Comfortable and Well Designed. Ok..let me tell you where I am coming from....I am an extremely experience outdoor person. I am in shape and 52 years old. This back is not for everybody...but Mountain Hardwear targeted a market and I think they hit a bullseye!
The pack is heavier than a lot of what is out there and more expensive. The thing is that the designers were interested in creating a durable pack that was COMFORTABLE and adjustable.
I bought the pack for multiple night treks to carry more gear than my lightweight Black Diamond.
I am a very handy, patient person.. The setup on this pack is more complicated than any others I have owned but it was worth it. I read the assembly instructions 3 times and watched the online assembly video about three times and started and stopped it while I was utilizing all of the incredible personal adjustments that the designers put into the Solitude. If you take the time to do this correctly the pack is amazing! It distributes the load more evenly than any pack I have ever used and it is so adjustable on the fly if the terrain gets steep or you want to shift the load a little to different areas of your body. This pack is VERY comfortable when loaded up....but if you don't have patience to assemble it and fit it to your body geometry..this is not the pack for you.

Amazing Knowing Mountain Hardwear, I knew i was going to expect excellent quality, which is exactly what I got. I do a lot of backpacking and mountaineering, and the pack suits both activities very well, lots of space, the right amount of pockets to keep weight down, very compact for a large bag, very comfortable carrying 50+ lbs, great for week+ backpacking trips. I recommend having someone help you customize the harness system, it was a bit annoying to do it by myself, I also suggest downloading the harness instructions from the MH website, the instructions that come with the pack are a bit fuzzy. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase.
