A shining alternative to packing two headlamps into the backcountry, Petzl's lightweight Myolite 3 gives you the practical combination of a 76-meter-range halogen headlamp and an energy saving LED camp light. It's a logical choice for climbing, camping, spelunking and adventure racing. The large halogen lamp has a glove-friendly bezel adjustment that allows you to change the beam focus with minimal fuss and fumbling. Both halogen and LEDs can be tilted to the angle you need without having to crane your neck or do those chicken-like bobbing that eventually drive the folks in your party nuts. Like other Petzl Myolite headlamps, the Myolite 3 comes with an adjustable elastic headband with an optional top strap.
Excellent lamp for the weight and price
I bought this lamp to mount on my riding helmet and it works perfectly. The LED's cover far more ground than I expected and the Xenon bulb can be tuned in tight or very broad beam to suit your needs. I found the xenon bulb will allow me to see out to 75+ yards very clearly and it easily illuminates beyond that even on nights with no ambient light.
great light
great combo light. If folks are having trouble with the weight perhaps exercise is the answer. The weight is negligable in my opinion for the gains you get. I can easily see 45+ meters with the xenon bulb and the LED's are superb. I own plenty of Petzl lights and this one is a great addition.
This headlamp is MAD SWEET
Amazing, I love it. Satisfies all your needs. its so nice to have both LED and Halogen. i really can't think of any problem with it i couldn't ask for more, especially for the price

Myolite Headlamp
Excellent design providing multi levels of light beam. Hands free usage is a must for the camper or any night activity.
Slick and functional
this is a great deal for a headlamp. you have the option of the LED and the focus of a traditional headlamp all in one. takes AA which are more common that AAA which is a bonus. the headlamp is a little heavier than i thought. it is certainly not as light as the tikka, however, the option of having a focused light the illuminates more that a few feet in front of you is worth the ounces. all in all, this is a very strong headlamp.
GREAT GEAR
I dont know why I went so long with out this. LEDs are the best no blinding, just great visual of of trail!!!
Perfect for the price
So far, I have thoroughly enjoyed my headlamp. I mainly use it while I am riding my bike at night and it puts off enough light for people to see me well enough in advance (for which I am thankful). The LED is quite enough for what I am using it for but I am certain that, given the chance, the use of the halogen would reveal similar accolades. Knowing that I have both light sources gives me comfort.
Good
Trail running with the LED's is OK until you start barreling down a hill at full speed. Switch to the halogen before you start a high speed decent. I use my night rider with explorer headband for really lighting up the night!
Great L.E.D.s
The L.E.D.s are great and put out plenty of light. The Xenon is weak but helps you see objects farther away when needed. All in all it is a good headlamp. I just wish it came with the top strap. (sold seperately)
A good combination of LED and halogen lamp
The myolight 3 is a great handfree headlight if you're going on a short 3 day 2 night kind of hike. Even though it's twice as heavy as Petzl's tikka series headlights, the additional wight is not really noticable once you wear it on your head. The range is good, but the burn time for the halogen lamp is slightly dissapointing being only 4 hours. However, have no fear as you can always use the LED lights to provide you with 120 hours of clear illumination.
Adequate
I am a very giant fan of Petzl, and have been using their headlamps for the last 17 years. The latest LED headlamps are spectacular, and I'm a big fan of the Tikka & Zipka. After a year of constant use, I can say that this headlamp means extra weight for not much added benefit. Perhaps I am now personally too spoiled by the bright performance of LEDs, but this particular Xenon bulb, for all its purported ability to "throw" light further into the night, fails to impress. At best, it gives you a faint idea of what's in the near distance.
I would much rather see Petzl make a low-power LED headlamp like this, combined with one ultra-powerful, battery-sucking bulb which can light up tree 300' away.
Sidebar- I will confess that the Zipka, which features a weird strap/ cable thingy, is surprisingly comfortable, and has become my favorite headlamp (I have owned & destroyed 6 Petzl headlamps so far. The Zipka's compact size, reasonable durability, & marathon battery life explains why it now goes everywhere with me. I recommend it above all others at this point, based on overall practicality).
Great light but kind of heavy.
The light functions and the hybrid options are great on this lamp, it just feels way too heavy on your head!
