Fit Tip
Fit Tip for the Women's Long Sleeve Canyon Shirt: This shirt runs slightly small. It fits loosely and hits at the top of the hip. If you are between sizes, size up since the sleeves on this shirt run slightly short.
Description of Mountain Hardwear: Women's Long Sleeve Canyon Shirt
Whether you're hiking over simmering plateau rocks or backpacking through the shadows of a meandering sandstone canyon, the Mountain Hardwear Canyon Shirt provides relief and protection from searing sunlight. The Desert Cloth contains a blend of nylon and polyester fibers treated with a SPF 30 sun protection finish. These compressed fibers minimize UV penetration but unlike some tightly woven garments, the Canyon Shirt has a wicking finish to expedite moisture transfer away from your skin without that annoying clammy feeling. The proven rubber button design stays together many soapy immersions beyond the wooden and plastic buttons often found on some travel/tropical shirts.
- Fast-drying and lightweight 3.4 oz. Desert Cloth consisting of 70% nylon/30% polyester with a 170x75 thread count
- Fabric treated with SPF 30 sun protection and enhanced for wicking performance

Better then the picture This is one shirt that should be worn to fully appreciate. It's so comfortable. I have two in Casper, and now warm hiking days are so much more enjoyable.

Great for fishing, as well This shirt is fabulous for wearing thousands of miles from the nearest rock plateau or canyon. I fresh and saltwater fish along the Gulf Coast and absolutely love the sunscreening performance of this shirt, as well as its toughness. Additionally, most quick-dry fishing shirts made for women are way too long for those of us who are 5'4" or under, and petites are seldom available. This shirt is perfectly sized in the torso and the arms.

Good overall I enjoyed wearing the shirt. On a cool day it blocked the wind without being too hot. The only porblem was with the sleeves. When you roll them up high enough to use the loops with the button to secure the sleeve, it made the sleeve a little too tight.

Great Shirt at Great Buy I bought this shirt for a recent weekend backpacking trip. I am one of those people who sleeps cold but
sweats like crazy on the trail. I found the shirt to be very
comfortable and cool. I hike
in the Ozarks and the weekend I weI went, it was pretty balmy. I
even got the shirt wet in the
creek to keep me even cooler. It washes very well with minimal
wrinkling. Despite the sleeves being a tad short (I have long
arms), I am very pleased with
it. It also got worn in one
spot on the back, possibly from
my backpack, but other than that,
it is a great purchase at a
great price. I love the zippered pocket on the right side (kept my
chapstick there) and the open
ventilation on the sides, back and in front. I plan to buy a few more and will use them not only for backpacking but general use as well. It was lightweight and very comfortable. I would love to see more color selections.

Beautiful shirt! This is a great shirt. I ordered the "Helio" and it's a beautiful color. The fit is great. I especially like that it's not too long. Also I can comfortably button the last button---roomy enough through the hips area.

Great I was replacing two shirts that I bought 3 or 4 years ago. I was disappointed to find that Mountain Hardwear had eliminated the stretch panel in the shoulder area. Fit is true to size. Arms are a bit short.

Perfect shirt, for any occasion I'm 5'3" 105lbs and the shirt fits perfectly, with sleeves a little bit short but when you go hiking, you can unbutton and it hangs right by the wrist.
The design is very functional. The side front pocket with velcro is so convenient to shove in maps or anything without having to zip up. The material is excellent and lots of thoughts are put into the details. I will buy more.

Best features, best fit of any travel shirt I've tried several different brands - this is the best by far. Nicely vented, very lightweight material, yet rugged enough for life in the Kalahari Desert.

Good Performer This is an excellent travel and sport shirt. Although the sleeves run short, there is a lot of protection with an added piece of cloth at the collar. The construction is excellent and the garment should last you through many adventures. Happy Trails.

Practical, if not exactly fashion forward I know I'm going to appreciate this shirt when I'm backpacking in New Mexico this summer.
I looked at a bunch of similar shirts from other manufacturers, and this seemed like the pick of the litter, style-wise, although I can't say I'm wild about the looks of any of these shirts. Nice slim fit, which is a plus.
But I know I'll appreciate it when I'm actually using it. Lots of coverage for my pale complexion, with plenty of ventilation. I like the pockets, too.

Good Quality... however, the sleeves are really short as many reviewers have posted. I ordered the size 6 (although I usually wear a small/4 in most clothing) and while the fit is great the sleeves are several inches too short (for reference: I'm 5'5). I'll definitely have to keep the sleeves rolled up. I do recommend ordering a size up if you can't decide between two sizes as the looser fit will obviously help with breathability.

Great Shirt This is my favorite shirt. I now have three shirts in Casper. I use it for sun protection when I hike in the summer and for warmth when I hike in the fall/spring. Its also great for traveling because it doesn't wrinkle and drys very quickly after washing.

Great shirt! I haven't worn it yet but I like it alot. It actually fits a bit bigger than other Mountain Hardwear items I have purchased(I usually buy one size larger in MH products). It has a lot of features to keep you cool.

terrific shirt This is just the lightweight shirt that I have been looking for. I normally wear a small; the size 6 fits perfectly except that the sleeves are a tad short.

perfect shirt for hot, sunny weather I use this shirt for hiking in hot, humid, and sunny mid-July weather--and it works great. You never get that "sticky" or "wet" feeling when wearing it, even if you have a daypack on.

this is the perfect shirt for every outdoor activities It's so perfect I own four and have passed up other performance brands even if they are on sale. It drys so quickly it's perfect for camping. Cool enough for the Beach. The sleaves and length do run shorter than most.

great shirt This shirt is very well-made and fits beautifully. I'm 5'3" and the sleeves on a size 8 are perfect. The shirt is cut so that is has a flattering hourglass shape. The blue color is very pretty, though a bit deeper than it appears on the website photo. This is a great buy.

The perfect desert shirt! This is the best desert shirt I could hope to own - it's cool, fits well, blocks the sun, and is amazingly durable. I wore it for a month and a half straight in Big Bend and loved it more than I loved all the sunscreen I didn't have to carry because of it!

This shirt has everything you need I now have 2 of these shirts, and will buy more. The velcro Napoleon chest pocket and zip pocket are incredibly useful, the flip-up sun collar saves my neck, and the side vents really keep you cool in the hot sun. I love the sleeve length, because I have short arms! These shirts always look nice, great tailoring, not messy or sloppy when you wear them around town. In fact, I wore one to a restaurant last night. Just wash, and hang dry to preserve the wicking ability - they're easy to care for, too!

Terific shirt! I now own 5 long-sleeve canyon shirts and wish for more color selections!
I like the quick dry feature and have worn my shirts hiking in the Niagara Gorge and Malta (+100 degrees last
July.)I use the Napolean front pocket for my second pair of glasses. What I like best is that I can also wear this shirt over a lycra top to dinner or an evening out.
I am unhappy that Mountain Hardware appears to be phasing this shirt out! There is no comparison!

Fantastic Shirt! Thought the price tag is sometimes a bit offputting... it's easy to see why Mountain Hardwear Gear has developed into a main stay in the closets of many outdoor enthusiasts. I just recieved my order in the mail two days ago, and already am in love with this shirt. It's light weight, soft, and immensely comfortable. It offers superior ventilation, both in the underarms and back. I can't wait to trail test it this spring. I am planning on ordering it in the rock rose with my next paycheck! Highly reccomended!!

Looks great on as a bonus! I have 4 of them now. I hike and ride horses, and they are simply the best for sun protection and breathe-ability in our hot So. Ca climate. They always wash clean no matter how much grime I get on them. I was sad they discontinued the lime green one, wanted to get another this year!

Generous cut, comfortable, fast dry, looks good! Haven't given it the true field test yet, but it dried completely between midnight and 8AM in my house the Pacific Northwest, and it was very comfortable on an all-day flight- the vents are great. The cut at the hips is more than generous, and it's a good looking shirt as well as a functional shirt. Looking forward to wearing it on trains, planes, bicycle routes and trails all summer.

Great everyday shirt I originally bought two shirts in Montreal and loved them so much that I decided to search the Web and ordered two more from Altrec. I now have 4 different colors. One suggestion: I am 5'6" and shirt feels a little too short.
