Identified by a classic Nordic tassel, the versatile Cloudveil Four Shadows Beanie conforms to any high aerobic activity. Whether skate skiing, running or hitting the backcountry, the Schoeller® dryskin fabric is durable, air permeable, permanently elastic, water and wind resistant at what ever the pace. Featuring a four-way stretch fleece headband to absorb sweat and warm the ears, a four-way fleece panel is also at the center back of the hat. The highly functional stretch fabric, with double weave construction, uses a Cordura® and nylon blend face for excellent abrasion and hard wearing characteristics. The Cool Plus® backer offers a soft hand, and uses four-chamber fibers, which increase evaporation and speed up the drying process. A NanoSphere® textile finish provides excellent water, oil and grease repellency, to maintained performance after 50 laundry cycles.

I picked up this hat when I forgot to pack one on a trip. Now I use it exclusively. Lightweight, close fitting, and small, it stays in my jacket pocket all the time. Excellent aerobic activity hat for XC skiing, running, or cycling. It fits easily under a helmet, and I have no problem covering my ears. Not a windstopper, so I'll pull over a hood when I'm stopped in a windy spot.

This hat will not completely cover your ears. If you are looking for hat to get you through winter's coldest days, then keep looking.
This is however a great little cap for high aerobic activities and it fits well under a helmet. This is my favorite climbing hat because it fits so well underneath my helmet and doesn't dampen sound. Ever notice how Windstopper hats do a great job of blocking the wind and muffling sound? That's not an issue with this beanie. Use a hood or earmuffs if the temp drops and the wind picks up.
Overall: good materials, good fit, but smaller than you'd expect.

this is a well-made hat with good fabric, but it is too small to cover the ears--it keeps retracting so you have to pull it down repeatedly in you have a larger head.
