Good pack
This is a large pack with lots of extra room. I took it on a trip and it held my laptop and iPad with room left for more! I would highly recommend this pack to the road warrior.

Paladin Backpack used for motorcycle riding
I agonized over this, wanted to purchase a pack that would replace my briefcase so I could throw it on my back and ride my motorcycle to work. This pack is exceptional. Good build quality. High quality water resistant zippers. LOVE the side access to my netbook. Straps are well padded and the pack feels good to carry. I am 6' 1" 220lbs and I am comfortable with it (a lot of packs felt short like they only clung to the upper part of my back, this one covers the majority of my back). Only negative thing I can say about it is that I wish it was a little bigger. This exact same pack but 35 liters would be perfect in my opinion. 30 liter is just a tad small. The lashing points are a major plus because I an strap extra gear to the pack, including my helmet case. Would definitely buy this pack again.

Great laptop backpack
I am that guy who researches every option before I pull the trigger on a product. What was I looking for when I selected this product? I live in Seattle and need a bag that can stand up to the elements (read: rain) and this bag excels in this regard. Also, I like to compartmentalize my stuff, so having adequate pouches that are logically placed and easily accessible is huge plus. This bag delivers in that regard as well. What I also wanted a durable, comfortable and aesthetically appealing bag from a manufacturer that I trust: Mountain Hardware delivered. This bag is rugged (well built), comfortable (adjusts easily to fit the contours of my body) and cool looking (mine is all black). I have actually received compliments from strangers on this bag - which is definitely a first. Buy it, you'll love it.

Stylish and Tough
Only recently started using this product but it got tested early by accidentally being left outside for a day of thunderstorms. I was surprised to find that the newspapers and magazines I had loaded it up with to try it on were dry as a bone. I guess the Palidin can handle rain. The features are smart and well constructed. It looks good and feels strong. I think this backpack will be a favorite for a long time.

Great choice for my needs.
I was looking forward to the arrival of the Paladin Day pack from Mountain Hardwear and I've not been disappointed. It's a great travel mate for business and third world travels. Toss this baby around the streets, taxi's, planes, chicken buses of Central America and it's ready to take on more abuse. Plenty of pockets and spaces to hide and sometimes forget what pocket you have stored that IPod. There is tons of room for personnel gear on weekend/overnight travel. As a great day run around I also purchased Mountain Scrambler day pack.

Great for office on the go
I'm a frequent-flier professional with a need to carry my laptop, a waterproof jacket and about a 1000 pounds of other stuff (power chargers, books, documents, computer accessories) - you name it. This pack fits the bill. External laptop access makes it easy to get through airport security. Internal side pockets are great to keep my computer AC adapter, external drive, mouse and other things from banging around. Other pockets are great too. I like the size, the shape and the features. What I REALLY do NOT like are the crossed yellow bands on the pack that make the pack look too busy... A one horizontal or vertical (just like on their Defender pack) strap would be just enough. Aside from that one complaint, I think this is a fantastic pack - far better in value and features then most of laptop backpack available on the market.

Pretty well thought out.
Bad stuff first- it's too small for books. I have a friend with a Guardian (the "smaller" version of this bag, I think it's 22 Liters and the Paladin is about 30 Liters) and he has a lot of room for books so you can hit campus for the day and take what you need. I bought the Paladin because I wanted more room for an extra layer and so I could have external access for my laptop. The extra 8 Liters of space in this bag is almost unusable (and I don't know where it is to be honest you can't tell by opening it and looking, that the bag is "bigger"). It's long and narrow and lacking depth (which goes to show buy a bag based on a volume measurement- I couldn't find the actual dimensions anywhere, just the volume). Which would be fine, if it weren't a school bag. I don't think they did anything useful, like measuring a text book, before they designed this thing. You can fit a lot more "school" stuff in the Guardian. Also, the internal side pockets are almost useless, because they make it even harder to get text books in, as does the accessory pocket on the front of the bag. Some of the interior organizer pockets are also useless (they're too thin for anything of value to fit in them (a single magazine doesn't count)) . However, It is a true Mountain Hardwear product once you get past the fact that it's no good at carrying books. It's very well made (tough, good seams) and some of the details on the bag (organizer lid, water resistant zippers, daisy chains, water bottle side pockets) are well done. I do like the external access to the laptop, and I really like the fact that the bottom of the laptop compartment is suspended off the bottom of the bag quite a ways so that when you set the bag down, your computer never hits (I've always looked for this and nobody does it with their computer bags, it seems like a no-brainer to me). To sum up, it's a well-made product, and it'll be tough, and it has a few really nice details, but they obviously never actually tried to use it as a school bag. The proportions make it completely unusable if you have to carry more than a couple of paperbacks and a binder less than 2" thick.
