I really, really enjoy this skirt. I'm 5 foot 6 inches tall and it comes just above my knee so it is appropriate for many situations. I haven't had it terribly long, so I'm not sure if it's going to last, but I have always had good luck with Mountain Hardwear products. I got a great deal on it, and am so happy that I bought it!

Love this skirt!
This is one of the most comfortable skirts I have ever worn! I am about to order another in a different color. I like that it is longer and is very light weight. Lots of pockets and extra flare/room at the bottom make it a great skirt that doesn't confine movement A must have for around town, hiking or just lounging!

great skirt, true to size
oops. based on reviews, I ordered down. It actually fits true to size. Awesome pockets, stretch, versatile length, etc. Only wish it came in Black! Haven't had it long enough to know about durability or performance.

Not as good as it used to be, but still good
This skirt is super cute and very well made. I have it from a few years ago and got it in a different color. I am disappointed that the material seems to have been changed: it is a little rougher and heavier than my earlier version of it--which makes it hotter and not as light. However, it fits great, looks great and I'm keeping it. Just wish it were the same fabric as the one I love!

Great casual skirt
I read earlier reviews that this skirt ran large in the waist, so I bought a size smaller - it actually runs true to size - it's supposed to sit lower than the waist - top of the hips, so the one I ordered was too small to fit properly. I don't love the return policy - couldn't find a way to just exchange it for the right size and the price went up quite a bit making it out of my budget to just buy a another. I also had to pay and arm and a leg + insurance to send it back. So, I LOVE the skirt - it's a great sporty/casual skirt, beautiful color (I chose the ice blue) - I just recommend ordering your regular size knowing it sits a little low. I hope the price goes back down so I can think about buying it again. I won't risk returns with Altrec in the future. That part was disappointing and expensive!

Casual Skirt
I purchased a size 4 skirt that is somewhat tight to get on but the skirt fits best around the waist. I normally wear a size 6, but the waist was too large. Comfortable skirt, great to wear around or at work.

Great skirt
Ordered this skirt before- other reviewers commented that the skirt ran large- I found this to be true as well. I normally wear a 10, bought an 8- perfect. Long enough to let you squat or bend over when chasing children, and I am 6' tall. A-line fit is flattering.

Too Big
This skirt is great. The fabric is soft, and the construction is very well done. It does have a bit of an odd cut. I wish I had ordered two sizes down. This skirt is a size smaller than I normally wear and it still swims on me. Nice length. I am 5'5 and it falls mid-knee.

Didn't work for me
The material for this skirt feels great and is fashionable, but the cut doesn't work for a figure like mine. I am 5'4" and 130 pounds, have a small waist and curvy thighs. I ordered a size 8 and the skirt was way too big, especially in the waist. Other reviews suggest ordering a size down, which I would agree with. There is no size 6 available, so I am returning these and will try another brand.

Pressure-sore maker
Mountain Hardware made a terrific backpacking skirt in the past. Unfortunately, they have succumbed to fashion over function. The crux of the problem lies in the yoke. It is marketed as possessing a seamless conical waist that feels great under a pack. The truth is that the yoke is seamless on the inside but not on the outside. Just because the lining is seamless does not mean that the garment is seamless. The seams are placed less than 2 inches apart: one around the waist, the other over the hip. This means that if you have a pack on, one of the seams is bound to lie between your pack and the bony prominences of your pelvis that lie just below your waist above your backside. The previous model (2004, 2005) was marketed as a kilt and was well-designed to avoid placing the seams over your pelvis. I backpacked more than 3000 miles in mine over 2 summers. I would pay dearly to find another and had high hopes for this one but I was sorely disappointed.

Good purchase
It runs large but it is a very nice and good quality skirt. I got it in sale.

Comfortable and flattering.
I now own this skirt in two colors. It is perfect for a casual work environment, good coverage. It is also cool and comfortable for a host of outdoor activities. The sizing is generous, I would recommend ordering down a size.

Cool and comfortable!
This skirt is perfect for Florida summers! It is lightweight, cool, breathable and comfortable. Very easy to launder. Runs big, so order one size down.

Great style and function all in one!
i love this skirt! lots of pockets but not bulky, no need to carry a purse. great for bicycling, hiking and dancing. makes you feel dressed up but still sporty. easy to launder too.

versatile and light weight
This skirt's attributes make it the perfect summertime apparel; it's light weight with a flattering shape and length. I would recommend ordering a size down. I usually fall between a 4-6 and the 2 fits well.

I LOVE IT!
This is the most comfortable skirt for backpacking! I am def. going to get more!

Cute, and very light weight
I bought the skirt a size smaller then my pant size, and it fits perfect! I haven't worn it yet, but I bought it for our upcoming to trip to MT. I think it will be perfect for Glacier National parks trails. Can't wait to wear it.

I sent it back
I ordered this skirt and an Isis Excursion at the same time, and ended up returning the Mountain Hardwear skirt. For one thing, it was HUGE -- much larger than normal for a size 14. Also, the quality did not compare to the Isis skirt. I am sorry to see that the Excursion has been discontinued. The Isis skirt washes beautifully and has many wonderful details including a cotton print waistband lining, mesh inside pockets, and an adjustable tab and snap closure. Bring back the Isis Excursion!

great!
I love this skirt. I saw it at Title 9, but they don't carry a 2. I ordered it and I love it. I already want to order another one in another color. Super comfortable.

Great skirt for everything!
I was looking for a skirt for hiking and this one is fantastic! It fits perfect (I am a size 6), has lots of pockets and wears and washes well. I liked it so much I bought another one.

Comfortable, looks great
This skirt is great, it runs a little big though.

fun and easy going
It is a fun skirt that has a great flair and is flattering for any body shape! Love it, and have ordered in 3 colors...all fun! Beware the moon dust color is actually a gray, not an off white as in the picture! Love, Love, Love Mountain Hardwear, made for real women, not models to flatter all!

I like it.
It's a great material. I was hoping it would be a little longer. And it looks wrinkly most of the time. But it's very comfortable and I can ride a bike with it no problem. The waistband is very soft and it's very good quality.

Excellent Skirt
Bought this for a friend and she absolutely loves it. Has the same hardcore material as the other high-end Mountain Hardware clothing lines and fits true to size. Very light weight and comfortable. Good length around the knees. The material around the waist keeps you comfortable all day long, even with a fully loaded pack on. The only oddity was the absence of belt loops - luckily it fit so well she didn't need any but I just found this sort of odd. Great skirt! Would recommend it to any ladies looking for a hardcore skirt to wear outdoors. If you need a belt just sew some loops on.

Love the skirt...runs a size larger
I love the skirt. It is fun and looks to be long wearing. I did have to return the first one for a smaller size. It ran very large. Service...For the return Alrec does not offer exchanges. I had to send one skirt back and place a new order. I am still waiting for a credit confirmation on the return. I did receive the new skirt, a size smaller and in a couple of days.

Great Skirt
Fits true to size and nicely constructed.

summery and lightweight
This skirt runs true to size. It has a nice flare that makes it easy to function in. The fabric is very lightweight and the length is neither too short nor too long.

One of the BEST skirts I own.
I own the Arroyo as well. Both are very comfortable and functional. It does run big as I did consult Mountain Hardware directly. It fits well and is very light. I own two Arroyo and two La Rambla.

So comfortable for most occasions. Perfect fit. Have two of them and am very happy with them both.

cute and comfy
Great for casual work or play, and Altrec gave me super fast shipping.
August 24, 2009
great, soft but tough
La Rambla is a great shirt ! I have 4 ! The low rise is very comfortable, material is soft but tough.

Love the fabric, the cut, the waistband.
I gave up on on shorts long ago in favor of skirts for hiking or riding around town doing errands on my bicycle. But it's not so easy finding a cute functional skirt - one that hits my knees at the right length, with a nice cut and drape allowing for enough swing to take a decent stride whether pushing the stroller or climbing Mt. Washington (ok, these days it's more like the Blue Hills...), and made of material that doesn't wrinkle and show your sweat when you stand up or get off your bike, and you know, one that makes you look all svelt and Italian when you hop off your bike on a muggy August afternoon in Boston... But the pouch pockets aren't so cute on me! And I too think it runs big. (Vanity sizing in athletic clothing? Really?) I am on the four side of the 4-6 but need a 2 in this skirt. The brown is lovely. The icefall is nice. I would like them to make this skirt for me without the pouch pockets. I would then wear it every day.

Ramba in La Rambla!
This skirt is comfortable and stylish! Love it!

I love this skirt
Great style and color but runs almost a full size too big. Looking forward to getting my new one.
June 25, 2009
cute, flippy, functional
Love this skirt. I've bought two of both the brown and the green 'cause I'll be devastated if I end up staining one of them. Wish it would come in black or dark grey and a dark burnt orange too . . . I find it very flattering. I'm generally between a 6-8 and the 6 fits me perfectly. I love the "velvety" texture, though the downside is that it does tend to catch & hold on to lint.

Great fabric
Nice fabric - no wrinkles, light, stain resistant. Great pockets for stuff. I would order a size smaller, it runs kind of big. I will buy more.

I could wear this everyday!
This is a great skirt! Comfortable, quick drying and easy to dress up or down. Very cute and flattering. I have worn it to work and worn it to hike.
