I've been waiting for these shoes all my running life. I love the fit, how light weight it is and how close to the ground. It feels like you're running in bare feet. At the same time, they're surpisingly sturdy and durable.
Pros: lightweight, close to the ground, like running in bare feetGreat Trail Runners Shoes

Awesome for Travel/Running
October 17, 2011
Bought these for a lightweight ~barefoot running shoe and was blown away by how light they are. Super comfortable and great for running, more durable than I thought they would be but I wouldn't take them on anything with screen or sharp rock. My only complaint is that they have a slight stiffness under the palm of the foot - more than maybe necessary. Have been traveling with them for almost 3 months in Central America as my only shoe and they work great. The black can even pass as semi-formal shoes to the undiscriminating eye.
Pros: lightweight, no heel paddingTough and Lightweight
October 03, 2011
Have now put about 14 miles on the shoes in my first two runs. So far, very comfortable, do a great job protecting your feet from small rocks/gravel but are very lightweight, Definitely will change the way you run (i.e. more on your toes/forefoot). I like them so far.
I'm forever a minimal convert!!

I've been thinking about running on minimal shoes for some time. I decided to buy them after much research and went on a 5 miler when I got the shoes. My feet never felt so "real" landing against the pavement. My form, foot placement was right on. I could've ran further, but as this was my first time running minimal, and as they suggest, you run short distances to get your body accustomed to the shoes. That was the furthest I took it. I ran on pavement and trail. Both felt just as "real". I was hesitant on the cushion as I am 6'2" and 200lbs. But, they felt great! I quickly bought another pair, unfortunately not through Altrec. But will be soon buying more to rotate. And, these will be coming from Altrec:O) I still have my other running shoes that will soon be fading out as I get more minimal shoes to replace them. If you have not tried running on minimal shoes, try it. I love the colors, I got the green MT101.

Awesome trail runner
May 29, 2011
Out of the box was really suprised how light it is. Been dishing out a good beating on my trail of choice which is 1000ft of gain in about 1.8 miles. They make me not throw my heel down which is what ive been trying for years and these seem to do the trick. the fit is true and comfortable. the tred on the bottom does a great job on fast slick rock. great shoe. green color is awesome.
Solid First Trail Runners

I primarily wear the shoes for casual dress, but I have used them for a variety of other activities like basketball, trail running, and a little bit of soccer. The lightweight feel is great and the flexibility of the shoes is something a couple of people have commented as a strong point. As with other online reviews, the shoes breath REALLY well and after running through some puddles they dry out really quickly. I mostly wear them without socks as they seem to fit to the shape of my foot very well. All in all, I am very happy with this purchase and have had no serious complaints. (I've owned the pair for about two weeks).
Pros: lightweight, breathe, flexible, look great, tractionMy Poor Pinky Toe
May 11, 2011
There is a plastic piece on the outside of the shoe that irritated my pinky toe. I loved the style of the shoe and enjoyed how light it was. However, along with being uncomfortable, the immovable insole was very slick so my foot slid around a lot.
Good track flat like shoe for running
May 09, 2011
I enjoy this shoe, but have a Achilles ten don problem that flares up when running with it so have backed off using it until that clears up. Comfortable shoe, a little tight on the pinky toe for a couple of days until it loosened up. Now fits real good. Feels similar to a Nike aqua sock as far as the soles are concerned. I think it is a good choice if your ankles are in good shape. I had problem before, the achilles tendinitises, so most people won't have this issue. Good looking shoe if you get the green, really shines up in the sunlight. Like someone else said, looks like the metallic green beetle ..

Just received it. Color, design and fitting are all perfect. My feet looks small for 11 & 1/2 shoes. Feels light. Price is cheap. Will buy another color.
Good thin soled versitile shoes
April 16, 2011
I was looking for a thin soled running/light hiking shoe, almost an alternative to the Vibram Five Fingers. I want something that'll give me minimal cushioning to let my foot work the way nature intended. I tried the NIKE FREE but they were too narrow for me. I found these and got excited because New Balance offers wide shoes and my feet are wide. However for whatever reason these we're offered in wide. I decided to give them a try and so far they are great. I usually were a 9.5 and though these aren't as wide as some of my shoes they still work fine. They offer great protection with very little cushion, which is exactly what I was looking for.
Too long of a review of some very nice shoes.

I got these to try out for both trail, and sidewalk running. Additionally, if I liked them I am/was considering on wearing them on the PCT. When I first got them, I was really impressed with how light they are. Since then, everyone who has lifted them has talked about how light they are. It's really nice to run in them, you can barely feel them and since I've gotten them, if I run in any other shoes it feels like I have weights on my feet, not sure if that's good or bad! They felt great when I put them on, with exception of my pinky toe on the right foot feeling slightly cramped. The left felt fine, but the right just felt pressured. It likely is just my feet/foot is weird. I dealt with it for a few days, then I found that on the outside, if I just cut off a tiny strip of the shiny fabric that was the culprit area, it relieved the pressure immediately. The shiny area in question actually has two layers of fabric above the mesh, so maybe its just too much material there. Not sure, but now that's gone they are the nicest running shoes I have ever worn. I expect some people may expect I should have rated it lower for such a thing, but I figure it likely only effects a few people. And I feel like to get any running shoes to really fit you perfectly you need to mod them to what your needs are (less heel, insoles, etc.) so it just comes with the territory. And it also has to say something that rather than saying "oh my feet are cramped, return them" that I decided they were good enough to cut them up and keep them! I have also done an hour or two's worth of running in both light rain and heavy snow (about 1-2 feet of fresh powder) and I was SERIOUSLY impressed with how well they kept the moisture out. Wearing wool socks, only towards the end did I even feel ANY moisture. Maybe it was just perfect conditions but that was great! My only second complaint would relate to those experiences. I have noticed the sole rubber tends to be a little bit more slippery than I would like on things like wet rocks, slick pavement/cement. Not remarkably slippery, just not as good as say, trail shoes made for handling slippery rock crossings. Needless to say, I might be buying a few more pairs for the PCT, and look forward to whatever shoe replaces these guys.
Pros: super lightGood soft trail shoe
December 08, 2010
I think this is a great trail shoe for softer surfaces and shorter trail races.
