The highly wind and water resistant Polartec® Power Shield® fabric on this breathable Arc'teryx Gamma MX Jacket makes it a great choice for moderate weather protection for strenuous outdoor activities. Climbing Magazine gave the jacket their Editor's Choice award for alpinist versatility. It's made with Polartec® Power Shield® fabric, a technical blended material that features tightly woven nylon on the outside laminated to a wicking insulation layer inside, so it protects you from the elements while still allowing for breathable soft shell performance. If you ski or do any type of climbing, the Arc'teryx Gamma MX Jacket has you comfortably covered in mild weather or broken cloud conditions with short bursts of rain or snow. Stitch-free laminated zippers, pockets and drawcord optimize the technical protection while reducing the overall weight. Added touches like a soft brushed collar lining and streamlined interior wind flap enhance the comfort options better than some minimalist-configured soft shells. If you're looking for a similar configuration with a helmet-compatible Storm Hood, take a moment to check out the Arc'teryx Gamma MX Hoody.
Great Jacket - Highly Recommendable
This jacket, as one would expect from Arcteryx, fits great, looks great, and works well. It's lightweight, comfortable, and warm, as well as attractive. I would definitely recommend it.
Great Coat ... Best soft shell on the market .
This was a coat for my Girlfriend. Got a great deal on it (thanks altrec) and all I can say is that if I didn't have one already I would be jelous. It performs in 90% of all conditions and can be worn in warm weather and cold, dry and wet (put it on under a shell in heavy rain (Alpha SL or Beta SL) are great choices). Honestly if you can only have one SS or if you have 6+ (like us) this is the coat for you. My only consideration would be to get a MX Hoody (that would be a perfect all around jacket if you like bad weather). If you know how to layer this coat can, and for me has, been used at and bellow 0. Mine takes a Maverik AR with base layers well and hers fits the same. One warning, buy this coat and you will be hooked on Arc'teryx forever.
Great. Highly recommended.
Very, very good. I previously owned a Arc'teryx gamma SV (loved it but then lost it somewhere in Cork!)and I have to say I prefer the gamma MX. The SV seemed to be able to endure more beatings - I fell down a hill, got bruises but the jacket survived the ordeal with no marks! But the location of the pockets for the SV was a bit weird (chest height)... Anyhow, loving the MX. Very light, warm and wind/rain resistant. Great Sangria colour. The size (M) seems perfect. I also own the epsilon AR but the size there (M) is definitely small. Too form fitting to have a middle layer.

All I hoped for...and more
This jacket lives up to the arc'teryx name. With excellent quality in design, performance, and fit this jacket is flawless. I recently went on a muddy bike trail that splashed mud and water all over the jacket, however, when the ride was over I simply brushed off my Gamma MX and the mud and water were completely wicked away. I'm looking forward to many more of these moments with the jacket.
I also dig the zipper pocket on the arm and the cinch drawcord at the hem. Very pleased with this jacket.
Superb jacket
This is a superb jacket in every way. Very beautifully made, Arc'Teryx pays great attention to the details. The quality is head and shoulder above similar products of other brands. The fit is perfect and it looks really nice, but does restrict movement. It's quite warm in 40F weather with an extra layer under. Put up very well in light rain and snow. Well worth the money.
