Men's OffWidth Jacket 4.6 5 44 44
Excellent Light Softshell This jacket, along with the Winter Wander pants makes me feel nearly impervious to the conditions. They are like a sort of anti-elemental suit of armor! This jacket it super stretchy, tough, fits well (though a bit small), looks good, has good waterproofing, and is super comfortable. If you are looking to layer extensively consider going one size up. December 16, 2011
Great jacket! Great jacket! Nice, trim athletic fit; lots of nice touches (tall neck w/ microfleece and bungee to tighten things down against the wind); fits well, feels good, stretchy fabric, reasonably wind resistant yet breathable, longer in back to keep your back and kidneys warm. Highly recommended, esp. for the price! October 17, 2011
good. I bought this OffWidth Jacket for this autumn. trecking or yachting etc, i haven't tried yet, but it's looks nice. very light, good quality and fit is awsome good. September 20, 2011
Great Jacket This jacket was true to size, true to discription and has been overall a great mild weather softshell so far. I love softshell gear and this jacket is top of the line gear. May 31, 2011
a great jacket I bought this jacked for cool weather climbing, but I hardly take it off at all anymore I definitely recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a great jacket for moderate activity in warm to cool temperatures. May 27, 2011
Great Jacket This is the best of the light-weight technical jackets out there. Great fit, construction, and durability. I really love the hidden headphone hole from the breast pocket into the jacket---great for my iPod. May 23, 2011
I liked everything about this jacket except for the length. I am 6' 165 lbs and bought a medium. It fit my shoulders and chest great but was just a bit too short. I could fit a thin insulative layer underneath if I had to. I liked the durability and it is just the right weight for spring / summer. As others have said, I wasn't crazy about the logos everywhere, but it doesn't detract from the other positive qualities about this jacket. May 9, 2011
perfect fit. excellent product keeps warm but not heavy good wind barrier i am 5 10 and 150 lbs and fits well for me November 20, 2010
Best light weight jacket Had always been loyal with TNF and this is our first Mountain Hardware purchase. Must say that it is worth every penny paid. It's water resisitent, windproof, perfect for light layering and comfortable. Another plus is the simple but elegant style, straight forward no non-sense. Fit is perfect too, I'm 6'3, 80 kilos and have long arms - no problem. Service we received from Altrec was outstanding and shipping is quick! Thanks Altrec! We will definitely order again! November 18, 2010
Excellent buy!! I truly love this jacket!! Fits very well. Warm, but breathable. I highly recommend this jacket!! You won't be disappointed. November 12, 2010
Good jacket wrong color for me I have nothing bad to say about MH and I have many of their outerwear items. This is a good jacket and at a reasonable price but it was a color that was a little too loud for me. I have another one in a different color and they are a very good shell. Highly breathable, stretchy and quite abrasion resistant. Like most jackets my arms are a little short so the sleeves end up being a little long (5'4" 126lbs). However, this jacket has velcro cuffs which helps the longer than my arms sleeve issue. I wish it had a thin layer of felt/polartec like the marmot driclime line to give it a little softer feel inside as well as increase the warmth a smidge. I find that MH mens size small to be closer to my size vs Marmot. MH, a great outdoor manufacturer. September 27, 2010
Useful layering piece Nice layering piece, esp good for cool morning starts in spring thru fall. Like the added stretch and the fact that it packs and breathes very well (though not that wind resistant). August 26, 2010
Better than first version I had a pullover version and liked it but killed it after a lot of hard use. The fabric ripped and I kept fixing it, but it had to be retired. The full zip version is a bit of a step up with better wrist cuffs and a full zip. I don't think it will last forever, especially if I us it in the desert on sandstone climbs, but it is a solid part of the gear collection. I recommend it, particularly as it is affordable and light. July 22, 2010
Great Jacket. I replaced a piece of gear that I have owned for 15 years with this jacket. I like the fit and new technology. The workmanship is good and I feel this will be a durable item for 3 season use on the water and in the back-country. June 9, 2010
Perfect three season jacket Nice athletic fit which you will appreciate if you are thin. Long arm length is a plus. I live in the mountains and find it the perfect jacket for layering up or down most of the year. May 12, 2010
Lightweight light weight which makes it so comfortable and wearable April 21, 2010
Great Jacket Lightweight but still warm. Perfect for me as I always seem to be hot. April 1, 2010
Good looks for price, but paper thin Material and feel of this jacket are great. However, be aware that it is paper thin, to be used as a wind/water layer only. Unless it's warm enough for a t-shirt anyway, you'll need to layer. I'm 5'10" 185 lbs, and the medium was very tight, needed a large. The draw chord on the back of the neck is awkward and the wrists are huge (but adjustable). In summary, good jacket for the price, if it fits you, and you want the lightest of the light. March 22, 2010
Solid All Purpose Lightweight Soft Shell I like the fact that this jacket breathes much better than fully water- or wind-proof jackets. The tailored fit combined with the stretchy material enhances comfort during activities like bicycle riding and hiking. March 19, 2010
Seems like good quality Very trim, athletic fit. In order to be able to layer, I would recommend ordering a size up. February 22, 2010
Sweet Light and allowing much mobility, the Offwidth is just what I was looking for. A great-looking jacket to boot! February 17, 2010
Mountain Hardwear Offwidth Jacket I liked the jacket, it was just too short for my 6ft3 frame. January 4, 2010
Good jacket I've thought it's going to be a little bit thicker, it's really lightweight. Otherwise awesome jacket. December 28, 2009
A jacket that fits and performs This is a nice do everything/cycling jacket that fits great on my 5'9" 140lb frame. The material is tough yet allow freedom of movement. A nice feature is the ability to adjust the neck closure with an elastic cord. The sleeves have enough room to wear over a light sweater or cycling jersey without getting bulky (at least with my arms). Good value. December 23, 2009
Perfect climbing jacket This jacket is thin and lightweight but also keeps you warm. Stretchy material gives you free mobility and athletic cut makes easy to use with harness. Durable and stylish. December 17, 2009
Great jacket I bought this jacket for my boyfriend, needless to say he loves it.. It's great for his outdoor job and his movement isn't limited thanks the the material December 14, 2009
Great jacket for the price Stylish, great fitting, keeps you warm while feeling very thin. November 24, 2009
Great jacket, great fit Great jacket, athletic fit, nice, tall collar with microfleece and bungee cord to snug it in and keep the wind out. Tail extension keeps your back and kidneys warn. Great outer finish that sheds light rain. Wonderful to find a jacket for smaller men that really fits! November 14, 2009
Great Soft Shell This jacket is awesome! I was eyeing this jacket for more than 6 months because the price from last year in Canada ws rediculous (at $150). I saw the price from several places for lower than $80, but with shipping, these deals still had the jacket for over $100. So, when I did finally get a chance to get the jacket and received it from Altrec fairly fast, I was thrilled. What thrilled me even more was when I wore the jacket in cool weather from about 9C to about 20C. The jacket kept me warm from the wind and was quite breathable even when I wore it in 22C (it was hot, but the jacket did not collect any moisture). To top it off, the jacket does have stretch and comes with DWR that repels and beads water from rain. I usually wear a small, like for my MH G50; but for this jacket, since I had a chance to try a similar jacket in Canada, I knew that I had to get a medium size. The length was just perfect, an even better fit than my G50. The only knock against this jacket was that it did not have an inside chest pocket. But the outer left chest pocket made up for it. The jacket looks awesome on a fit body. I definitely recommend this jacket for anyone who is looking for a light outer shell that can be used for all sorts of activities. The material is made to withstand rough surfaces. August 4, 2008
Better then North Face Apex Bionic I bought this jacket instead of the North Face Apex Bionic, about 2 days afterbuying this one i saw a really good deal on the Apex so i bought that one as well. I had been wearing the North Face and found some things i did not like about it, The Offwidth has a way better fit, it also breathes better. My neck stays very warm with the offwidth where as the Apex the neck does not go up as high so you feel the wind more. The Offwidth seems lighter and would pack down smaller, also the adjustable cuffs are better then the Apex as it does not have any. Some people like the fact that the Apex has a thin lining, it is not that great and does not keep you any warmer. In cool conditions you would want to have a fleece on anyways so the lining in the North Face would not really make you any warmer. It is snowign today and i was out in the offwidth with a sweater and was perfectly warm. The Offwidth is great, anyone want to buy a North Face Apex???? December 1, 2007
good jacket this is a good lightweight jacket for the fall months. I am not too sure about the athletic cut... I am 6'2" and it is a little short in length. Would recommend going up a size when you purchase one. November 29, 2007
Awesome soft shell This jacket is great- i grab it for everything that I do in the summer and fall months, and I have even been trying to find ways to continue wearing it in the winter! I love it and you will too. November 7, 2007
Great jacket for the price I have really enjoyed this jacket's lightweight and waterproof design. It's perfect for chilly, windy fall weather, but breathable enough to not make you work up a sweat wearing it. So far, I've been very satisfied with this jacket. September 23, 2007
This is a great piece of gear his is one of the better pieces of gear I have purchased in a while. I am tall 6'2'' and lean and it is hard to find stuff that is not too bulky. I found with this jacket in a size medium I was very satisfied. It is great if you get caught in a rain storm unexpectedly and packs down pretty small and is over all light for the warmth it offers. May 19, 2007
Offwidth - nice weight, great value I like the feel of this jacket. Light and flexible, yet durable and seemingly good for spring/fall type weather (too cool in Feb to truly test right now). I got a large cos the adviser said to size up (I'm a 41" chest and was also advised to size-up when I ordered), but I found the sleeves too long. Everything else fits fine. I will end up cuffing the sleeves. It would've been cool to have tried on a medium, and I could've ordered both a large and a medium and returned the least fitting one, but whatever. I think this is the right size for me. Good price, and I love the look. Mountain Hardwear makes cool gear. Altrec ships fast! February 26, 2007
Best for slim and medium builds I really like the athletic cut of this jacket. Some other reviewers have commented on its snug fit and I agree and recommend that this jacket best suits persons of slim and medium builds. I bought the cayenne colour and it looks really sharp. I'm very happy with this purchase and Altrec.com's service. November 1, 2006
Ideal Soft Shell for layering A well made and good fitting jacket with medium thickness ideal for laying in colder climates - or an outer layer in milder conditions. Not used it yet in windy conditions - but the close weave of the fabric feels like it would offer good protection from wind chill. Good quality zips, enough pockets and well finished seams. All in all a good value jacket which meets expectations and is correctly described by the manufacturer. October 29, 2006
Great Softshell Nice Athletic cut, good breathability, very good water resistance. It is a comfortable, nonrestrictive, non-insulated softshell. October 27, 2006
my favorite all rounder this jacket is great I own a much heavier softshell and a goretex hardshell but this is my favorite b/c of the breatablity and that fit i like the no bulk-ness to it and its very durable. five stars across the board. August 16, 2006
Super Jacket! I used this jacket almost all year around. Easy to wear. My brother took it away from me. Now I have to buy a new one. August 14, 2006
awesome This is my second Offwidth jacket.I would like to buy all the colors, I like this jacket so much. March 10, 2006
Decent Cold Weather Running Jacket I bought this for winter running. It's not nearly as breathable as a few thin layers are, but it allows you to go down to much colder temperatures when used as an outer shell. There are two side pockets and a breast pocket that can be unzipped to get greater ventilation. December 6, 2005
Sizing an issue I almost always wear a Men's Large and this one was pretty snug. Might be viable for highly athletic endeavors but for casual wear it was too small for my taste. October 21, 2005
Excellent, well priced softshell Close fitting in the body, but less extreme than the Offwidth Pullover, with looser sleeves and a much better collar. The fabric appears very tough, and has better water and wind resistance than Dryskin. The Otter colour is actually a good looking olive green, not brown like it appears in the photo, and there is no sleeve logo. Compared to the pullover, the jacket is a more substantial shell and by far the better choice for most uses, whereas the pullover is more of a shirt directed for uses where minimal bulk is required, but offering less protection. An excellent jacket and very good value compared to a lot of other softshells. October 7, 2005
