Awesome vest This is the first vest I've ever owned and it's fantastic. I love the elastic around the shoulder openings...provides a snug fit, but not too tight. It's very warm and comfortable. I'm 5'-10" and about 180 and it fits perfect. I live in south Mississippi so it doesn't get really cold here, but it does get into the 20's and 30's occasionally. I canoe and hike a lot in the winter and this vest if great...allows superior movement while keeping me warm. This is my 3rd product from MW and they've all been great. Thanks ALTREC!!

Nice vest Very comfortable down vest with nicely placed hand pockets. The coller is well placed and the nylon fabric on the shoulder is made of a tougher fabric so it will not rip or be cut. Lightweight with elastic in the arms, so you will maintain your core warmth.

It doesn't make me look fat! I love, love, love this vest. All four pockets are very usable, the hand ones are incredibly warm. It's light weight and packs down to nothing. A great vest.

Excellent vest. Provides outstanding warmth with almost no weight. Typical Mountain Hardwear quality. Better than the similar North Face product, but surprisingly less expensive.

Top Hole This vest is, thankfully, absolutely perfect. It's cheap, extremely warm, packs down very small w/ included stuff sack (about the size of, um, let's see, a...baby's head? Cylindrical canteloupe? I dunno. It's sweet. THe pockets are lined front and back w/ thick fleece. Armholes are smallish for heat retention. Get it on the small side. Kritios Boy is very warm. (and for $95 bucks!!!)

Very Good Vest I use this for skiing on real cold days under my goretex shell and I carry it with me on day hikes. It comes with a nice stuff sack for dropping into your day backpack. It came in real handy last week as we neared the top of a local 14er in colorado.

Warm, comfortable... This is a nice vest, with one small design problem.
Overall the vest is well designed, three pockets (two sides, one chest) with webbing ties on the zippers to facilitate grabbing with mittens on. Additionally the right side pocket has a key-clip, incase you leave the pocket open. The collar is lined with a softer suede like material which is comfortable on the face and neck, and it comes up suitably high.
The only problem is it has a tendency to "ride up", especially when sitting down. I notice it in the car, and when sitting down outside without back support. Maybe just a side effect of my own build (which is average, or so I thought!).
Regardless, its warm, its cheap, and its well designed. If you intend to sit around in it all day, you might want to consider something else, if you want it for activity, you can;t go wrong. Without the riding up issue, 5 stars, with it, only 4.

Convenient Warmth This thing is superbly warm and very easy to carry around.
I live in the south on the coast, so I don't get to use it but about 1.5 months out of the year unless I'm in the mountains or travelling. So I would suggest maybe getting something a little less warm if you're in the same boat and don't spend much time up north or up high.
The only con is an occasional feather poking out of the jacket, it's just kind of annoying, but causes no loss of functionality.

Excellent purchase Will keep you super warm on those cold nights on the trail. Doesn't weigh anything, so it is an excellent item for cold weather camping and backpacking.

I love these vests!! I am a regular buyer of MHW products and this is my 5th vest - as I am very hard on them with my work, chores and play. Although the old ones look extremely abused, they still hold together well and I keep them around for hunting, fishing, hiking, camping and also my construction work. I like keeping the new one for nice casual dress functions and enjoy being warm but still having the use of my arms without restriction. They hold up well and keep doing the job which is why I keep buying them over other brands that tend to fall apart or leak feathers and lose their form and durability after several washes.
A good investment.

really good for winter fantastic warmth when you need it, the vest tends to heat your entire body and gives you the arm freedom, which i like, i have now owned two because my first one was stolen, so i had to buy another because they are so conveniant and practical.

Perfect down sleeveless jacket This jacket is well thought out and immensely practical.
Good warmth, hardwearing (as the brand suggests!) while storing small - its practical either for summer evenings on its own or with a fleece underneath in late Autumn or early spring.
The chest pocket is perfect for an i-pod, the inside pocket for a book, and you're still left with two handwarmer pockets!

perfect for outdoor activities This vest is exactly what I needed for my camping trips and also just for wearing around town. The vest is stylish and functional. It is key in keeping your core temperature stable. The vest has its own stuff sack and fleese lining in the pockets. I am happy with my choice.

One of the best down vests in the market I've owned several similar vests, but this one cannot be beat for warmth, durability, and simple functionality. There are plenty of pockets in easy to get to areas. I highly recommend this MHW product along with most other items that they produce.

looks great, works great Hey, a down vest is a down vest. Comfortable, well made, chose over another brand (initials TNF) which was more expensive and didn't have handy chest pocket for sunglasses, etc.
