Description

From powdery ascents to long tours on packed trails, the MSR Lightning™ Axis™ 30 Snowshoe delivers the comfort and performance to get you out and back on your winter adventure. A new Axis™ Gait Efficiency system that adjusts the binding laterally, independent of the frame, allows you to set a more natural footfall and increases the efficiency of your stride. Rugged but lightweight 360° Traction™ frames have aggressive tread that bites into snow and ice, and with Pivot crampons and Ergo™ Televator climbing bars you can ascend variable snow with ease. Freeze resistant SpeedLock™ bindings adjust easily even with mittens to conform to your footwear and provide a stable platform for your cold snowy outings. Low profile, light overall weight and the latest technology make the Lightning™ Axis™ the apex of snowshoe performance.

New Binding is over engineered
January 31, 2011

Do not buy this snowshoe with the new binding system, I tried it last week and again this last weekend, the D ring hook on the middle strap comes out, last week x 3, this week x 2.. the front toe binding... do not try to adjust it on the hill, get it adjusted in the warmth of your home. it is not Glove Friendly in any way. The adjustable toe for duck or pigeon feet, the pull tab broke off, it would not stay locked in place. I had to use pliers to pull the pin to set the angle.. good thing it was 30 degrees and no wind.. This whole binding system is way over engineered. it would be dangerous to have in the back country with low temperatures. They should pull it, recall every one of them.. go back to the 3 strap x 1 strap "bombproof" binding.. but i guess they have to pay the R & D guys something for doing something, but they missed on this one... run away from this binding, run away fast J

Cons: Bad design, Low performance, dangerous
