Our warmest fleece, made to enhance mobility in frigid temperatures and prevent windchill nightmares. Now with a toastier fabric package - variegated fiber R2® on the inside and full-loft R2® on the outside, sandwiching a windproof laminate - our stretchy R4 excels alone or under a shell. Its lack of shoulder seams allows pack-wearing comfort, and the high-placed handwarmer pockets stay clear of a harness. The women's jacket has invisible zippers on the handwarmers and feminine contouring. Made in USA. Regulator® SystemRegulator is an integrated system (base, insulation, shell) that works in unison to keep you dryer and more comfortable over a wider range of conditions than a traditional waterproof layering system.

Love it. It's not too short (which many jackets are as I have a long body), it is really warm and cozy and was softer than I expected considering it's windproof. I returned the Lightweight R4 for this and am glad I did. Although the fit of the Lightweight seemed more feminine, it just did not keep me warm. I run cold so I wear this all the time!!

It's cut to fit a woman's body. Long sleeves. Won't expose your midriff when you raise your arms. Medium to heavy weight fleece. Breathable and best of all, completely windproof! Wish I would have bought this before any of my other fleece coats!!

Starting off with the con's, I agree with many of you: the jacket is especially tight in the armpits and the arms. I like to wear hoodies over a tee shirt during the winter, and the arms are borderline too tight when I add that layer. It actually makes it very difficult to look at my watch. Otherwise, it is wonderful.
Full sized pockets fit a lot of things, and it has really stood the warmth and wind test of the New England winter that doesn't seem to end...

This jacket is all-purpose and great for casual days on the town, but also great for camping, hiking, etc in cold weather. A must have.

doesn't get much better than this. i had a north face basic fleece and this doesn't even compare. it also stays looking nicer longer. good in the wind.

It is a great jacket, very warm, and soft, beautifully detailed, and beautiful color, and high quality materials and workmanship. It is very light and ideal for trips were packing space is a premium.
This jacket is a great shell for high altitude climbing.
If you are planning in getting one, I'm sure you will enjoy it for many years to come.

I am loving this jacket - it really keeps me warm, and the fit is just right. It is not the type of jacket where you can bundle up with a bulky sweatshirt/sweater, but you won't really need to cause it keeps you toasty already. The contour fit is flattering, and the fabric is nice and soft to touch. I wish Patagonia offered more color options - I would really go for an olive/forest green or maroon red...and I also wish they provided inside pockets to the jacket. Aside from that, I am very happy with my purchase.

I love the Patagonia R4. Like some of you I wasn't sure wheter or not to spend the money, but I did and I LOVE IT. It is the best investment I have ever made in a jacket. It is windproof. I Live in Michigan and this is basically the only jacket I use. It is so warm!!

Awesome fleece. I'm told it is extremely warm and comfortable (was a present). Jacket looks great, but note that it runs a little small.

I was unsure which jacket to order and I am glad I chose the one I did. It is warm, nice looking, and repels the wind effectively. It is amazing how warm it is even though it is lightweight and therefore not cumbersome. My sister wants one too and I have received many complements on it. I would heartily recommend it to anyone.

Great looking fleece, almost too warm, but I haven't worn it in weather below freezing yet! I am convinced it will keep me comfortable throughout ski season and winter. My only criticism is the collar, it seems a little obtrusive around my chin.

I purchased the Women's version of the R4 for my girlfriend, after being so satisfied with the mens version. Both R4's are the warmest fleece that we both have worn and we like that a great deal about the jacket.
Unfortunately, the women's version is much more form fitting and a lot shorter in length then the men's version. So much so, that my girlfriend that is a petite small needed to order a medium just to get something that fit comfortably! These jackets are intended for outdoor activities,and should allow the freedom of movement while hiking that the men's version does. Yes, the form fitting does "look good" but my girlfriend would have prefered a few extra inches in length...
In checking, it looks like Pentagonia might have corrected this with their newer version of the jacket (which they advertise as a relaxed fit).
Overall, a great, warm fleece jacket, but order a size larger!

This fleece is warm and insulated. It fit a little smaller than I expected and shed on my clothes a little bit the first few times I wore it.

the jacket is very warm, and is great in the cold if you are not doing anything too strenuous. If you are, it's a bit sweaty since it's not as breathable as regular fleece. Also, it's not very stretchy and I find the centaur cuffs annoying to get off, so it loses a point for comfort.

When i first got my jacket I was ready to send it back because of the tightness in the armpits. But I decided to wait and wear it a few times. True, its still snug...but 2weeks later Im still wearing it. You can only wear a thin shirt with it, but really thats all i need. Ive wore it in 25mph winds at 20 degrees and been plenty toasty. No wind gets in, unless you have a pocket open. I may keep this jacket after all.

Stylish and very warm. It is cut small, but if you have doubts about the sizing, get the next largest size. The arms are long and tight-fitted, so it is hard to see your watch and such. Despite the sizing and the long arms, it is still a great jacket. It can protect you from cold wind better than a down jacket!

This is a very nice jacket but I found it a bit tight under the arms. Very durable and great at stopping the wind, you only have to wear a light layer underneath. It has a very close to the body fit.

The product is great but the size runs a little small and for people do not like long sleeves, might not like it. Otherwise, it is warm and comfortable to wear.

The jacket is really good, it's much warmer than I expected (which is good) and it has a nice fitted cut. The only thing against the seeming in the shoulder area felt bit weird at first and took some getting used to.

I really wanted to like this, but found it to be lacking a bit in toughness. I also found that the fabric didn't seem to breath that well. The armpits fit up fairly tightly, which gives this jacket a nice look, but made me feel clastrophobic. I kept wearing it but noticed that each time I took it off, I felt relieved. I sent it back, wasn't worth the price tag and I could tell I'd accidentally kill it or in some way harm it. Perhaps would fit a smaller person better. Did keep the wind out well and was warm.
