The North Face Men's Meridian Convertible Pant

Excellent for hiking, climbing, backpacking and adventure traveling through transitional weather, The North Face Meridian Convertible Pant features water-resistant DWR for liquid sunshine and a Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) rating of 30+ for the real thing. This weather versatility makes The North Face Meridian Convertible Pant an excellent choice for extended summer trips where climate changes vary significantly. Unlike the web-belted versions of The North Face unfitted Paramount shorts and pants, the Meridian Convertible Pant features an internal drawcord with a 3/4-length elastic waist for more sizing options and a little less pack weight. Long-haul backpackers appreciate this adaptable sizing feature when they're burning thrice the daily calories that they eat in the backcountry (and it's worse if the cook is bad). Travel-savvy features include a hidden internal security pocket and a practical 9-in. short inseam that won't have the kids laughing and pointing at you when you visit their village (although sometimes that's inevitable no matter what you wear).

I have been using these pants for several years now. They always perform when needed. I use them in a very hot environment, with there built in sun protection and light weight quality's they are outstanding. If you fancy a pair of shorts for the day just zip off the legs. Pack up really small dry quick very light... the best u can get, if you want some a bit more thicker go for the Paramount style. Great for work and great for Travel.

Great lightweight material that is very comfortable for hiking
I love all the pockets especially the fact that they have zippers or velcro to keep items with you. They dry very quick and keep the cool winds from getting through.

This is a excellent pair of pants.
I'm from Japan. The pants are very light and cool. I like their cargo pockets, draw cord, secret pocket, and zipper convertible system. The size is just for me. I am 5'9 and 159 lbs, and I bought M size. Shipping is quick and free. Thank you.

Great Lightweight Pants
I bought these pants in anticipation of a trip to Italy this July. I've warn them a few times to make sure they'd work for me and found them to be very lightweight, soft, and comfortable in warm humid weather. The inside security pocket will be useful for securing my passport. I don't know how they'd hold up in strenuous outdoor use but they've been great in the urban jungle. I also have Paramount pants and find the Meridian's material to be softer, lighter and more comfortable.

Best lightweight pants I've ever owned
The only thing that would improve these is some zippers at the bottom of the pants to take legs off while my shoes are on. The pants are a little long while i wear sandles but they are perfect with shoes. I will be buying a second pair in a different color as these have become pants for everyday use for me. I did have a problem with one of the elastic loops at the bottom for the roll up tabs; I reinforced it with some more stitching and all is well now.

These are the best... better than Paramount pants.
Cool, and breathable, yet wind resistant and fairly warm when you need it also. Repels water and stains amazingly well. For a thin fabric, still very tough also, and very snag resistant. Zippers to open the bottom pant legs would make these perfect. Comfortable and well constructed. They also make very good looking shorts. I've tried the Paramount pants and think these are better all the way around. I looked at many other brands of treking/convertible pants and I'm going to buy another pair of the Meridians.

simply the best!
The North Face Meridian Convertible pant is by far the best pant for the money on the market. The overall fit, the sizes available, and the colors are simple the best. One of the features I am most pleased with are the deep pockets that are great for passports, hiking gear, and just about anything else while you're on the go. They are easy to care for, travel well, and are great for packing. I think they're the best buy on the market!

TNF Men's Meridian Covertible Pant
I bought a pair of these from Altrec a while ago, and I must say I really like them. They fit well, and they are made exceptionally well, and of course they are from The North Face, so thats no surprise there. I wear them all the time, on cool days, on hot days, hiking, etc. I wear them for travel also. If you travel alot to the Caribbean, or other hot, humid remotes of the world, I hightl recommend these pants. They are made out of very light weight material, and they dry fast. No cotton in these pants. You want to avoid cotton at all cost, especially if you are traveling, hiking, etc, anything active, where you are gonna sweat alot. These pants wick it away from your skin. Get these pants. I leave them by my bed when I travel, and just get up in the morning, and slip them on, then Im ready to go. You can even wash them in a hotel sink, if you have to, they will be dry and ready to wear again in no time. great pants for the money....

Perfect travelling and hiking pants
I used this pants travelling around Europe and its perfect. Its quickdry, lightweight, packable, and fashionable. Its quickdry quality is the best, you don't have too bring so much clothing and it easily converts to shorts. Maybe Altrec can improve the shipment time of special orders, I waited for three weeks for my order with a short inseam.

Great lightweight pants.
The fabric is lightweight and breathable. As has already been mentioned new taupe is actually olive (a nice dark olive though). The pants are accurately sized. There are lots of useful pockets including an internal secure pocket for passports and the like. When converted to shorts the shorts have a nice long inseam and when used as pants you can roll up the legs several inches and secure them with a tab and button. The only thing lacking: there are no zippers on the bottom of the legs so that you can remove them without taking off your shoes.

Great Backpacking pant-shorts
The whole thing wieghs 11oz. The fabric doesn't catch on thorns or pick or snag. They seem very durable for how Light and thin they are. They actually look good as shorts also. Long enough inseam. cargo pockets are smallish which I like. Doesn't have the puffy look, as I keep only small things in cargo pants or shorts anyway. No zippers on the ankles which saves wieght but you have to take your boots off to convert. Breathes, dies quickly, and yet fairly warm too.

Great all-around pants for 3 season events
Great all-around pants. Good fit, UPF 30 protection, and zippered left pocket allows easy access to items while sitting. Legs zip on and off easily for warmer conditions or to keep cool during a strenuous outing. Side note: These were out of season and not available in my size on the web - but Altrec managed to find a pair. Can't complain about their fast deliveries and customer service.

you could not buy a better pair of pants for the money
These pants are great, Just got back from a week hike in the north cascades ,in the state of Washington, and they were all that I expected. Light weight , comfortable and dries quickly if wet. Also they are convertible, so that you can remove the legs of the pants. Lots of pockets, and you can not beat the price. I would recommend these pants to anyone.

Very Good Pants for Travel
I recently bought these to take on a trip to Turkey where I will be on the road for several weeks. I wanted something light, that could be washed easily, dried quickly from washing or rain and offered sun protection. These pants are all of that; easily converting from pants to shorts and back again. The ability to store the pant legs in pockets on the shorts is great for those short hikes or climbs when you don't want to carry a pack. On my test hikes and wearing them around town, so far they have been very comfortable keeping me cool in the heat yet warm when the cool winds blow. This is truly another great The North Face product.

Great Value!
Ligtweight and comfortable, easy to clean with well designed zipper pockets that don't bulge becasue the zipper is correctly placed. Quickly convertible to shorts with marking "L" & "R" on the leggings so you don't have to take a 50-50 guess. These are worth the full price. On sale, they're a steal. I am buying another pair.

Fantastic pants for the active TEACHER! I coach VB after my physics classes, and need a good convertable pant that is lightweight, and still nice enough to wear in front of the administration. North Face Meridian convertable is the answer.
