These pants shed water as well as any i have ever owned. But unlike a lot of clothing that is water proof, these pants breath. I wear them in the early fall until late spring. The zippered legs allow the pants to fit over all types of boots. Range of motion is execellent. I ended up buying 2 pairs. The only problem I have I cannot find any color but black in my size.

My husband was delighted with these pants. Nice fit for a tall slim man who also enjoys looking nice. The pants are very nice looking rather it be for outdoors or an evening.

Grrrrrrrrrrreat pair of pants if you have an athletic or slim build. It's like a super-thin softshell which stretches in every way and allows complete freedom of movement. It also hugs my buttocks and makes it look very flattering. (It's not a great pant if you are overweight with saggy bottoms) The fabric is identical to the Mountain Hardwear Talus pant, but this one has an adjustable waist pull rather than loops for a standard belt. My only complaint is the thick rubber 'weight' sewn to the bottom hems which sometimes seem to get in the way and which I do not think are necessary. The Ridgetop also comes in a 3/4 length which is great for extra ventilation and a more 'Euro' look. I own two pairs of the Ridgetop (Khaki and Black), and I highly recommend it!

Awesome! I own 3 other pairs of hiking pants and these are by far the best I’ve had (also the most expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for). They fit great (I’m an athletic guy and they aren’t baggy with a lot of loose fabric like some hiking pants). I plan to use them for general travel and backpacking/hiking. I like most aspects of the fabric. It’s not as wrinkly as some, so they look nice enough to wear in town. It’s also a nice medium weight (not to light and not too heavy). I saw someone post that the zippers were wimpy, but they seem perfectly adequate to me. I also am happy with the cinch belt. I’m not worried about the snap breaking and having no way to hold up the pants, it seems very solid. The only improvement I’d like is to somehow soften the fabric so it doesn’t make a “swish swish” sound when walking. That might be hard to do, but it would make them perfect.

I wore these pants on a trip involving 5 inches of snow and highs in the teens (w/ thermal bottoms). I bought the xl long (I am 6'3 and 245) without the thermal bottoms they just fit, length and waist were just right. Anyone taller than me may find the long a bit short. My only concern is w/ the integrated belt, although the snap closure is durable and secure if it fails the belt will do little to keep your pants up. All in all a great pant.

These are simply some of the best pants I've ever owned. Well-made, sturdy, extremely comfortable, functional and tough, plus they look really cool. I am very tough on clothes, but think these will be around a long time. They have a great fit, but one caveat, I had to exchange the mediums for a large pair. All my other Mountain Hard Wear pants in size medium fit perfectly, but these were way off in the waist--the length was fine. (I wear a 33/30.) If you are near the upper range of waist measurements in your normal size, I'd order one size up.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueVersatile for everyday wear or more technical use

Love the way these pants are great for hiking, warm weather skiing but can be worn for everyday around town. Short length is great option for boots and other bulky footwear requiring a shorter pant. Comfortable durable stretch fabric that repels water. Waist belt design is a surprise bonus. Cost justified as a premium pant.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, snap closure
