I really like this jacket, it is light but warm and fits true to size. The only thing I would change would be to add mesh to cover the armpit air vents. Men's jackets always have mesh sewn in and women's are just open.
Great Down Option
November 12, 2010
This jacket fits really well. I'm a muscular 5'7", 150 lb, broad shouldered female, and I wasn't sure whether to go with the medium or large. Luckily I went with the medium, and it fits perfectly! It's super warm, and will be perfect on those really chilly to downright cold days. My only concerns are how well the shell will hold up to activity, as it seems to be a little thin, but only time will tell. Also, the pit vents need to have some sort of mesh covering and not be open to the world. Overall, it seems like it's going to be a pretty stellar jacket!
Great Down Jacket
December 28, 2010
I bought this jacket for my wife because she was in need of a new down jacket. Fortunately for me, she had seen it before and had tried it on. She's about 5' 7" and 130lb, and the medium fits her pretty well. I will say that it is on the smaller side of medium compared to others, which is likely by design because it is a more fitted, stylish jacket. It is incredibly soft, the fuzzy cuffs and collar are great, and it comes with an included stuff sack. I got her the deep turquoise, and it's my wife's new favorite jacket. It's not too puffy, but rather it is pretty flattering for a down jacket. As for warmth, it's sufficient for casual wear, but if you're looking for serious cold protection, at 650-fill, this might not be your best choice. Overall, if you are looking for something that you can wear around town, look good in, and stay warm, get this jacket. I definitely recommend it, and so does my wife.
I love this jacket
March 31, 2011
It is soft and warm, just the right size, does not run too big or small. Really love the pit zips, nice feature. I only wore it once, don't know how it will hold up, but looks durable. No hood, so only rated a 4. I am 5', and weight 115, and The small is a perfect fit. It hits about an inch below the waist. On me, but I am short waisted. Just to give you and idea. I got the white, and has red logo, it is really beautiful. And the price is amazing.

It's my first time I bought a Mountain Hardwear jacket, and I like the cut, it fits well, feels comfortable, it is true to the size. Great jacket, I will see how warm it keeps me this coming winter.
Stylish lightweight but warm jacket
September 08, 2009
Just bought this for GF .. she likes it very much. The XS fit just perfect for her 5' 3" frame. I bought it with trust in the brand and hope this jacket will keep her warm in the coming winter
Very nice jacket
April 05, 2009
Got this for my wife and she's very pleased.
August 06, 2009
The jacket is not so puffy but it's light and warm. Great jacket
November 06, 2009
Comfortable and light. Came on time. Very warm.
February 18, 2012
Great Mountain Hardwear product. I am very happy with this product. This jacket is lovely color and nice price. But, I felt cold when I wear this jacket during this season. A nice style fit without being bulky.Pros: Great design, Great value
November 16, 2011
Bought this as a gift for my wife unsure if I would like it when I got it...love it! I think she will as well. I liked the tapered fit and I know she will as well! Can't go wrong with MH.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great value
April 08, 2009
Medium fit me well, especially with being tall and having long arms, it fits well and looks great! Haven't worn it much given that it is now spring, but it's light yet seems very warm.
December 01, 2010
I bought this for my wife, and it's the only jacket she has that keeps her warm enough on those frigid winter days. Fits true to size.
December 01, 2009
I bought this jacket for my fiancee, as she wanted something she didn't have to wear a lot of layers with, and she LOVES it. The jacket is lightweight but provides great warmth, and the fit is very good as well. Highly recommend.
Love this jacket!!!
March 19, 2011
I bought this jacket in the hopes of bringing it to our Alaska Cruise later this year. It is very warm and the fit is great - not too bulky. I ordered the medium and I am 5'10" and 145lbs and it fits perfectly. I was afraid it might be too small after reading some of the reviews, but it's not. It even has zippers under the arms if you get too warm, and it is very light and easily packed in the small travel bag that comes with it. I would definitely recommend this jacket to a friend.
This is a great jacket, good quality.

This is a great jacket, good quality.
I Love this Jacket!
March 23, 2011
I love this jacket so much I just purchased my second one in another color. This past winter has been especially windy and cold and this jacket got me through it. Bundling up day after day with layers of heavy sweaters, coats, and scarves (to the point that the weight and bulkyness makes it hard to move) gets tiresome. This jacket is so light, warm, and comfortable I almost forgot it was winter. The soft collar and wrist cuffs are the "cherry on top". I am cold by nature and sometimes did not go out simply because I couldn't face that cold...not now, this jacket keeps me warm and has not disappointed me once. I am 5'5", 120 lbs and the medium fits me perfectly. The great design seems to allow me to wear anything I want underneath it.
Great Jacket just not long enough
October 06, 2011
This is an excellent quality jacket, however the style fit is short at the waist. I did not keep the jacket so I do not really know the durability etc. The jacket fit just above the hip bone, but with the current style trend being longer this jacket was to short and my shirts under all hung below the jacket. I'm 5'4" and 110lbs with and average torso length. The x-small sleeve size was perfect.Pros: Performance, Cons: Bad design
VERY WARM FOR IT'S WEIGHT!!!
December 07, 2007
VERY WARM FOR IT'S WEIGHT...SUPER STYLISH...SLIM DESIGN...FIGURE FLATTERING.
June 12, 2009
I absolutely love this jacket. It is super light and super warm. I have a very light shell that I through over it for any wet conditions and I am super toasty! This is an WONDERFUL Jacket! at a great price.
Awesome jacket (esp for petite), except pitzips
January 25, 2011
This is a great jacket, especially for petite women. I am 5'2", 105 lbs and the XS fits perfectly. Really snug and hits right at the waist. Arm length is perfect. Doesn't make me look bulky at all. My favorite part is the fabric by your neck/chin. It feels like mink, it is sooo soft. This fabric is also on the wrists that grips tightly to hold the heat in. I wore this jacket under a waterproof, windproof shell when I was skiing at Copper Mountain in 20 degrees and snowing and I was completely warm. (and I'm usually cold). The only downside was the pitzips. They are extra long and begin at your ribs and go all the way past your armpit to your tricep. I like the idea of them, but because the jacket is snug on me, I can feel the zipper in my armpit. It bothers me a little bit, but not enough not to wear it. Other than that, it's my new favorite jacket!
Cute, comfy, but a little strange.
June 18, 2011
I really like this jacket, but at the same time, aspects of the design kind of confuse me. I don't understand why Mountain Hardware would have thought to make a jacket with pretty dang large arm pit zips, but provide no mesh or coverage once unzipped. I read the reviews so I was prepared for the lack of mesh, but I didn't realize that the vents were going to be so big... which makes it even more strange that there is no inner cover to the vents. These vents are literally 10 inches long (size Medium). Another thing that's strange is the length. It's not a bad length, just short. And it's just strange to me how short it is. I think the length actually makes it cuter, but I was also going for functional, and since there are no drawcords (even though it specifically says in the description that it has "Dual hem drawcords") the short length is more prevalent as you can't cinch it in to counteract the extra cold you'll get from not having at least the extra length. I got the Medium, I'm 5'7", 130-135, and it fits great. I haven't worn this out in the cold yet so I can't speak on warmth, but it easily fits a fleece underneath so it should work out alright.
Best Coat Ive ever bought
October 05, 2011
I absolutely LOVE this coat. I love the fit, very roomy and comfortable but snug in the right places to keep out the cold. It was priced right and is very nice looking, can be worn on the trails or around town. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a warm coatPros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
I love this jacket
January 14, 2009
The only thing missing is a YKK zipper.
great coat - but tight armpits!
February 13, 2009
I really like this coat - it seems warm, and it's stylish. But the sizes run small. I usually wear a size small or medium, but the medium in this coat has uncomfortably tight armpits! It's also very short.
Lightweight but keeps me very warm
December 08, 2009
I love this jacket because it doesn't make me look like the Michelin man. It's very light (in terms of weight), which is great because who really wants to be weighed down by a heavy down jacket? It would have been nice to have the jacket offered in black, but titanium is a good choice as well. I bought an extra small (I'm 5', 110 lb) but the arms are a bit snug for me. The wrists cuffs are absolutely fabulous and really, really helps in the overall "keep me warm" requirement.
Great Warm Jacket
November 10, 2010
I purchased this jacket because I am going to school up north in New Hampshire, where the weather regularly is below freezing in the winters. So far, I have been able to only wear this jacket with a thin layer underneath and still be warm! It's great at insulating in really cold temperatures. The fit is great too. I'm about 5'6" and 130 pounds and a size small fits perfectly. However, if you want to wear a lot of layers underneath, I would recommend ordering up a size.
Keeps me warm
April 29, 2010
I haven't put this to the most extreme test yet, but so far I'm loving this jacket. The cut is very feminine and not to puffy, pockets, neck, and cuffs are lined with soft fuzzy material. The arm pit zips are great vent. I love it.
Great Jacket for Chilly Weather
December 30, 2009
I bought this jacket just in time for the deep chill here in the Northeast. It is very light weight and very warm. I only need a thin layer underneath and I still stay warm even when the temps reach 0 degrees. I love the chin guard and the pit zips which are not common on down jackets. I agree with other reviewers that the torso is a little trim but I would not order up a size.
May 06, 2009
I just received my MH jacket and I love it!! It is not a real puffy down- it is more compact to my body but still feels like it will keep me warm and toasty in the north east winters. Sizing was right on- nice length on the overall jacket and the sleeves end in a wrist hugging cuff. great jacket all around!
January 16, 2008
My husband and I bought this jacket as a Christmas gift for our sister-in-law and she LOVES it! We both have North Face jackets and she admired those and we took a chance and got her this one and she wears it all the time and loves it.
December 27, 2009
this jacket was perfect as a mid-weight layering piece for skiing. titanium color got lots of compliments!
Great jacket, great price
May 26, 2009
Great Down coat, not too puffy, nice stuff sack, love the pit zips and soft inner collar!
March 05, 2008
I spent forever seaching for a nice, warm, durable down jacket for camping, hiking, and climbing. I stumbled upon this one and am SO glad that I did. This jacket is warm enough for blustery days climbing, compacts into a nice little stuff sack (included), and the fleece-lined pockets keep my hands warm. I definately recommend this jacket!
light & wonderful
April 05, 2009
Fits well, such a light and pretty jacket, i loooooooooooove mine. the sleeves fit, the collar is perfect AND I like the colour!
Super Comfy, Super Warm
December 18, 2008
This coat fit the bill.I am 5'2" and 125 pounds. The small fit great.
March 01, 2012
Toasty warm jacket for cold Michigan winters. The sleeves are even long enough for my freakishly long arms - which is hard to find in a regular sized jacket. The small fits great for me at 5'7" 125 lbs. The soft furry fleece on the collar and cuffs is wonderful to keep out the wind.Pros: Great design, Build quality
I love this coat!
September 21, 2011
I will say, this will definitely keep me warm in the cold winter months! I have recommended this coat to many, many people, and have told them specifically to get it at altrec.com...great prices, great website, awesome support staff...all around 5 stars!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
Mountain Hardwear Delivers Again
March 31, 2010
We got this jacket for my wife during the sale for $65 and were very satisfied with the final product. It has a lot of performance features for a down jacket, most note worthy of being the pit zips. It fit neatly into both of her soft shells and has pockets galore. The only downside would be that the outer material is too thin to prevent the filling from ever coming through.
March 27, 2011
I needed a jacket for late fall/early spring (not bitter cold of winter), an alternative to my heavier down coat. This jacket is perfect, super lightweight, warm without being sweltering and not bulky. At 5' 6" and 150 lbs., large is perfect fit. The fleece cuffs eliminate any draft, great feature. Deep turquoise is a splash of color in the dulldrums of winter!!
Two thumbs up
April 06, 2009
I love this jacket. I normally wear a medium and the med fits me perfect. No complaints. Keeps me warm and isn't bulky. The stuff sack is great for traveling.
January 07, 2011
I love the warm fleece wrists and the jacket is fitted which is hard to find in a down jacket. Great color as well (I got the pink). If you need a smaller down jacket this is the way to go.
wonderfully light and warm
May 05, 2009
This is the perfect back packing jacket. it is Feather light, and quite warm. It is thin, not too puffy. The outer shell is durable, and it is an attractive fit.
The best for petites, just the collar
September 09, 2008
I got an XS and it fits perfectly. Sleeved and length is just right. It's very warm and I can't wait for winter to come so I can wear in the coldest time of the year here in Oregon. It's not bulky like I thought. The only downside is the collar. It looks big, and it's not easy to lay it flat, but overall, it's what I want from a down.
February 21, 2008
I purchased this jacket for my 18 yr. old daughter and she loves it.I liked it so much that I bought 2 more jackets- one for myself and another for my 20 yr old daughter that is away at college. It is warm but not too bulky.
COMFY COAT WITH STYLE AND WARMTH
October 11, 2009
If you're looking for a coat for this winter, this is it! If you're looking for a coat with style, this is it! Mountain hardwear has definitely proved to me that their stuff is worth buying. The down/goose feather filling is so comfortable and the coat looks great. I am 5'5 and 130 pounds and the medium fits perfect! I love it very much!
Would buy this coat again!
December 18, 2009
Ice Fall is a beautiful color. Medium fits well at 5'8" 135 w/long arms it is perfect. Live in Steamboat Spring, coat is great for snow shoeing, skiing and walking to dog. LOVE IT!
This is one awesome jacket!
March 20, 2009
I love this jacket! It's super lightweight, yet very warm and comfortable. I usually wear a medium (5'5", 124 lbs.)-that's what I ordered and it fits perfect-very flattering. I also have very long arms and the sleeves are just right. The stuff sack and pit zips are a great bonus - can't wait to take it on backpacking trips!
Not what I thought
January 26, 2010
I searched and searched online for the right jacket and though I had finally found it. However, when the jacket arrived it was not as pictured online. The collar and cuffs turned out to be white and not black like pictured. Unfortunately, white with the color iceberry, made the jacket look too much like the top half of a santa suit. The sleeve length was great, but the overall length was shorter than I wanted (I'm 5'10 with long arms and legs). I was really excited about this order and really wanted to like this jacket, but I ended up sending it back.
June 23, 2011
I purchased this jacket in an xs. I am usually a size 2 5"2- 119 lbs. It has a flattering and stylish fit. Not too bulky. It runs true to size so if you don't want a snug fit go up a size. I could not wear a bulky sweater under the jacket. I would reccomend this jacket
Great Jacket for the Price!
July 13, 2009
For the price, this 650 fill jacket is a steal! Kept me very warm at night down to 30 degrees. I'm 5'2" and the x-small fit me perfectly. The included stuff sack was a nice touch and I use it as a pillow when I sleep.
June 25, 2008
Great jacket. It is very light but seems like it will be warm. The sizing seems fairly good except for at the hips. It is very snug for me there and my hips aren't even that big. Over all a great jacket.
Nice Warm, Cozy Jacket!
January 17, 2011
I really like this jacket a lot! I got it just in time for a snowstorm here, and it kept me really warm while out walking my dog in the snow. I only wore a long sleeve shirt underneath the jacket, and was warm the whole time ( appx. 25 degrees F.) I am 5'2", 122 pounds, and a size small fits well. I can 2 layers comfortably under the jacket, but not a really thick sweater. I also really like the collar and cuffs. They are fuzzy and cozy, which add an extra touch of warmth.
February 04, 2008
I purchased this jacket for my daughter. She just moved back home after graduating from college in Florida and really didn't have anything that you could consider warm. Mountain Hardware makes great products and this jacket is as good a light weight down jacket as you will find. It is very effective wearing it in the low 20's. My daughter loves it !
Great jacket, too small
February 10, 2011
The jacket is terrific-- warm but super light. Unfortunately it runs very small-- the xmall felt like a children's size. Am exchanging for a bigger size.
Super Warm and Soft! 5 Stars.
November 07, 2009
This is my second Lodown Jacket, I loved my first one so much I bought it in a different color. Super warm and comfy. Plus you can't beat the price at Altrec.com!
February 09, 2011
Got this as a gift for someone. The first thing you will notice is the lightness of the jacket. It is so soft and warm. The jacket is rated at 650 down fill and you don't feel hot even with So Cal weather. Highly recommended.
Just what I needed
February 17, 2008
Many reviews on different websites said this jacket runs small. I ordered a medium, when I'm normally either a medium or a large, depending. The medium was perfectly fit, and the sleeves were just right for my very long arms. It's not bulky at all, and it packs down pretty small. It takes up less room packed than I expected. It's incredibly warm, but not so warm I easily overheat. I'd recommend this to anyone needing a lightweight, stylish, and wonderfully warm jacket.
Solid down jacket
December 26, 2012
bought this jacket for my wife for Xmas. She says its super comfy, good quality and true to size. great outter layer for backcountry skiing. Looks great and wears well too.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great value
November 22, 2010
Quality Jacket, Well made, Quality Materials, Overall design good, but tight fit for size, returning for larger size.
Best friend on summit!
May 26, 2009
Ok let it be said, that I am a Gear Junkie and have a closet full of Mountain Hardwear, Arcteryx shells & jackets which are the best technical brands available. This is my 2nd LoDown Jacket (the first is pretty beaten up). I also have the Mountain Hardwear Phantom Jacket which is filled with 800 fill down and is light and stuffable. I really like both the Lodown and the Phantom for warmth and comfort. The Lodown can also be used as a good mid layer for a light shell on cold snowy days on the mountain, although a little puffy. Buy it if you want good quality & value and to stay warm.
December 10, 2010
I purchased this jacket for my wife. The fit is true to size. Warm coat but not too bulky. This coat seems to be of superior quality to the NF down coats we have.
Great jacket for a chilly fall day
October 12, 2009
I just got this jacket in phantom blue - a whitish color, yet more practical than regular white (doesn't get the "dirty look" at the collar as soon). I actually thought I'd bought the regular white, but was very pleased with the color I received. The jacket is very light weight, and has a nice feminine look. It's not a jacket for those very cold days - rather a jacket for the chilled fall days. I think I'll use it as an everyday jacket - not so much for skiing. I got the X-small and the size is spot on. I normally wear X-S or 36 (european size). The pockets are extremely soft, and they're perfect for keeping my hands warm! There are two external pockets, and one internal. No hood on this jacket. I used it while it rained the other day and it is water repellent for a while - but eventually the water soaked into the fabric (it was pouring down...so I wouldn't have expected anything else). A good jacket at a great price!
November 25, 2007
Runs smaller than other womens Mt Hardware fleece. It has a great feel and very warm.
