Description

Super lightweight and packable, the Mountain Hardwear Women's Nitrous Hooded Jacket is top-notch when it comes to a high warmth-to-weight ratio. Made with down proof, Sensor® Ripstop shell fabric, this winter coat is stuffed with premium 800-fill goose down to trap the heat. Quilted construction and small tight channels hold the down in place for precise insulation and also add a feminine flourish. Designed with a slim silhouette, this hooded down jacket is a versatile piece that will work as an outer layer on a summer bivy in the Sierras or as a mid layer under a shell when you're backcountry skiing in the Tahoe wilderness. The hood does not adjust but is contoured for a snug fit to maximize thermal efficiency. Two front pockets offer refuge for cold hands while a drawcord at the hem and elastic cuffs help seal in warmth. Tightly woven fabric helps block the wind and a DWR finish repels a few snowflakes or a light drizzle. Not just for adventures at home, the Mountain Hardwear Nitrous Hooded Jacket for women packs into a tiny parcel making it perfect for hiking trips in Chile and Nordic ski trips in the Alps.

Women's Nitrous Hooded Jacket 4.5 5 17 17
Dont hesitate! This jacket is the lightest and warmest jacket I have ever owned. The 800 fill down keeps me toasty which is very appreciated since i have very little resistance to the cold. great for ice climbing or keeping off the chill in crisp mornings. I highly, highly reccommend this jacket! February 1, 2012
Good deal! Great product as always with Mountain Hardwear. I'm 5'3", 124lbs,and the Small size was actually OK.It would have been fine if I planned on wearing several layer under it. Hood doesn't adjust which is a drawback. Very light weight for the warmth it provides. July 3, 2011
Very good jacket! This is a great jacket! It is really light yet extremely warm. Great as a base layer for those incredibly cold days! It's super warm and light-weight. I highly recommend this jacket. June 15, 2011
Great Purchase This is what I would consider a "light down" jacket. It is great for layering while still providing significant warmth! It is perfect for when the seasons are changing or layering under a waterproof shell. It is also extremely compact and comfortable. April 25, 2011
Unbelievable jacket Overall: very light and warm for its size. Also very soft and comfortable to wear. By looking at the pouch it comes with, it seems impossible at first that it will ever fit in there, but it stuffs in smoothly and effortlessly. Insulation: I wore this with just a t-shirt underneath on a chilli, windy evening (around 45F), then with some layers just below freezing while taking a short hike in the mountains, and it performed incredibly well both times. It never felt like it was approaching its limits. Design: although it's a short jacket, it hugs my waist and hip pretty well and the one-handed adjustable cord at the bottom makes sure no wind creeps up from underneath. The two exterior pockets keep your hands warm and their zippers look sturdy and never jammed. The one interior pocket is at belly height and does not have a zipper, but an elastic mouth. The only thing I'm missing a bit is an interior chest pocket, but that's not a big deal. The hood is not adjustable, but protected my face very well nonetheless. April 22, 2011
nice lightweight jacket I saw this jacket on the "gear of the day" and knew I would have to get it. I've been looking for a lightweight down jacket for using around town, and/or on hikes/backpacking trips and think I found it! The jacket comes with a hood which is great and will add warmth on the colder nights either in town or in the mountains. It fits great, very comfy, so far has enough warmth but I haven't "field" tested it yet in the hills..... April 21, 2011
Looks great, check sizing I am very excited to receive this jacket as a lightweight and compact alternative to heavier fleeces. It's sized a little large, although I guess it depends on how much you want to be able to layer underneath it. I already have a big puffy down jacket, and so was looking for a more sweater-like fit. I'm 5'6", 130lbs, and generally a fairly reliable Medium for Mountain Hardwear -- but for this one, I'm going to try a Small. Otherwise, the cut and styling are fantastic -- I'm looking forward to trying it out in colder weather! April 21, 2011
great jacket....... This is that easy to pack, great to wear, all purpose light insulation. Take it anywwhere and where it as an outer jacket or under a shell. You will love it! April 19, 2011
Great jacket, fits small Super lightweight, very fashionable. The one and only complaint is that it fits small. I am an XS across the board, but the armpits are too small on me. If I went to a Small, the rest of the jacket would be too big. I decided to keep it anyway because it's a great looking jacket. April 12, 2011
not what I expected This jacket was a serious disapointment. It was a very flimsy fabric. It is not a warm winter jacket. I wear a medium in most brands 5'6 135 pds and it was really large around the middle. April 8, 2011
Just Right For Backpacking This jacket is lightweight and warm. Great for layering. This is going to be great for our backpacking trips this year. It will even look good around town. April 7, 2011
Best winter jacket ever! I just love this jacket! Being waiting for it to arrive ever since I made the initial purchase. It looks even better than the photo. So light weight and so SOFT. I can't believe how soft it is. It comes with this cute little pouch. I bought this jacket to wear when I travel overseas from Australia. Australian winters are very mild and I need a good quality, light weight jacket that is warm and this fits the bill. I made the mistake of taking a wool/cashmere coat to NYC and Chicago on holidays and spent the whole time carrying the heavy coat with me. Never again! I am looking forward to wearing this to China in 2.5 degree celcius weather conditions. I am looking forward to making more purchases on this site. I already have a friend who will definitely be buying this jacket as well. March 31, 2011
I bought this for my wife and she wont take it off.She is always cold but is always toasty in this coat.It is a great looking coat.very nice and stylish. It should keep her cozy backpacking in the high mountians this year March 27, 2011
nitrous hooded jkt mtn hardwear A very warm and lightweight down jacket. NOT waterproof. I am happy with the jacket---it is thin, compact, warm, and compressible. it is slim (or not puffy.) it weighs 11oz. March 26, 2011
This seems to be a great jacket. It is very very soft and comfortable but I never wore it outside before returning it simply because I didn't like the way it fit. I am 5'2'' and size XS. The jacket was slim fitting but puckered out in odd places when zipped up. The stitching on the jacket is styled in wavey lines which, when worn add to the wobbly, puckered look of the jacket. Even with these factors, the choice to return the jacket was a difficult one because it was so comfortable, so lightweight, so tightly-packable and so warm. Perhaps it could work for someone else. November 26, 2010
Love this jacket This jacket is really lightweight but warm. I'm 5ft 2in and a XS fits me perfectly but leave enough room for all active movements. It looks great as is not bulky like other down jackets. It is also a great fit under my shell. It is so lightweight and compact that I will bring it along to all hiking/backpacking/camping trips. April 6, 2010
Great jacket that is worth the money. Really nice jacket. Not bulky and very light weight. Super warm too. The fact that it is made (partially) from recycled materials is cool too. My only concern is that the quilted construction may allow some of the threads pop loose in the future. Having said that, I think it is worth the money. December 28, 2009
