March 07, 2011

This is my "go to" - nice styling, and super comfortable and lightweight, like it's almost not there. XL fits me well (6' 210lbs). Anti-microbial won't hide odors like wool does, but they can always be washed! Haven't gone bushwacking in them, but they seem much more durable/snag-resistant than some other synthetic shirts.

Currently the most comfortable wicking T
June 18, 2011

I have several wicking T-shirts. These include, several different brands from North Face, Marmot, Columbia, Gap, and Mountain Hardware. These T's from MH are the best I have. I normally wear the North Face SS velocity crew, and these have now replaced them as my quick go to T's. I only use them as undershirt T's and for that they do very well.

Great Shirt!
June 07, 2011

This shirt is great for hot days it fits loose and is light. The anti- microbial helps a little but does not stop all smell after lots of sweating. So far these are my favorite shirts to wear for hiking and ever day use because of the light weight and comfort of the material.

Great shirt for sure
August 03, 2011

Fits perfect, good quality, very comfortable, packable, light weight, quick dry, etc. We were hiking around 90F (with high humidity) for almost 2 hours and this shirt works so well, wicking fast and you always feel dry and comfortable.

Amazing Everyday Shirt
March 24, 2011

First and foremost, do not be deterred by the price tag. This shirt may be a bit pricey, but considering its quality and comfort, the price point is perfect. COMFORT: I got to the point where I simply could not tolerate cotton t-shirts anymore. They are uncomfortable, wrinkly, and constraining, and left me searching for something else. So I bought this shirt to wear as an everyday shirt -- not necessarily for hiking, but a shirt that could be thrown on and would provide comfort and ventilation all day. The first time I put it on, I was amazed -- it actually does not even feel like you're putting a shirt on; it sort of glides on your body. And when I have it on, sometimes I forget i'm actually wearing a shirt -- that's how good the ventilation is. I hardly sweat in the shirt like I do in cotton t-shirts (and I'm a heavy sweater). With that said, the shirt fabric is shockingly THIN. Time will tell if the thinness will be detrimental to durability. SIZING: I ordered a size M in Black, and I'm 5'9". The fit was PERFECT. Perfect length, as well. Definitely do not go for a L unless you're pushing 6 feet or above. CONCLUSION: Amazing shirt for everyday wear. Very thin, well-ventilated, and comfortable. Washes very well. Time will tell if thinness of fabric will be a problem.

June 20, 2011

Love sthis shirt. It is so lightweight and breathable. Hiking in the summer heat is not quite as bad with this type of shirt. MH has done such a good job at making it light, but durable. I am very pleased with this shirt, and wear it all the time. A little pricey, but worth every penny.

Long tail, form fit, good shirt.
June 20, 2011

It's more of a form fitting shirt but that's what i was looking for. The length is on the longer side so mixing that with the tighter fit it makes for a good running shirt. Based on the size guide i was L and ended up happy with that choice. Not sure i'd go for another one, but might grow on me after a few more runs.

The very best wicked T I ever had
May 27, 2011

I am a big sweater. During working out, I can easily produce more than 2lb of sweat. This wicked T is the best wicked T I ever had -- light weighted and dried ultra fast. It is very comfortable as well; unlike some of the wicked T, after I sweat I felt the fabric is soaked in water and sticks to my skin. This Mountain Hardware wicked T is not like that; it does not produce the wet, sticky felling. It dries very fast as well; with good circulation of air (today the humidity about 70%), my soaked through fabric is dried within half an hour. Very pleased to this product, and going to by 2 more!

I spent a long time reviewing various non t-shirt t-shirts. This product is the first Mountain Hardwear product I have purchased, and I must say I am very impressed. Fast-drying. Doesn't feel like you're wearing a soaking-wet t-shirt while you're working out. Would highly recommend this shirt.

Wicked Lite and Wicked Good!
April 27, 2012

As we say in Boston, this shirt is wicked Good, and one of the best wicking shirts you can get. I have quite an array of them and I really like how they worked over the years to get the weight down and still have a shirt that provides good coverage and that doesn't fall apart when put through it's paces. The newer versions hold up better as well, the old versions would fray or snag easy and the newer ones don't. The Wicked Lite Shirt is a great shirt for running or almost any sport activity. My only problems with this shirt is, I don't like them under a pack, they are not as comfortable as some other shirts I use for backpacking in hot weather. I also don't like them in direct sunlight if I am just sitting around as they seem to magnify the heat in some respects. But if you are running around they are fine and also work great under a windproof jacket or rain jacket if it's hot out. I also use these shirt for under a dress shirt if I am going to work and plan to go outside for lunch. I can peel off the dress shirt, run around outside, sweat and the wicking will dry it up and I can go back in put the dress shirt back on for the rest of the day. All in all, a very versatile top.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: don't feel great under a pack.

Wicked Lite
April 05, 2010

This shirt is the lightest dry fit type shirt ive worn. I wear it mountain biking and it is durable and breathable. Definitely recommend it. Probably should have ordered a large though, im 6'0 180 and the medium is a little on the tight side.

Review update
June 16, 2009

After recently purchasing and finally using my MT Hardware Wicked T this past weekend, I found three pulls in the fabric, before I even got to use the shirt. I called Altrec and wrote to Mt Hardware. This is the reply I got from Mt Hardware CS: Thanks for your interest in Mountain Hardwear and your inquiry regarding the Wicked T. The loose weave of the Wicked T fabric that makes the garment very breathable and allows it to wick moisture can be susceptible to snagging. Thanks for your interest in Mountain Hardwear. Best Regards, Joe Web Customer Service Unfortunately, I will be returning these otherwise great looking shirts and bought two each of TNF, Patagonia and Alpine shirts instead. Can't say enough about the Mt Hardware pants and jackets!

Thicker material but still thin for all weather wicking
June 15, 2010

The fabric will catch on things(branches, fences). I've worn this shirt at least 1 time every week for over 6 months in SE asia. Still going strong. I like newer 2009-10 Wicked T Lite fit even better though.

great fit, look, and function
June 21, 2010

Super Lite with Reinfored Seams
July 07, 2009

I needed a a shirt that could take the abuse of taking a pack off and on; while being lite enough that when I wash and hang it after a day on the trail, it'll be dry in the morning. (Bought two so that I'll always have a clean shirt to change into the next day.) Athletic fit means there is no excess material to bunch up and create discomfort in the shoulder or hip straps of your pack. Very pleased with Mountain Hardwear gear - esp. these shirts.

Everyone should own a few of these shirts
August 24, 2009

I have a number of these types of shirts from many brands, but this MHW version really is becoming my favorite. Better than the last version, the material feels denser, yet lightweight, and moves comfortably across the skin with no resistance or restriction of movement. I've used it for trail running and soccer with perfect comfort and performance.

Super wicking
March 16, 2010

Great fit, super wicking. My favorite technical t-shirt and I've had a bunch. Slim fit, but not tight, and the longer length is nice. Only reason I won't give a 5 is because I don't know how it lasts since I've only had it a month.

Excellent hiking shirt
July 05, 2011

I just spent a couple of weeks in southwestern Colorado, alternating between desert and mountain elevations. The Mountain Hardwear wicked lite tee shirt worked perfectly in both environments. It is ideal for hiking due to its light weight, wicking ability, fit, and always seeming to have a sense of freshness. The reasonble cost and color options are also pluses. I have tee shirts from several different outdoor companies and now the Mountain Hardwear wicked lite tee shirt is all that I buy.

Remarkably light
May 29, 2011

I recently exchanged this shirt for another moisture wicking shirt and was pleased when I tried this one on. The material is just as durable but seems to be a lot more "breathable". The only minor gripe I have with this shirt is the fact that the length is a tad long. Normally I would send a shirt back for this reason, but this shirt fits so well in every other sense that I chose to keep it. The athletic fit of the shirt prevents the length of the shirt to be too noticeable because it falls at your hips and bunches slightly (if the shirt were roomier it might wear like a nightshirt). In short, it is well worth the few extra dollars for a fine active shirt.

Great Summer shirt, runs small...
May 12, 2011

This shirt is ideal for extremely hot conditions. It is perhaps the lightest base layer I have ever tried, and compared to other ones, such a Patagonia's Cap1 it has a much less "plastic-like" feeling on the skin. Price is right too. It does however run small compared to other brands. I wear a small in both Patagonia and Arcteryx, but this one feels way more constraining (i.e. if I lift my arms the shirt feels too tight around my chest and in the armpits). However, the material feels very comfortable. Just remember: if in doubt, I would definitely size up.

Favorite Running Tee
August 17, 2011

I've owned this shirt for two month, and have put in quite a few miles wearing it, training for a half marathon during the hottest summer the Midwest has experienced in most folk's memory. Sweat just seems to soak away to nothing. I know I'm sweating buckets and the shirt barely feels damp - I just feel the wind as I trot along. Doesn't hold stink too much either. Most comfortable shirt I've ran in yet. Cut and fit are nice - no bunching anywhere. I am 6'3", 215lbs, with a 46" chest and the XL fits the way I like it - semifitted around the chest and back, slightly loose around my sides. Nice shirt.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use

October 13, 2009

I'll never go back to a cotton workout shirt again. This shirt helps keeps me cool during even the hardest cardio workout. Seems to me to run a little small. I usually wear medium but shoulders were too small, so had to switch to large.

Good shirt for the price
March 01, 2012

I liked the wicking capability of this shirt. I've used it in a few vigorous yoga classes and have hardly had any moisture build up. My only complaint would be that the fit was not very athletic. I am 6ft tall and about 180 lbs and I bought the LG. The fit was just a little to baggy for my liking. Other than that I like the shirt. It seems to be well made like all Mountain Hardware products and I would not hesitate to purchase this shirt.

Excellent T-shirt
August 14, 2011

I like this shirt very much. The finish is much smoother and nicer than on the old Mtn Hardware shirts, and the fit and proportions are a little better. I think it will be less prone to snags than the old model, but every shirt I've had with a lightweight synthetic fabric is relatively susceptible to snags (much more so than cotton), so I think you need to plan to be careful in that regard (and keep it away from Velcro under any circumstances). The drape and hand of the fabric is good and the shirt is very presentable when the occasion calls for a reasonably good-looking t-shirt (I would not say that about the old one). Breathability and comfort are still excellent. Nice color. One of my favorite T-shirts.

Decent Shirt, but Not the
April 13, 2010

Quite frankly, I expected more out of this shirt given previous reviews. The material is more fragile than I thought it would be and it has no UV protection. I ordered the large and while it fits well around the torso the length is too long.

Best technical T-shirt so far
December 11, 2009

The wicked lite is the best technical T I've found so far. The material is very lightweight, but is very durable at the same time. I've run through overgrown trails and snagged the shirt on thorns only to find the shirt still looking new. I've had one of these for over a year and it has seen weekly use and washing and still looks new. I use these for running and rock climbing.

Great Synthetic Wicker
July 11, 2011

This T-shirt delivers as expected. It fits in the typical athletic sizing found in outdoor gear--the XL fit me (6'3", athletic 225lb) in the usual slim way--and was comfortable even under a pack for 40+ miles in Glacier NP; credit flat seams, good fit, and just the right amount of stretch. Of course it is cool, dries fast, and is of the quality you'd expect from a leading brand. Still, I give it only "Good" marks for comfort and durability because I find wool to beat synthetic in those respects and you always give up a bit of durability when you go this light and thin. The antimicrobial treatment helps defeat your stench but again wool outperforms synthetic in that area. Never-the-less, if you want the lightest, wicking-est t-shirt for those hot summer slogs this is the gear for you.

Great shirt, but fits smaller than North Face
June 21, 2011

This was exactly the shirt I was looking for. The material is sort of a wicking mesh, really light and comfy. However, I wear a size medium for any of the North Face wicking t-shirts. I'm 5'11" 190, and ordered a medium and needed to return it for a large.

super lightweight
February 16, 2011

I love these shirts from Mountain Hardwear! They are very lightweight and cool for summer. Once you start wearing these shirts you'll want to throw all your cotton T-shirts away! These shirts are great for hiking, running, or just out on the town. They are well made and highly recommended!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: Cost

Great work out shirt
May 23, 2009

I like how it keeps you cool as perpiration dries. It's better than a tank top for comfort and keeping dry. No more sopping wet cotton shirts!

Great T-shirt

Extremely light weight; great for a workout. Fit is a little snug, if you like a baggier fit, probable could order one size up.

My son is 6' tall and weighs approx. 190 lbs and wears a size large and fits him perfectly.

great exercise shirt
May 19, 2009

Better than cotton T - I'm just disappointed I didn't know about these shirts sooner. Sweated like crazy and it soaked it up and wicked it away without discoloring or smelling. Quite amazing piece of clothing. Titanium grey large fits great at 6'2" 190lbs, lean.

nice shirt, runs small
December 29, 2011

This is a nice shirt, but I thought it ran small, especially in the shoulders. Based on other reviews and the size the model was wearing, I ordered a MD for my 5'10", 175 lb. husband who usually wears a MD in other workout shirts. It arrived and the shoulders looked very narrow. I ended up not giving it to him and will be returning it. The color (blue) and material are nice.

Very comfortable shirt
June 16, 2011

This is one of the most comfortable t-shirts I have ever owned. It is very light, dries quickly, and the fabric is extremely soft. I am not sure how durable it will be, since I have only had it a short time.

Love the wicked lite shirt
June 16, 2011

It does fit true-to-size but I would say that it might be slightly smaller than other T-shirts I have bought in the past. I am 5'8" and 150lbs (bought a medium). It is super light and comfortable. Wicks moisture away very quickly and is great to wear with any recreational activities.

Even better than before
June 26, 2011

The Wicked Lite has been my favorite summer shirt since it was introduced. It's extremely lite weight and therefore it's wicking properties allow it to dry very quickly. Well, the shirt has now gotten even better. It has those same properties but it now is more durable than it was prior. No more piling of the fabric under a pack! This is a major plus as the shirt will last even longer than it had already. I'm ordering more, get 'em while they last!

Great T-Shirt
November 10, 2010

I have several of these and wear them for work in the emergency room, kayaking, hiking and casual wear in all seasons. They are a great weight and they wick well. They are much better in quality and performance than the old wicked T. I liked the old wicked T's, but these are so much better.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, wicking ability

Every Day
September 14, 2009

I wear this as a t-shirt under my shirts almost every day and by itself as well. It's the most breathable t-shirt there is. Just wash in front-loader or in a mesh bag as it is delicate. Nothing beats it's breathability though!

Still can't find a better Hot Weather Tee !

This shirt is soft yet extremely durable. It continues to be my favorite shirt as I own it in four different colors!

This shirt's reputation seems almost legendary that i just had to get myself one. Got it on sale at altrec.com. Sweet deal! Ordered the red color. It is much darker shade of red than as seen on the website. Putting on i immediately felt how light and thin the material felt. I ordered the size "M". The fit is roomy and not skin-tight. The length came to about slightly below the waist, was just right. I am 5'10" and weigh 156 pounds. Took it for a spin hiking and needless to say, at 77% humidity - after 45 mins the shirt was all saturated with perspiration and stuck to my body. All the other shirts i've used ( Marmot, The North Face) likewise. What differ's is that MH wicked lite tee seems to be the thinest of the lot. Yet the material is durable enough to not have any snags from me using a fanny waist pack. I continued to wear the shirt home and in about an hour it dried up. I did not launder the shirt immediately but hung it up to dry. I used the shirt for another 2 days and did the same thing. I wanted to see if the shirt would hold a stink. Surprisingly there was none! While i am only used this shirt for a few days, i have some suggestions on how they can make this shirt "perfect". How about using a more denser fabric over the shoulders and at the lower back? then this shirt would be the ideal backpacking/hiking shirt!

Ultralight Backpackering Shirts
July 10, 2012

This Shirt is super light and airy! It wicks moisture very well and dries super fast! The light material seems that it might snag easily but has not yet after several outings. The stitching, fit and finish are all very good. The fit for me was spot on with my normal size.

Great Running Shirt

This shirt is true to size (i'm 6ft and bought a large). Very lightweight, durable shirt that does a good job of wicking away the sweat. I should have bought several more.

Very good light weight wicking T that works, looks & feels great and not prone to snagging in the bush.

Great shirt! Wicks away the sweat!!
May 10, 2010

This shirt feels great against the skin and is fully functional in the heat of summer. Won't stick or bunch up! Yet another great article of clothing from Mountain Hardwear!!

Great Lightweight Shirt
May 25, 2009

This shirt keeps me cool in the hot humid conditions we have here in KY. Dries quick and the offset shoulder seams really make a difference when carrying a heavy pack. My only complaint was that one of my shirts has a few small snags on it, but that is to be expected when hiking through thick brush

Love them!
July 11, 2010

Whether enjoying a walk of an 8 mile hike in Santa Fe or kicking sand on Clearwater Beach, these Ts are the greatest for breathability and comfort. And they are great in the cardio room, too.
