This ball cap is made of waterproof GORE-TEX® Paclite® fabric and fully seam taped for complete protection. A shaped bill sheds precipitation and deflects sunlight. A drawcord adjustment offers security when sudden squalls try to infiltrate.
Outdoor Research Drifter Cap
This is a great cap, because of it's packlite goretex. Your head does not get to hot, and this cap
blocks the rain and wind very well. The fit is right on.
Nice,well made
For those occasions where a nice light
breathable hat with an amble visor to
shade your eyes is required, this is it!
High quality cap
This is very well made, with great attention to detail and quality control, unlike many caps with misaligned panels or crooked peaks (Nike, New Era, Under Armor). I bought L/XL for a size 7 3/8 head, and it fits well. It is very comfortable, with a great sweat band. I have pale skin, and the band does not leave any marks on my forehead. Part of this is also because the drawcord sizing is great and preferable to the usual adjustment mechanism on many caps with an opening in the back, with one potential factor to bear in mind: when you rest the back of your head against something (car seat, tree, whatever) you can feel the plastic cord keeper. I have an earlier OR high-rated UPF cap (similar look, but not Gore-Tex, can't remember the name, apparently no longer made) which utilized a hook and loop closure on the exterior (similar to the OR Prism Cap currently available), which is flatter and more comfortable when it rests on something (though this earlier cap had the strap in black rather than the same colour as the cap; the Prism Cap corrects this).
The Deep Green colour is attractive, with the OR logo being made of reflective material. I like the styling overall, which is not a conventional baseball style, but more European; think of a French Army "Bigeard" cap from the '50s (Google it:) or a Rhodesian Army jungle cap from the '70s...i.e., with a low-profile, round-ish top. I like it, but it may not be to everyone's taste. The peak holds its shape nicely.
I ordered this with 4 other items; they all came in one package, which is great and highly preferred, since Canadians get stuck with a $5.00 "handling fee" from Customs for any package assessed for taxes/duties (no duties, just taxes this time), so avoiding multiple packages for a number of items is a plus. Also, an order of $45.00+ to Canada also earned free shipping just like a continental U.S. order, a nice touch that other U.S. online vendors should emulate.

Great light-weight gore-tex cap.
I use the Drifter Cap while running in the rain or snow and it does a good job of keeping me dry. I plan on using it when Kayaking this spring and I think that it will perform well then also. The drawcord is a nice feature. I works well when it gets windy. Another great OR product.
