This is a great jacket
I love this jacket. It is a warm durable and packs great. Just don't get it to wet. It will handle a mist and a really light rain but not much more than that. Other than that I have had this for about a year in the northern Illinois winter and it has been a great jacket so far.

Tough & warm, bit of a large fit
Nice features: Fabric is heavier/more durable to other puffy jackets in this category which makes the jacket cram pack, throw in the trunk, sit on, damage resitant. There are plenty of pockets & a couple of nice synch cords to seal out the wind. Con: No real cons other than the jacket does seem to run a bit on the large size. I'm 150lbs, 30" waist and will return the medium for a small.

excellent jacket
When I unpacked the jacket at first I was concerned how warm it would be compared to my other(different brand) more bulky down jacket, but I found that this jacket was plenty warm in our cold windy Minnesota climate and even warmer than the other more bulky jacket.

Would have paid more.....
Got this jacket at a fantastic sale price and have loved it ever since. I have bigger and warmer DJ's, but unless it is Alaska cold (coldest part of winter), this is the jacket that comes out of my pack when the temp drops. Get one, you will not be disappointed.

great jacket, believe what you read about it!
It just does what it claims to do! True to size, very wind resistant, warm and comfortable. Has been great in a cold, windy high desert environment.

Great light weight jacket!!
I bought this jacket as an all around winter jacket. I have been more than impressed with the warmth and the light weight. In 20deg temps all I need under it is a tee shirt!! I am 6'2" and 210lbs and the XL works great. It leaves just enough room under it for layering in colder weather.

Outstanding down jacket!
This jacket is warm and light weight; when combined with an outer shell it has proven to be an outstanding buy. Jacket is short in length (only down to your waist) but I found this to be OK with the outer shell. The jacket does not have pit zips which would be a plus.

Excellent jacket that can handle abuse!
Up here in Fort St.John (Northern BC)you need a jacket for cold nights (-35 to -40 deg.C)...Two of my friends purchased this jacket and used it for sheep and elk hunting in the Northern Rockies and in the Aleutian mountains near the border of Alaska. So far the jacket has been outstanding: warm, light, tough. I really like the light cordura on the shoulders and the back side of the arms. The Nuptse jacket by TNF does not have that abrasion resistant fabric. Great if you're going to carry a pack! The little stuff sack they give you is also a convenient bonus. Very light and outstanding for wilderness adventures, classy enough for town wear.

Great down coat!
And at a price you can't beat. Reinforced elbows, convenient pouch to pack it in, good zippers, and overall great construction. However its only 650 fill, good for everyday use, but I wouldn't suggest it if you're serious about cold excursions.

Good jacket - Fast delivery
I ordered this jacket just before Christmas and was told it would be here in January but instead it arrived a few days before Christmas .. so great delivery. The jacket so far has proved to be just what I was looking and for and I am not disappointed in UK weather. The real test will be soon when I travel to Moscow in the height of their winter but I don't, based on my trial so far expect any nasty surprises. In short a good comfortable jacket and a good purchase. The range of larger sizes in fantastic and better than the UK.Will be back again I am sure, keep up the larger size stocks please.

My family & I went to Loveland Pass, Co. for Xmas vacation 2007 where the temperature stayed anywhere from 12 degrees F. to -5 degrees F. I wore the Sub Zero Jacket & stayed warm the whole time. Durable choice
The MHW Subzero is the most durable "lightweight" down jacket I have ever owned. Reinforcing on arms and shoulders help keep it from getting torn up. Less expensive than most comparable jackets too.

This is a great jacket, very comfortable. I love wearing it on cold days, when it's on I feel like I am still lying in my warm bed. The construction is great and it has a spot for a water bottle inside to keep the water from freezing. The pockets are nice too, fleece lined:)

Couldn't be better
I love this jacket. Granted I wouldn't take it deep into the Sierras in January, don't think that is its purpose. Have had it up on a couple of 14,000 footers and it worked great. The price I got it for couldn't be beat anywhere. Trust me I looked. Would buy it again if the need arises, even at a higher price.

Great Value & Lightweight Warmth
Much better value than the Nuptse. The construction and the reinforced areas are very durable for when walking through thick woods. And despite the unusually warm weather, there were a few very cold weekends in upper New York state, it proved to be a very warm jacket minimal weight and packing space that is the magic qualities of down with the stuffsack. There was just one problem I found, above it is advertised as being a baffle construction, this isn't true in any part of the jacket but generally is only used in down suits and hooded jackets. The inside pocket is good for goggles and maps, and the fleece lined pockets are very nice. Fits well with multiple layers, and great under a shell while retaining mobilty all over. Thumbs up to MH for a great jacket and to Altrec for great price and customer service.

Absolute great looking and great preforming product!
The Mountain Hardware Sub Zero Down Jacket is a very sharp looking and great fitting jacket. It is worth every penny I paid for it! It has a very sharp look, and the perfomance is exactly what you would expect from Mountain Hardware. Living in the southern United States, it has not seen extreme temperatures for use, but the construction, materials, and fit are a thumbs up! One very minor complaint, and I do mean minor. The material in the neck collar is a little colder than I would like. Some warm fleece on the inside would have been better. Other than that, this jacket gives you it's money's worth. You will NOT be disappointed.

Awesome Puffy Jacket, Better than my Northface
The best puffy down jacket that I have owned. I have a Northface version that just does not compare. MHW is not as puffy, and just as warm. The external shell seems a little thicker and is made of two type of fabric. I am very satisfied with this jacket.

This is the best jacket I own. I dare not take it out in the rain, due to the fact it's down. I used this jacket for a euro trip and it kept warm and comfy. I always felt like I was in a nice sleeping bag. It's made very well and offers a great deal of warmth.

Great down jacket for the price
I am extremely satisfied with my Sub Zero jacket. From winter hiking to taking the puppy out at dawn, this jacket provides superior warmth. After hiking in brush and snagging the jacket on a variety of branches, I was able to witness for myself the high quality of tear resistant material that is used to construct the jacket. I highly recommend the Sub Zero to all those who are looking for a warm down jacket.

Comfortable, warm and low bulk
Very well made, warm, comfortable & lightweight. I've found the 650 fill in the sub-zero jacket is comfortable and low in bulk w/o sacrificing warmth, it's just right as an outer layer in low to mid 30's & mid 40's w/light wind. It rolls up nicely in the included / seperate logo'd stuff bag which make it very easy to transport & get to easily - if the temp drops dramatically.

lightweight and warm jacket
I recently purchased the Mountain Hardware Sub Zero jacket. I have never been a fan of down because every other down jacket I have purchused has been heavy and uncomfortable. The Sub Zero jacket shocked me when I first tried it on, for it was warm, light, and comfortable. The jacket has many great features, such as drawcords meant for adjusting the jacket's size in different places. My Sub Zero feels like it was custom fit. The Sub Zero is also very durable. It has withstood many events which would have torn any other jacket to pieces. I would highly reccomend the Sub Zero for anyone who is looking for a durble, lightweight, warm jacket.

Warm but not overly bulky and very well designed - the fleece pockets are a nice touch. The whole backs of the arms and the shoulders are made from a tougher material which makes tthe jacket pretty sturdy. Buy this instead of the Nuptse and you can spend 50 more dollars on beer.

Terrific warmth for the weight
The jacket performs great as a stand alone or layered under a shell (such as the MH Exposure II Parka). It keeps me very warm, even in wind and cold rain. The nylon shell appears a bit thin, but so far it has held up well. The jacket also compacts nicely. The jacket as a whole is designed very well; I especially like the fleece-lined pockets.

Most comfortable down I've ever owned. This is my second MH sub zero down jacket. I've been using my first mainly for outdoor photography work and it has never let me down. I live in New England where the winter is brutal and this jacket lives up to it's name. Warm, versatible and easy to pack even when lugging around heavy photographic equipment, or just doing errands. Highly recommended.
