Very nice shell.
The fit is great. The body length is good and the sleeves are long, but not overly long like some other manufacturer's jackets. I am 5'8" and 157lbs and I got a medium. The jacket is very light and hopefully will be durable.

Great Jacket
Bought this primarily as an outer shell for the late fall/winter. When layered in the fall with the Windstopper Tech jacket and winter with a OR down sweater, the combos are hard to beat! Warm, dry, windproof-what more could you ask? Having used the NF Venture for years, I decided to give it a break and go for the Goretex and am not at all disappointed. If I could change any one feature, it would be to add elastic in the cuffs. I like the double flap as opposed to the "weather seal" type of closure. Another great product from Mountain Hardwear.

GoreTex is the best!
I bought this jacket for my husband and he uses it a lot for shoveling the driveway in cold Wisconsin weather (then I don't have to!). He likes the color (sapphire), the style, the placement of the pockets, and the pit zips. He said the velcro tabs along the zipper are a bit inconvenient, but overall, this jacket protects him well from the elements.

another good review
will spare everyone the redundantcy of its great features & just say that the only thing i noticed was that the hand pockets are a bit forward. takes a little getting use to, still an extremely light, packable overall great rain/wind breaker

No sweat, no wet.
I finally got to wear this jacket on a rainy misty hike in the Ozarks. The temp was low 60's,light rain, no wind. We hiked hard up very tough no trail terrain. I never had any condensation on the inside and I did not overheat. I thought this jacket did just what it was built for. The constuction on the jacket is great too. Big pit zips and true to size.

Dry is good, wet is not!! Typhoon does the trick.
great price, Goretex, packs down very small, very light. Have used couple of time on overnights on the AT, as a windbreaker and a rain coat. Keeps you dry, nice vents, nice pockets and hood brim. Purchased a small stuff sack to keep it in.

One word for this jacket: GREAT
I took this jacket with me during a two months super trip to the Andes of Peru and Bolivia, and two thumbs up for the folks of Mountain Hardwear, they did their homework! This jacket kept me warm and protected me from Andean snowfall, rain and freezing winds, from kayaking in the sea to the summit of 20,000 ft mountains. I had this jacket on almost all the time. My buddies' jackets (The North Face's) all brand new didn't perform as well as mine, they had condensation and the material (goretex pro shell) froze during snowfalls with wind, while mine kept perfect. Excelent piece of technical outdoors shell.

A WINNER!!!
Just received this jacket, and used it on an 8 mile day hike. In a day that produced 2-1/2 inches of rain, this jacket met and exceeded all of my expectations. It kept me completely dry, and with the pit zips, I didn't overheat. This shell outperforms all of my previous shells!! I can't wait to try it skiing.

TOP SHAPE JACKET
I’ve been shopping for a sale-priced pac-lite jacket for a while, found this one on Altrec for a steal. Shipped in no time. Had a Marmot Oracle before this, but the lining decomposed to powder after a few years, do not go there. I got a medium, the fit is great – I’m 5'10, chest 39-40 in. Torso length is just right, not so long that it will grab your hips or butt when you bend and twist, but still covers waist area. Hood fits well, not a lot of excess. The cinch cord pulls it snug around your head. At rest and during normal movement it stays out of your eyes, but you can still slide it forward over eyes if you try. Just wear a visor or hat and any problem would be solved. No hood in my limited experience is perfect, but this one does a good job of it. The jacket’s key is simplicity, lightweight and general use, for which it seems ideal. It isn’t specific to climbing or biking. If you have helmet concerns, try it with the helmet first before you buy it. You don’t want to spend good money on something that really doesn’t suit your purposes. The pit zips open upwards easily enough, but zipping them back down takes a bit of meddling, it stops about halfway where the fabric sags, then you need to pull it tight from the sleeve cuff before you can complete the zip. Chest zips are easy and convenient with pack straps. Can’t say how much heat venting they provide as I haven’t hiked/run with it yet. Wrist Velcro is generous and simple, and great for me because I have narrow wrists. The sleeves do run long, about 34’, but the Velcro straps take care of excess. As for the quality rain protection, still haven’t had occasion for that, but I am confident the gore-tex will do the trick. Can’t say anything about long-term durability, but I’m not too worried. Buy it!

The Typhoon Jacket has worked out amazingly as a shell for outside activities. I have been doing quite a bit of winter hiking and it has held up extremely well.

keeper
Nice jacket. I had the GTX 2.5 but had serious problems with the zipper. Got the Typhoon instead and saved some bucks. For the money it's a great deal. I like the Paclite Gortex weight. In the South, you hardly need more unless you are in the Appalachian Mtns. I haven't had much opportunity to check out the hood but it seems like it will do the job just fine. I think the hardcore adrenaline junky mountaineer types will want more than the jacket can provide, but they will pay for it as well. I shopped hard for a Gortex jacket and found this to be a great value and a keeper. Great pricing from Altrec as well! Thanks.

Excellent Jacket
I have had this jacket for over six months now and find it worth every cent. I have other goretex jackets and they are no comparison to this jacket. It packs tightly using very little space in the back pack and is virtually weightless. It keeps you completely dry from both the rain and from body moisture as it breaths so well and doesn't build any body heat. To sum it up, extremely light and packs small, and keeps you dry.

Can't beat the price
Got the blue on sale for 119...The jacket has double-flap w/ velcro over the front zipper instead of a waterproof zipper, which I would have preferred. It's light as a feather and kept me dry on my wet trip to the farmers market this weekend.

Very light and does the job.
So far I've only tested it with a quick walk in the rain, but it worked perfectly. I bought this for a trip to the Pacific NW and at the reduced price it is a great buy.

Nice Shell
I picked up this jacket as a reasonably priced jacket for skiing. Bomber waterproof which I like, a little too light weight for my intended use. Sizing seems to be different (bigger)than other Mountain Hardwear I tried on.

Good Rain Jacket
I purchased this jacket after getting caught too many times in the rain. In the last heavy downpour I wore this jacket and was comfortably dry. Although I bike, hike, climb and run, I would only wear this hiking because I'd rather get wet than to impede my vision (with the hood on) or have the jacket flapping in the wind.

Spend the extra $50 for an Arc'teryx packlite
This jacket retails for $300 Canadian. At that price for a lightweight jacket, I would expect a gamut of high end features. The biggest problem with this jacket is the double flap front. It seems illogical for a company like MH to sell a high end lightweight jacket without waterproof zippers. At that price, you would certainly expect it. On some old models, MH had a stiff flap over the zipper that was much more convenient than the double flap with velcros that are quickly wearing down. Secondly, the hood could not be more poorly designed. As a rock climber and cyclist, I would expect a hood that would nicely accommodate a helmet. The problem does not lie in the size of the hood, but the overall design. The single drawcord at the back allows the helmet to be tightened around the face. However, the hood falls so far over you eyes that it is almost impossible to use as you are cycling or belaying without risking serious injuries. Why is there not another drawcord to pull the hood back from your face? Overall, I was looking at for a solid gore-tex packlite jacket and I bought mountain hardwear because of MH’s supposedly high attention to details and quality craftsmanship. However, for an additional $50, I should have bought Arc'teryx's packlite jacket and gotten the quality features I would otherwise expect on mountain hardwear products.
