Leki Wanderfreund Pole (Single) (Fall 06)

A great alternative to a cane!
My doctor recommended this walking pole. I have arthritis in right knee and left hip. I do a lot of walking and was having a lot of pain from the arthritis in my hip. I use this pole on my right side. It keeps me in the correct walking position thus keeping pressure off my hip. I love it! It’s lightweight and looks great. I think it is a great alternative to a cane.

Solid support - great sporty looks
I bought this for my father who is 67 and recovering from a rather bad leg break. His leg is mostly healed now, but he walks with a decided limp. This Leki Wanderfreund with the smooth cork T-handle really helps him get around with much greater ease. My Dad is not a small guy (5'10" 240lbs.) and this pole is strong and provides good support for him.

Light, strong and the handle works just like I thought it would.
I have carpal tunnel in my right hand and so I felt the handle with the hole would give me several holding positions and I could switch my grip often....I was right. It's light and strong, retracts up small. Should have come complete with a basket however, and Altrec evidently doesn't sell the basket.

A very versatile and good staff
For those who do not adhere to the current fashion of walking with two poles (the benefits of which can be discussed about), the Wanderfreund offers a very good alternative for the various uses of a staff: support, probing boggy ground, measuring the depth of water, etc. The build is light and strong, the grip polyvalent, allowing many types of use rather than the single grip of the ski-style poles. A basket is highly recommended for off-trail use.

A must have!
The Leki Wanderfreund Pole is a wonderful aid in hiking over hill and dale and crossing rocky streams. It keeps you steady and balanced like an extra hand and it's great to lean on while stopping to take in the views. You can actually hang your back pack on it too. (After trying mine, my husband had to get one for himself.)

Two Poles Up
If you're ready to hit the trail, so are the Leki trekking poles. These poles have all the bells and whistles that you are looking for in a trekking pole. You'll find them light with adjustable lengths that stay at that length because of the great locking system. The comfortable handles don't rip your hands apart, even though larger grips would be great. Also if you're a little vain (like I am) they look good too. So make a special place on the mantel for your old wooden staff and give Leki a try.

Great pole.
I used my pole for general walking over a city block in distance. Since it is adjustable I can also use it as a cane. I have Parkinson's disease and am off balance alot. The pole helps me to stay balanced. The price was right too (about half of the price quoted by a local store).

Unbeatable price for a great pole
Wonderful pole, I love the design of the handle, the shape allows for multiple holding positions while walking, which greatly reduces hand and arm fatigue, and the cork type material is easy to grip with wet or sweaty hands, as appossed to a rubber handle, overall excellent, and you can't beat the closeout price.

Good Price, Great Service!
This LEKI Trekking Pole is a quality item at a great price. It gives me that little bit extra security when hiking in the woods. I use mine Geocaching, it's wonderful for support on uneven ground, probing the a muddy trail. It's light, strong, adjustable, and did I say it was a great price. Dual use walking pole.
This is light weight, strong, and packs up to a reasonable length for the airlines. More importantly for me, was the cane feaure as I just came off a total hip replacement and we are working toward hiking in Utah, so it bridged both worlds.

Outstanding service

Not as pictured but still very good
The handle is not as it shows in the picture, but still is T shaped, with a hole (that my thumb fits in) at the top of the staff, just under the top of the T. It's light, adjusts easily (stays where you put it), and can't be beat for the price.

After 18 yrs..of constant use, it is like new...
My "Freund" and I have wandered for at least 18 yrs, and they (2),have performed remarkedly ! They have 3 changeable ends.. a terrain basket cup, a snow basket, and a rubber tip....only the rubber tip has showned wear & tear....for good reason..(my tires should last so long!) I would like to replace them. So if anyone knows where I could do that, I would appreciate it..

Good hiking pole
Good hiking pole. Little worried with the strength of the handle. Wrist straps could be improoved but all in all they are far better than not having any at all. Excellent for down hill hiking with a heavy load.
