Ruff Wear Approach Dog Backpack II (M and L) (Fall 07)

Ruff Wear's Approach Pack™ II is a multipurpose dog pack suitable for daylong trail outings and overnight summer trips. This medium size pack has 906 cubic inches of carrying capacity, giving you more than enough space for treats, food, a collapsible dog dish and some pick-up bags. If you're sniffing out the possibilities of an extended-range trip and prefer the notion of a mountaineering-oriented pack with an internal hydration system, take a couple of moments to check out Ruff Wear's Palisades Pack™ II.

Good Job Ruff Wear!
This pack has it all! Great support, perfect balance, and roomy sidepacks. My Siberian and I do a lot of hiking in the wilderness areas of Montana and have never enjoyed a pack that performs as well as this one. One possible consideration from Ruff Wear would be to pad the shoulder straps. I did this after the first outing just because I wanted "Lily" to be more comfortable during a long haul. A product well worth the money!

Great Backpack!
This is the best dog backpack I have found! I use it on my service dog and it works great. The webmaster harness underneath makes the backpack fit great and very comfortable. The packs are the perfect size for day to day items.

Good Job Ruff Wear!

Great Backpack!

Great pack for short walks
This pack is good for short walks only. I only take my dog on short walks in the park and put her own water bottle and mine in each pocket

good pack
This is a good pack. our dog is 45lb catahoula and the medium is still a little loose for her. my only suggestion for the pack is some padding for the front straps. in warm weather the straps rub on her chest and i had to make covers for the straps. otherwise we wears it with pride.

Approach II Pack
The packs pictured on this website are not the correct ones. They are the old models. This pack is a great pack, except for the fact that it's saddlebags are not quite as big as some other packs available. It also only has one zipper on each bag, which can be a pain. On the top, at the rear of the pack, there is a seam at the base of the grab handle. It rubs a spot on my dog's back. I had to line it with fleece, and it still messes up her fur there, and I imagine it can be uncomfortable if she wears it for long periods of time. THIS is a flaw that I feel the manufacturer should consider fixing. Other than those three things, though, the pack is a great pack! I LOVE the spiderweb harness. It makes it much easier for the dog because the pack doesn't restrict shoulder movement.
