Description

If running barefoot appeals to you, the New Balance MT20 Minimus Trail Running Shoe for men gives you the lightweight feel without the annoyance of picking pine needles out from between your toes. Unlike traditional workout shoes and sneakers, New Balance Minimus footwear features a thin sole with a small 4-mm drop between the heel height and the toes, which places your foot in a far more natural position than conventional shoe designs. The width along the forefoot is also wider so your foot can naturally expand with each impact on the trail. Minimus shoes have no inserts and a thin midsole, which reduces shoe weight and encourages a midfoot striking area. Note: Some runners find that the Men's New Balance MT20 Minimus Trail Running Shoe tends to run a smidgen small on sizing, so consider moving up a size if you're often stumped between choosing footwear sizes.

Minimus for Max Fitness
October 14, 2011

Great shoes for cross training, from weights to running and agility work. The light weight is terrific for body weight movements like pull ups to name one. I found the fit a bit snug, so I went up 1/2 size. Very happy with the performance and as usual, Altrec delivered my order lightning quick - very satisfied with their service.

Pros: light weight, good color/style

Great minimalist shoe.
September 13, 2011

I wanted a minimalist shoe and found the minimus to be the best deal. They're light, comfortable, have thin soles and are helpful with walking and running more naturally. They look good also. A zero drop sole would be nice but the 4 mm drop isn't too noticable and far from the huge drop that traditional shoes have. The design and minimal drop promote landing on the midfoot or ball of the foot which is much better mechanically and helps to prevent injuries that landing on the heel can cause because of the lack of shock absorption. I never thought to wear shoes without socks but tried it when I read that these can be worn without socks and they're comfortable either way. I can't see myself buying another pair of traditional shoes after experiencing the comfort and benefits of good minimalist shoes.

Pros: lightweight, comfortable, look good

Tight toe box
August 30, 2011

I purchased these shoes because I wanted another pair of CrossFit shoes to go along with my Merrell Trail Glove. I've heard that the New Balance Minimus was preferred by many over the Trail Glove for CrossFit. When I first tried the Minimus on I noticed that the toe box was a very tight fit on my average-size foot and that the shoe did not cinch up as securely as the Trail Glove. On the positive side, the shoe is very comfortable and the sole seems a bit flatter and more comfortable overall than the Trail Glove.

Pros: comfortable, lightweight
Cons: tight toe box, lacing doesn't cinch well
