event. We knew that going in but did not need the feature or the extra weigh of the windstopper lining (windstopper version weighs in at 2 oz). All in we are very impressed with the Mountain hardwear product and look forward to taking it on our summit of Long's Peak in the Rockies this summer.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

excellent beanie
November 24, 2008

Good fit for medium/large size (not recommended for small size wearers). Non-wool material makes it NOT itch, so it's comfortable to wear for extended periods. Warm, blocks wind, covers the ears nicely, and it looks good! Definitely recommended. Also thin enough to wear under a bike helmet for cold day mountain biking.

October 30, 2011

I purchased this hat for running in the cooler weather, when you just need a little something on your head to take the edge off a 40 degree day. The material this hat is made of is pretty thin, so it's just what I was looking for. Not too warm and very very light. And it's an MH item, so the build quality is excellent. I've only had this item for a few weeks but so far I'm pleased with it.

Its for thick headed numbskulls like us
December 10, 2009

I will admit it, I have a huge head, like nerdy huge. So finding a hat that fits right is, pardon the pun, a huge problem. All of my running beanies don't cover the bottom of my ear lobes. Enter the Micro Dome Beanie. Its big, and warm, and covers my ever-so-delicate ears with fleece and love. Its great and super warm. But if you have a smaller head this might not be for you, be forewarned. If you have a huge noggin, and big Dumbo ears, then get this hat. It will take care of your ears and leave you warm on your runs through the frozen wasteland that is the Midwest in winter.
