Ideal for the tent and trail, the lightweight Tikka Plus features three brightness settings and a new recessed power button that won't accidentally turn on inside your backpack. Weighing less than 80 grams, this amazingly comfortable headlamp is as easy to wear as a fleece headband. Simply click the ratchet-style lamp design at the angle you need and do away with the dark. The compact design fits in almost any spare pouch or pack side pocket.
Money well spent!
I bought this primarily for a recent family camping trip and was truly impressed at the illumination it provided. The 3 settings made it convenient to adjust lighting to suit different needs. Highly recommended!
Great headlight
Can't ask for a more useful headlamp... for ANY use. My most recent use was around the house when my power was out for a couple of days.
All Purpose!
This is a great head lamp. It can be used around the house, on construction sites and of course, camping. Great all around lamp with plenty of range in dark areas. Highly recommended!

Great headlamp
I love camping and backpacking and for the first time got a head lamp for a backpacking trip. Let me tell you, it was a very good decision. This light is very bright, lasts a very long time, and keeps your hands free.
Best I've used
Granted, it's the only headlamp I've ever used, but I'm really impressed. It's bright and comfortable. I haven't used it enough to comment on battery life. The battery door took a little wiggling to close, but not a big deal.
Every home should have one!
My husband uses his all the time for jobs around the house where he needs both hands to work with. It's also the first item I grab when we have power outage (better than a flashlight). For Christmas I gave each of my grandchildren one and they have to fight off their parents to use it.
Nice head lamp
Use the headlamps for working in crawl spaces and dark warehouses. Works great for checking stations and inspecting crawlspaces. Really like the different brightness settings and ratchet-style tilt option it is great for looking at different angles. All around a great headlamp with nice brightness settings.
five stars
These are the greatest things since the invention of the wheel.
I have used my Pikka Plus Headlamp during black outs, fixing things when I need a flashlight enabling both of my hands to be free, manicuring my nails for reading in bed at night for walking outside at night, etc..
I have recently ordered one for everyone in my family
Great lamp...
...reliable and manages power consumption effectively. Variety of brightness and intensity is easy to use with gloves as well.
Keeps on truckin'!
I'm a Outdoor Adventure major in college, and I bought this headlamp in the fall of 06. It went on 5 weekend backpacking trips, 4 weekend climbing trips, countless night rides and night skiing, and climbed Mt. Adams in the spring, and Its still not out of battery juice.
Durable, light, cheap, reliable. strongly recommended.
Perfect
Great Lamp- Very bright, Good Battery life. It has 3 settings so you can adjust the beam. Would recommend.
great light!
Perfect for camping, and taking the dogs at night to do their business. The batteries last a really long time and it feel pretty light on the head you can hardly tell it is there.
Wished I had this years ago!
I coworker just shared this product with me and WOW, no more excused for missing the early morning runs in the winter due to darkness. I have even shared this with early morning walkers in my neighborhood.
Bright and very lightweight headlamp
Very lightweight head lamp, the four settings are very good - even the economical mode is bright. Can vary the angle of the lamp and the head band adjusts easily but grips well.
completely marvelous!!
I was greatly impressed with my headlamp! I had just bought one of the pieces of junk that you get from Wal-mart! and as soon as my boyfriend talked me into getting the Tikka, you say that I have "seen the light"!
Highly functional, a million perfect places to use.
I use this thing anyplace I would use a flashlight. Having a headlamp frees up both your hands and automatically directs light where you need it...where you are looking. The Petzl Tikka is lightweight and lasts an expected length of time, depending on how bright you set the light. Uses 3 AAA batteries. I wore mine walking around Bonaroo and was able to find my friends in a group of about 65,000 people using the beacon light.
Superior headlamp !
This light is great ! It is very compact, very comfortable, puts out great light and lasts a long time. The design is very smart - my previous lamp also had a one button interface but you would always have to cycle through all modes. This one is much smarter. If you turn to a mode and wait a little, the next press will turn it off. If you don't wait and keep pressing, it will cycle through the modes. That's very smart ! 1 push to turn off always. The flashing mode is also great in case you want to hop on the bike.
Great light
Just used my Tikka Plus this past weekend and I love it. I have a couple of other lights for tracking or night hiking and they are heavier. I needed something for use around camp and this light fit the bill perfectly.
Tikka + Rocks
Throw great light. Very easy to use and light weigh. I use it for mandatory gear for Adventure Racing. Our enire team has the same model. Overall it is awesome!!
Great
I love all the options for the brightness and flash. The optional color lens.
Perfect!
I geocache and need more light when night caching. The ability to adjust the brightness is a big plus. The headband is comfortable and the light itself is hardly noticed on the forehead.
Petzl Tikka Plus Headlamp is the best headlamp I've ever owned
Being the owner of 3 dogs, I often go out after dark. Managing leashes and a flashlight was quite difficult so I decided to try a headlamp. I couldn't believe how much brighter the Tikka Plus Headlamp is, as well how much easier it is to manage the dogs while still getting plenty of light. My husband and I now both own one. We use them when we ride our bicycles in the evening, when we're out camping, as well as for taking the dogs for a walk after dark. The headlamp is easy to use and is twice as bright as even my best flashlight.
Lightweight and Practical
We own and use at least three different headlamps and this is the one that gets the most use. Weather its camping, hiking, kayaking, or fishing this is the headlamp that makes it in the pack. The only drawback the Tika or any LED headlamp has is it doesn’t project light much more than 25 feet.
Love it!
I use this headlamp to read at night while putting the kids to bed and it's great. Keeps the light focused in one spot (very bite - even at the lowest setting) so I can read and the kids can sleep. The headband is also very comfortable - maybe too much so - since I've fallen asleep myself more than once while wearing it.
Awesome Headlamp.
This is a great headlamp! Easy to turn on, the light is adjustable and very bright. It even has a feature that changes the light to a strobe! I got it for my boyfriend for Christmas and it was a hit. I wish I would've gotten one for myself.
Works Great
Works GREAT for around camp! It's probably not soemthing you would want to night treck by, but it's perfect for normal daytime hiking, night time cooking travel.
never use a regular flashlight
Great for military operations. Can be easily secured to kevlar helmets to provide extra lighting in any tactical environment
Nice Fit
I have other headlamps i use but found
them to be uncomfortable while wearing
them.
I purchased the Tikka plus to try and
lighten my backpacks load, and provide
comfort and enough light.
It's perfect.
Best Proximity HL Available
I finally upgraded my Tikka to a Tikka Plus - and have found that it was worth the upgrade. The Tikka Plus is simply the best proximity headlamp for night around camp, cooking, bedtime reading, nighttime necessity trips, etc. - any activity that requires a little - or a lot! - of light for close proximity activities. For me - a headlamp junkie - the Tikka Plus is the best proximity headlamp on the market; comfortable, lightweight, four different settings with a switch that is simple and easy to use, minimalist yet finely engineered and crafted and a delight to use. One word of advice - invest in lithium batteries for ALL headlamps; they work even in -30 degree weather and talk about batteries that keep going and going!
Great light, extremely lightweight
This is an exceptional light, offering a nice safety feature, the blinking mode and is super light for those long night wades.
Indispensible!
I've owned the Tikka Plus for a year now, & if you like getting excited about a great piece of gear, this one will do it for you! It was my first headlamp purchase & will be my last. Can't find any way to improve on its design. It answers my lighting need at every point--right before my eyes. Perfect for setting up camp/cooking/doing dishes after dark, hunting around the tent in the middle of the night, repairing the rudder cable inside my dark kayak cockpit, and searching out the dark corners of tangled cables in my computer cabinet. Hands-free lighting was never better. Even got by nicely without any main lantern or flashlites @ camp last summer. And my 4-yr old grandson was surely fascinated and had fun using this terrific tool, too!
Unbeatable light vs weight
Of all the headlamps I have owned, this one is the best. I have dropped it, stepped on it, lost it for a couple weeks, and still it goes strong. The battery life is quite good, as the batteries fade, the light fades, and you can definitely see the difference between a fresh set and a set that needs changing. BUT its nice to know that you will still get useable light for quite some time. It's also a very comfortable to wear headlamp unlike some I have worn in the past. None of them have been horrible, but you KNOW they are on your head. With this one, you almost forget you're wearing it half the time. Highly recommended.
Awesome Light
Get head light for walking & running in winter. Plenty of light and comfortable to wear. Highly recommend.
the best headlamp i've owned
Use the product on a daily basis. Love the three brightness settings and flash mode. Very comfortable, and light. Enjoy the tilt feature on the light.
Excellent Product ---Great Value
Really like the light. Great product and good value.
Superb Headlight
This is an excellent headlight. Very handy! Bought one for myself for running. Also use it for handyman jobs around the house. Bought another for a gift. Quick shipping with Altrec.
very illuminating
Very good lamp. Where I run, there are areas that are not lit by streetlamps - I actually run past a cemetery - boooooo! This lamp illuminates where I run and is bright enough so I can see obstacles, potholes, etc. That may be in my way.
Great little light
I got the Tikka Plus to replace my old Tikka that I sold on the Long Trail. The Tikka Plus with it's push button on switch is so much better than the slide switch of the old Tikka. The adjustability is great too, no more blinding the person your talking to. Their great for around the house to the woods!
If you buy only one headlamp - this is it...
Lightweight. Comfortable. Weather resistant. Adjustable. I use mine for climbing, hiking and working around the house too. The lamp seems to work forever on one set of batteries. Of all the gear I have, this piece is SOLID. Never had a problem in 4 years. Have given them as gifts and they're a big hit. The only reason I bought another is mine was stolen on a recent trip to Costa Rica. Buy this lamp - you won't be sorry. Unless you need high power, long distance illumination, this lamp has you covered.
wonderful
This headlamp is light, comfortable, and gives off great light. I use it for walks at night, since we don't have street lights. I also find it useful for close-up work on things around the house. I had a cheaper light before, this is superior.
good product.
Attaches to my bike easily, puts out good light, versatile and good battery life. Exactly what I needed.
nothing beats a petzl..
Great piece of equipment to be added to any soldiers basic combat load. I used a Tikka for ten months in Iraq. I made the mistake to loose the lamp cover but ten months later the lamp still worked and the baulbs were still in perfect working order. Thanks.
Not just for the dogs
I have two 90 pound dogs that love their late night walks down to the beach when I get home from a long days work. Unfortunately, I had to wrestle with a flashlight and two leashes which always seemed to be going in different directions as the same time. With the Tikka Plus I can finally enjoy myself. I like the lightweight streamlined single headband design, especially when running into the neighbors, it looks much less geeky then the three band models and the LED's are super cool looking. Most importantly it packs an illuminating light that turns an otherwise pitch black treacherous terrain into a well lit trail. This is a well built light with terrific attention to detail like a smart on/off switch. This switch clicks through the intensity levels of the beam of light; however, if you click it on and wait a couple of seconds then it knows to turn off on the next click. This way you don't have to go through the 4 levels again to turn it off. It may not seem like a big deal, but when you use something a lot the little things always seem to make the difference. At the end of the day, it is a great, well thought out light and I highly recommend it. In fact, I now keep it handy for my own walks on the beach because this one is not just for the dogs.
Does what I ask...
I don't know how I got by without a headlamp in the past! It's very comfortable. The Tikka Plus is well-made and I anticipate a long future with this product.
Good light
My girlfriend used this light on our mountain climbing trip in Bolivia and it worked great. It was bright enough for the occasion and stayed secure for the duration. The temp was below freezing and it was snowing but the light held its own.
Great for tent and camp stuff in the dark
If you're comparing the Tikka Plus to the standard Tikka, this one has an extra LED is marginally brighter and great for stuff around the camp or tent. Compared to most non-LED headlamps, the weight savings is remarkable. I had no worries about the water resistant performance when we were stuck in a downpour in Olympic National Park this weekend. One small note--Petzl's range claim of 10 meters (30 feet) might be pushing it for some folks, especially when your murky surroundings are damp. This was a great lamp for finding things within 3.3 meters (10 feet) in pitch darkness, but I would want a brighter light source for finding my way along a trail in the middle of the night. Still, considering the durability and long-life LEDs, this could be the last camp headlamp that I'll ever need for backpacking.
So far so good
After completing a 28 year career with the Federal Govt in Wildland Firefighting, I have had the opportunity to try many varieties of headlamps. I have found that Petzl makes the most versatile and brightest that I have used. Now for backpacking, I have purchased a Tikka Plus. It is hard to believe that something so small, can put out so much light. I have not put it through my past years' type of torture testing, but if past experience with the heavier duty Petzl headlamps is any indicator, then this one will be hard to beat.
Great work petzl!!
Good for outdoor activity like cycling, hiking, running, walking, cooking, reading, fixing flats on your bike, working with small components etc... for close up works its better than the candescent bulbs, and consumes so less power
small size, just slip in your pockets, waist bag, saddle bag or hang it around ur neck, fix it to the handlebar and never be in dark.
With a bunch of Tikka+ in flashing mode and Tikka Lens Filter Kit you could turn your home into a discotheque :)
down side:
The elastic band makes your head sweat in hot climes. (well thats the problem with all headlamps)
Why dont they make them with some airy, ventilated coolmax type material?
Perfect for hiking and general use as well
I already owned a Petzl Tikka when I bought the Tikka Plus. I loved the Tikka and found myself using it all the time when I needed a little extra light. My only complaint was that it was not always aimed exactly where I needed light. The Tikka Plus solves this problem perfectly with its ability to adjust the angle of the light beam. With its light weight, solid construction, and low power consumption, the I have found the Tikka Plus to be the perfect for both hiking and general use around the house.
Superior Headlight
This is simply a must for every serious hiker. Imagine arriving at the woods after a 6 hours drive, in the middle of darkness. Not wanting to spoil your night-vision, the tikka plus with the optional red-filter gives you all the light you need, without disturbing the environment. It is so light, you tend to forget that its there. Until you need some extra wood for the fire and all you need to do is to press the button and grab your knife!
Great Lite Light!
As usual i was pleased with Petzl's products. An incredible little light that has no rival.
Super Bright Light
I also own the original 3 LED Tikka which I already thought was a great light, but the improvements made for the Tikka Plus really put it over the top!
The Tikka Plus, with one additional LED, is actually MUCH brighter than the original Tikka.
It also has a head which rotates to a comfortable angle, unlike the original Tikka, which puts the light exactly where you need it. This just makes it alot easier to use than re adjusting the angle of the head band. It also has a new push button on/off switch which lets you choose between 3 power levels and a strobe mode. I need the brightest light possible so I just click it once and use it on high.
I once used a combination of propane and fluourescent lanterns to illuminate my workspace when I am rigging my boat or camping in total darkness. This little light, simply powered by 3 AAA batteries not only seems to put out as much light as either of these lanterns, but the batteries last forever!
It's also great for kayacking as it illuminates the cockpit and water in front of you.
I couldn't imagine working in the dark again without this light...it's that good.
Works great!!
I run at least twice week in the evening on my neighborhood streets. Needless to say, it is not safe to run in the dark, so when winter comes I cannot do it unless I go to the gym and run indoors on the treadmill (Yuk, how boring). Now w my new Tikka Plus headlamp I can see the street/road clearly and I am able to run on the street with relative safety. Very lite and confortable to use.
Great Headlamp!
The Tikka Plus is everything I hoped it would be. It is very lightweight, fits securely, and gives off good light. I especially like how you can easily and precisely adjust the angle of the light. I also like the multiple brightness settings.
Just Great
This lamp is great, battery can be used for months, the light is extremely white, the only problem is the battery compartment, is difficult to install new baterries, but is great
good stuff
The tikka plus is the best lightweight/low-powered headlamp that i have used. Very good stuff.
Bright, Light, & Outta Sight...'cause it's on your head?!?
It's a very handly light. I wear it when I go on the hiking trails with the dog pack. It's much brighter than the older models. The batteries last super long on this lamp. The two color options is great for couples...that way he won't take yours when his is outta juice : )
Nice headlamp with good features
I really like this headlamp. It's lightweight, and fairly comfortable to wear. I have a red lens cover for mine, because I use it for backpacking and for astronomy. The red lens cover allows me to read my star charts at night without ruining my night vision with glaring white lights. Even when I use it for backpacking I sometimes use the red lens cover because the light is much less harsh. Still, sometimes I do use the white light and really appreciate having 3 different brightness settings, as well as the blinking light function. One thing I had to get used to though - at first I kept opening the darn battery compartment whenever I tried to adjust the beam of light. I really like being able to have so many choices about where to point the light, down, straight ahead, up, somewhere in between, but it sure took some getting used to (unless you have really small hands). I can't even remember how many times I opened the thing up when trying to point the light lower or higher. I'd have to take it off to close the battery compartment again, put it back on, etc. But, after a few times of doing this I finally got the feel of it and haven't had the problem in a while. I use it in camp for reading at night, and even use it in bed at home sometimes when he wants to sleep and I want to read in bed. I know, I know, pretty weird, I admit!! The red light doesn't disturb him and provides me plenty of light. Really good product, glad I bought this one.
very good light weight head lamp
much improved over prior years models. a very good lamp at a good price
Great light
The light is brighter than I expected is very easyt to use. Although there is not much adjustment I have not had any problems or concerns. I would buy this light again if I never needed to replace it.
For 30 bucks much more than you can expect ..!
Great for outdoor sports, or camping, the lantern it is adjustable, so you do not have to incline your self..
Well built headlamp
This was the 4th headlamp I bought this month and this is the best. It is well built, light and bright and good-looking. One of the complaints is that the region around the switch becomes hot after a while when using the brightest mode. This means energy is wasted. None of the other much cheaper ones I bought had this problem. Another complaint is the brightness is not uniform. The centre of the bright patch tends to be bluish and brighter. This is not very good for long time reading.
On the whole, this is a very good headlamp but I am still looking for one which gives out uniform brightness.
Excellent product
I didn't really know a lot about an item like this when I purchased it. Bu t I am very pleased with its quality and price. I suppose if I was more hardcore I would go with a halogen, but I love the battery size and life. I also think the amount of light given off is AWESOME!
I don't have a lot to compare this product to, but I think I will enjoy it for a long time to come. Doesn't feel cheap!
Sort of wish they could combine the different models into one model so I could strap it to my head and my bike.
definite BONUS
great hands free tool! comes in handy when out on a hike in the dark and you gotta get the tent up, also helps when getting a meal together in the dark.
