Men's Nitrous Jacket 4.2 5 16 16
Fit The jacket fit is a bit small around the shoulders. other than that, it was very warm and very very light. i am not sure going one size up would make any difference, cause other than the shoulders the size seems true so its probably the cut. January 31, 2012
Great Jacket - tight fit Another great product from MH. Very warm. One word of warning - the fit across the shoulders and the armpits is very tight. If you have broad shoulders, this is probably not the coat for you. Otherwise, superb. December 18, 2011
Great Jacket I bought one of these jackets earlier, loved it soo much that I had to get one in a different color. The price is the best I can find on line or at any brick and mortar building. This fits great as an underlayer jacket for wind breaker as well. Highly recommend this! November 4, 2011
Awesome jacket Looked at a lot of companies Patagonia and north face and found mountain hardware had a better fit and finish. I am 6'5" and was worried about sleeve length and found that the xxl fit perfectly . October 22, 2011
Great Down Sweater for the Slim This is an excellent down sweater for those with a slimmer physique. I am 6' tall and 165lbs, and the medium fits me very well. It's nice to find a down sweater that is sized for those that are a little more lean. The body and sleeves have nice length to them, without having the cut through the body be too big and boxy. As usual, the quality from Mountain Hardwear is top notch and the jacket packs down into it's own stuff sack, practically disappearing it is so compressible. Not a single complaint about this jacket....excellent quality, very compressible while still retaining good warmth, and most of all, sized nicely for those of us who are a little slimmer. Love It! This is the first down jacket I've owned (except for the puffy michelin man style when I was a kid) and I absolutely love it. It's exceptionally warm, packable, cuts the wind well, and super light. I've shoveled snow with nothing on but a t-shirt underneath and been completely warm. My friend has a MH Zonal but I opted for the Nitrous for the added warmth and it was a good choice. I'm about 5'10" 170# and ordered the large based on other MH purchases. The torso fits perfectly although the sleeves are a bit long ... it may just be that I have short arms ... who knows. The only negative (for me) is that the external hand pockets are not zippered but not a huge deal based on the other great features and quality. March 25, 2011
Nitrous Jacket Good choice for a trendy youngster or for someone looking for a warm layer, not the best jacket to move around town. This jacket is not good as a shell. March 21, 2011
Nice Coat I researched these down sweater jackets - tried Marmot but did not like the fit. This coat fits a little snugger and does not billow out in the front. Wish it had a hood. Great light wieght and is very warm. February 9, 2011
excellent lightweight warmth very light-weight, great fit and warmer than expected. I would only change 2 things (both of which would add weight): 1. add zippers to the hand warmer pockets 2. use a goretex-type waterproofing laminate on the exterior even without those changes, it's still an excellent light layer, easily packable and surprisingly warm. January 27, 2011
Warm & light I purchased this for my son, so here's his 2 cents worth. The Nitrous jacket is featherweight and very warm, as are all the "down sweater" type jackets. It's not too shiny as some are, and he likes the look of the narrow down channels. The sleeves are long so your wrists don't poke out when you extend your arms. However, the cut is slightly small, especially under the arms. His other quibble is the lack of zips on the pockets. But the quality is excellent so it's a keeper. January 22, 2011
Form fitting and very functional I bought this jacket planning to use it as an outer-layer for chilly days and mid-layer for very cold days. It turns out that it is very warm, but breathes so well that it is exceptionally comfortable in 25 to 60 degree temps. It works great as an outlayer over a thick base layer skiing in 25+ temps or as a midlayer under a shell for snowy or super windy conditions. It doesn't appear to have much, if any, wetness protection, so it probably wouldn't like wet snow or rain. My only gripe is that the front hand-warm pockets don't zip up, which means snow pockets if take a digger on the snow. As for fit, I am 6'2", 185lbs and it was very true-to-size and more form-fitting than comparable coats that I tried on. It's super light such that it barely feels like you're wearing a jacket. I haven't had it long enough to comment on how it wears or how the build quality holds up to abuse. December 11, 2010
Best Purchase Ever For an 800 fill down jacket this is perfect in terms of space. Very thin, yet very warm. Perfect for many conditions. Excellent! I don't like just one thing- periodically small feathers go out of the jacket! November 10, 2010
Good Jacket - Awkward Fit I've had this jacket for about a year now, and while I like the design and overall comfort, I must say that the jacket is a bit tight in the armpit area and across the back (if arms are fully forward, out in front of me). I'm 6'0", 168 lbs (male). I originally ordered a medium but exchanged it for a large. The medium had a better overall fit, if it weren't for the armpits. That's the only caveat. Aside from that, the jacket has kept me quite warm - I've been able to wear it with just a t-shirt underneath in sub-freezing weather. I usually throw a light shell over it. MH: I read other review about this awkward fit - I would happily trade in my large for a medium if this issue were resolved :) (or if you were willing to trim the torso area! I'm considering taking the jacket in to a tailor, but I'm nervous about tearing up such a nice jacket!) November 8, 2010
Too Small I ordered the Men's Nitrous Jacket in Large and it was way too small. i wear a large in all other brands. December 22, 2009
Geat Jacket Excellent warmth to weight ratio December 18, 2009
Great For an 800 fill down jacket this is perfect in terms of space. Very thin, yet very warm. Perfect for many conditions. I do a lot of mountaineering and this is perfect for layering under shells and even under 300 weight fleeces. Excellent jacket! April 14, 2009
