Excellent for climbing, skiing, backpacking, traveling and snowboarding in windswept and exposed landscapes, the Transition Featherweight Zip T is just as light and breathable as other lightweight base layers, but the WINDSTOPPER® N2S Featherweight shell fabric has a windproof WINDSTOPPER® laminate to effectively neutralize cold air penetration. The articulated cut combined with the snug and stretchy Push Pull knit fabric along the cuffs, sides and hem help seal in body heat without the bunching and binding sometimes found in middle layers designed with a relaxed cut.
great shirt
great shirt for running , keeps wind out
Great lightweight layer - really keeps the wind out
My husband and I are big Mountain Hardwear fans and I purchased the Featherweight Zip-T based on his recommendation. So far, I've only worn it skiing, but I love it. I used it to replace a much bulkier layer - and I stayed warm, dry and gained more freedom of movement. I think it will get alot of use for many activities.
LIghtweught and versatile.
The shirt has a great fit that allows for movement without sacrificing shape. In other words, you can be as active as you want and the shirt stays right in place and does its job without encumbering the wearer. I have worn the shirt running and skiing and was very happy with it. It keeps the wind out without adding too much extra warmth and bulk which makes it layerable and versatile.

I love windstopper shirts!!!
This shirt is excellent and a must have for the outdoor person's wardrobe. Light weight, super tailoring details and workmanship are found in this shirt. Wish i had one in every color. I got the tights also.
Mt.Hardwear Featherweight top
The shirt is fantasitc. If it is ultra light weight for fast pursuits this is the way to go. And a top pick for Adventure Racing. Combats wind, and light precipitation with some great wicking properties, and just the layer you need for cooler days or winter sports. I use the shirt for everything from ice/snow mountaineering, mt.biking, kayaking, snowshoeing, trail running, and xc skiing. It is the perfect all around piece of gear. It also drys real fast to prevent the chill factor.
A well made lightweight top.
A well made extremely lightweight top. The fit is snug.
does what it says
Plus: lightwieght and regulates tenp is a variety of weather. VERY techy look. Has a slimming design and is non bulky.
Negatives: Very scratchy. It is supposed to keep you from haveng lots of layers, but you need a skin protective layer. If you expect clothing to multitask for sports and everyday wear it is way to techy to wear with regular clothing. It snags like crazy also. The reason it has an "articulated cut" is that there is no stretch at all.
Great activewear top!
This top is great for cool weather running. Dries fast & help block wind. Recommend wearing thin tank/tee underneath because the seams are harsh.
too hot!
bought this for potential bicycling and backcountry skiing. i normally get cold easily at rest, but warm up quickly with exertion. i found the shirt too hot for the above activities, and it doesn't breathe well, especially with a pack on. i feel like i'm in a plastic bag. fabric is stiff next to skin, so i too wear an extra layer. is fine for windy, less aerobic conditions, like sea kayaking, day-hiking. would be better with a more breathable back fabric.
