Dries Fast!
Great lightweight shoe, drains and dries fast, soles grip well on slick surfaces.
Great
These shoes are great, however, not as cushiony or as wide as other Nike running shoes that I have had. I won't get this style again for running, but will definitely use them for hiking.
Great Trail Running Shoe
My second pair of these shoes, perfect for nearly every terrain, light but with a perfect stability. After a lot of months with a lot of trails I was very happy to get another pair of these shoes!

Fantastic Replacement for Air Stein II Lovers
After Nike blew it and discountinued the old Air Stein trail shoe with a new model that is clunky and ugly - I almost gave up on them... UNTIL, I broke down and orded a pair of Men's Air Zoom Orizaba Trail Running Shoes. Wow, am I glad I did. They are light, fit perfect (thanks to quick double mechanic function in laces), feel broken in around the foot, but offer super stabiity in off-road terrain. I've used them every morning, in rain, sleet, snow, mud, during AM www.SEALTeamPT.com workouts, and not once has my footing slipped, or feet gotten cold or wet! I now love Nike again, and am ordering another 2 pair, in case Nike bumps it head again and chooses to confuse it's loyal fans with name changes, or evern worst -messing with a perfect shoe!
Incredible - Better than Air Steen II's of yester-year!
After 17 pairs of loving Nike's fantastic Air Steen ACG's... I almost gave up on Nike after they changed the model completely - so if you were like me, step up and buy these instead. The Air Zoom Orizaba Trail Running Shoe look like the old Air Steen's I loved, and can't find anywhere. To my suprise, the Orizaba shoe is even better! I love the quick racing laces with double locks - it allows you to seperately adjust lower and top half of shoe which is a nice touch! Right out of the box, they fit like a glove, and felt worn in like most runners (not their knees) like them. They offer super sopport and protect you in ankle rock rolls fairly well. I had not one blister after 15 days of wearing them through the river, over the hills, and far away on many trail runs. The soles grip happily like a an old country truck heading to prom for the first time. Light and airy as a new diaper on a kid, and sport a great look to boot. I'm ordering another 2 pairs now, in case Nike screws up again, and discountinues a good thing... Try them, you won't be sorry. Note: I did order 1/2 size up, and would recommend you doing the same.
great shoes, great job
the shoes arrived on the day they were supposed to, and shipping war rather quik considering the holiday. They feels great. I went about five or six miles in them to break them in, and came back without any blisters or hot spots.
All Around Good Engineering
I was really debating on getting a shoe with a Gortex Lining. But I also like a light shoe and I needed something for all year around. Nike's Air Storm Crested Butte was about the same weight as the Orizaba but as I like newer technology I looked to Nike's top dog trail running shoe. There was no weight listed for it and that made my final decision. I do like the lacing system so far, but I haven't had a chance to get any dried mud in the mechanism itself.
great shoe
Just received the shoe, and so far, it is excellent.
Excellent Shoe, but took a bit of breaking in.
When the shoes first arrived I tried them on and thought I would have to send them back as they felt to small. However after a few days of wearing them around the house, and stretching them around a bit, and stuffing them with balls and other objects, they were comfortable enough for me to try them out on the trail.
I choose my first trail run / hike of the New year, and headed up to Captial Peak, a round trip of about 12 miles with 2000 feet elevation gain.
The shoes were absolutely fantastic. Incredible grip, extremely comfortable, just perfect for the job.
After starting out with them only loosely tightened to avoid any hot spots, I stopped to tighten them 2 -3 times over the first 30-45 minutes. After that the laces stayed tight for the rest of the 3.5 Hour run.
I havent figured where to put the extra bit of the top lace yet. It was flooping around all over the place until I tucked it under the lower lace.
The two part lacing system works great for my feet which are very short and wide ( My feet measure 8.5 F, and I wear a 9.5 in this shoe)
One problem with my feet size is that I often end up with my feet sliding to the front of the shoe on the descent and bruising my nails. I didnt have that problem with these shoes, they felt just as good going down as they did going up :)

Love Them!
I've had these for about 4 or 5 months now and can't say how much I enjoy them. I've never beena big Nike fan, but got these because of their light weight and extra support for pronators. I'm a big hiker and need a very stable and light weight shoe. I've never been happier with any other shoe. They fit amazing, give great support, are very durrable, breathe well, and look good to boot.
I'm buying another pair right now before Nike goes and changes teh style again and messes with this great shoe.
Ideal for any trail runner
I was very happy with the purchase of these shoes. I run on numerous different terrains, including cross-country mountain bike trails and aggressive canyon assent trails. Previously I was running on numerous gel running shoes, which did not last more than 2 months. I have been running on my new Orizaba’s trail shoes for a few weeks now and have noticed the durability and stability of the show. I really like the quick-cinch tie system for custom fitting (forefront vs. heel), and can really notice the “sticky” outsole when running up rocks. I have also noticed how I am not bringing rocks home with me, thanks to the three-point gaiter. Overall, I was very happy when these shoes arrived!
Great Shoe
I have been impressed with the ACG Trail Shoes in the past, but these are great shoes. Feel much lighter than the Air Zoom Steens, great grip on rocky trails, and dual lacing system a plus!
A fantastic trail running shoe! Light enough for daily running
I just completed Phase II of the Special Forces Qualification Course at Fort Bragg, NC. I purchased these shoes about a week prior, having just enough time to break them in. I knew it was a risk to bring untested shoes out to the rough environment, however, I decided to take them regardless. We did a large variety of run routes throughout the course - going through mud puddles, over cargo container obstacles, in the rain, running on both hardpack dirt and pavement, animal trails, part of the 'Nasty Nick' obstacle course...pretty much anywhere I would never want to take any expensive normal running shoe. The Nike Orizaba handled all of what the SF cadre dished out to us students, without fail. It's a very lightweight shoe, easily used for normal running.
I HIGHLY recommend these to anyone looking for a lightweight, cool looking ;-), tough, no-nonsense trail running shoe for any terrain.
no down side
I actually bought the shoe based on it being an Editor's Choice award winner, and after my very first run, it was easy to see the reasons for the accolades. It's a light shoe and deceivingly supportive. It seems to have all the bases covered in the durability department, they dry fast and are easy to clean. I had initially thought what it made up in durability, it would lose in comfort. Pleasantly I was wrong. I wasn't too hot on the lacing system, but it does get the job done. All and all, the shoe is everything it's advertised to be, and in my opinion that's a rarity.
Nike Air Zoom Orizaba Trail Running Shoe
Extremely comfortable shoe. Feels great on all types of terrain. Durable and looks great.
Great product, really great service!
Have run in only Nike for 16 years. Now I run through the pine forest overlooking the Monterey Bay.
One of the best off road racing shoes I've used.
The adjustability of the lace system, makes for a great fit.. I have a narrow foot, but have spurs and other shoes have hurt just to have on ( solomon) Loved the shoe but it hut so bad I couldn't even wear it to drive toa race !!!!! The Orizaba shoes work well on trails, to road and back to trail, and then to climb etc. with out changing shoes and the same goes for bike transitions.. I'm in the process of buying my 3rd pair just to have 3 to keep trading off..
Outstanding Trail and Off Trail Shoe
I use this shoe for Adventure Racing, and what you have on your feet is of outmost critical importance. A trek or run is commonly between 20 to 70 miles with numerous stream or river crossings. In addition we carry packs weighing 20 to 40 lbs. The shoe offers great support for your feet. You are hard pressed to find a better combination of support and light weight. Weight of the shoe and the ability to drain water is key decision factor as well. It is also a well thought out shoe as it has a loop to hook in gaitors which I always use. The dual lace system is also great because it allows you to adjust the lacing tension over the toe box independently of the arch. Commonly I loosen the laces in the toe box to accommodate foot swelling. There is also an elastic which keeps the quick draw shoe laces organized. I have wide feet (2E) so I buy these shoes in a full size larger than other shoes. My only wish is that these shoes came in wider widths.
Great Shoes!!! Thanks NIKE.
This is a great trail shoe. The shoes grip the rocks just as they are suppose to. I've run in wet and in dry environments with these and while they don't keep the water out, they do dry quickly.
The dual lace system makes it easy to keep them loose where I like (in the toe box) and tighter around the ankle.
They definitely run narrow. I would recommend trying them on in person unless you are absolutely sure of your size for this shoe.
Awesome
This shoe is more than I expected, fits perfect and is very comfortable. After my first run my feet felt very good without any pressure points. Also I ordered several times from Altrec and must say my products arrived in a short period of time to Canada. Great service and great products.
Excellent performance.
I did have to go one size larger than I usually wear.
Light and sticky!
These shoes are light, provide great traction, and drain easily. The innovative laces mean that you'll never have to stop to tie them. I use my Orizabas for running (on and off trail), hiking, and scrambling. The soles are very sticky.
Let me make this perfectly clear. The Orizaba is pure-fect trail
I have a Nike customer for better than 23 year and have my share of shoes. For the Trail and hike the shoe is very comfortable. My feet after hours running on the coarse trail near my home I know I can rely on Nike technology to keep my feet fresh after a rigorous workout. My advice is to make sure the fit is there. As anyone would know the half-size recommendation is a must so you can stretch your feet and not have that "snug" feel in your shoe which causes foot fatigue and later foot cramps. The feel of the shoe is amazing and the looks, well, you'll stand out from the trail crowd. Buy Orizaba. You will know what I mean.
WOW! Great piece of design from NIKE!
The shoe is great. Fits like a glove, with great support. No breaking in required. Looking forward to giving them a good workout on my vacation. They're great for city wear; sure they will be as good on the trails. Cool looking too. One complaint -- the slide mechanism loosens by itself. (I was leery of that when I ordered the shoes.) But can always switch to laces. Also, the elastic band that holds laces on right shoe broke on second wearing. But otherwise, this is going to be a long-wearing shoe. The fit and support is outstanding! Once again, thanks to NIKE for superb design....and to Altrec for great customer service.
Great all around shoe
These shoes fit great, dry fast and look pretty cool. They really grip well, even when traversing hillsides on wet surfaces.
The work well when biking too.
Quick fit no blisters
Recently completed a bike, run, swim, run, swim, run, swim, and run. 18.7 miles of trail running, where you have to swim with your sneakers. I barely noticed that they even got wet and it was the best my feet have ever felt at the end of this event. no blisters. It only took a week and half to break them in. Good trail runner and they dry fast.
Great trail shoe
loved the shoe from the moment I put it on. It has all of the features I look for and seldom find together all packed into one shoe. Feels light and quick while still stable and cushioned. A new favorite.
Orizaba rox
This is an outstanding shoe. I've run in North Face, Salomon, New Balance, Vasque, Montrail...never even considered Nike for trail shoes...and then I started hearing about these sneaks! Whoa! I'm psyched I tried them out. As some have said, they're great out of the box. I've had no problem with the laces, no blisters, they really are very light for a supportive trail shoe, the rubber is unbelievable (also, if you're into style points, you'll get 'em in this shoe!). The only drawback I found is that compared to TNF, Vasque and Salomon, the forefoot protection underneath is not as good as I'd like. That said, this shoe is 5-star rating easily.
Great shoe,,, already discontinued Nike?
I completely agree with the reviewer "Seamus" from August 8th. I loved the Air Steens, then was angry with Nike after it was discontinued and I invested in the Teocalli and the Cascade, neither of which worked well. The Cascade has cushioning, but terrible fit, causing my feet to go numb after a couple miles. Teocalli was too heavy and hot.
Now Nike gets back on track with this Air Zoom Orizaba, only to discontinue it? If you check with Nike, their website and distributors it appears this is already out of their current line up. What's up with that Nike?
I bought this shoe right before running in the longest relay race in the world this past weekend. (Hood to Coast challenge 197 miles) I found that my first two legs were on trail and I needed a good light shoe right away. Bought at full retail from a local REI since I didn't have time for shipping. I took a chance on this and am so happy with my decision. Out of the box I used it in race conditions over 14 miles with no blisters, good comfort, and a fast pace. The laces were a bit to deal with, but after studying them in the van for 15 minutes I could see how you adjust them and then lock down. With this lace system it is possible to set the fit, then actually slip out and in of the shoe like a sock, maintaining your adjustment and not having to re-tie the shoe. The shoe still fit tight enough to not slip, but loose enough to be comfortable. Nice job Nike, now why can't you keep manufacturing this? Don't do it to me again.
Nice Shoe
Very nice shoes. All that sales description states.
Out-freakin-standing shoe
Far and away the greatest shoe I have ever owned. It felt great right out of the box, and after wearing it less than a week, the few minor burn spots calloused over. They're light and comfortable, and grippy as all get-out. They handled the muddy, smooth, slick, wet rock floors of Laurel Caverns (PA) without so much as a slide, and they do dry fast. Can't wait to get them out on the LHHT. The lacing mechanism that I've seen a few people complain about is not the least bit inconvenient or confusing. All around, a fantastic (not to mention great-looking!) shoe. I intend to wear them until they disintegrate. I'm considering ordering a second pair now, so I'll have them ready when these wear out one day.
Orizaba- A must for terrible conditions!!!
I am stationed in Iraq and bought the Orizaba shoes because the running route around our perimiter is made up of loose large gravel/rocks. Basically one pebble away from a debilitating injury...terrible conditions. The Orizaba is awesome. The sharp rocks are now nothing to deal with. The regular gravel feels as if I am running on pavement with the Orizaba. Simply stated, the shoe rocks...no pun intended. This is the shoe for terrible running surfaces!!!
best yet
briefly hated nike when it seems they discontinued air zoom steens...they they came out with air zoom cascade which was more cushioned by not as precise....now air zoom orizaba combines cushioning of cascade with precise footwork of steens with even stickier rubber...happy happy joy joy
Great shoes
This trail shoes is excellent for me since my job needed a lot of trail hiking of hills and climbing of tower. I'm involved in telecom industry..... I just want to have another pair of this....
Get a pair!
Nike has done a great job an this new ACG shoe! Very light weight and comfortable and very tough looking! Kick butt styling! I get tons of complements on and off the trail. I ordered a 1/2 size up. Sticky all-trac sole is awesome. On my first run there were covered in mud and held the ground, on wet slipery rocks and all.
Great shoe
Very comfortable out of the box. Good fit. Excellent shoe.
Great shoe ready to go straight out of the box
Wish they had a gore-tex liner! Nice shoe, lacing system can get tangled but I like to option to tighen or loosen different parts of the shoe
excellent trail racing shoe
A long time Nike runner, the Air Zoom Orizaba held true to the fine tradition of quality shoes.
No break in required. The shoe performed great in uphill trail runs and held the ground well in wet rocky conditions. Only drawback-laces are confusing and tend to get in the way.
Great Gear Addition
I bought this shoe not only for outdoor use but for indoor flash. Fits well, love the quick tie lacing, the dual sector lacing is handy, grip tread is almost enough to trip you so I can't wait to get out on the trails.
And who can beat the flashy colors?
Very light and comfortable
Fit according to size for my foot. No break=in necessary. Held the trail well. Only draw back is not having a secure place to tuck excess elastic tensioners.
Great Shoe - Bad Laces
I have been wearing Nike trail running shoes since the inception of ACG and these new Orizaba didn't disappoint. Their patent "out-of-the-box" feel had me hitting the trail for a 15 miler the day they arrived.
The All-trac grip is truly exceptional and had me thinking that I was wearing approach shoes out on the sandstone of Red Rock.
Very lightweight and highly breathable upper made running in my native desert landscape a breeze.
HOWEVER I hate the laces...without gaiters the lace loops kept getting caught on under brush. Luckily you can remove the quick lock lace system and tie these shoes like the good ole days. Other than that I would highly recommend these shoes.
I just love it!
I hike 5 days in the pyrenées - french side. This shoe is just perfect - you go like on a rail, fast and smooth . I just love it.
Light, Comfortable
These required zero break in time and were ready to run in off the shelf.
They are very sticky on the bottom so they will pick up a lot of road grit on hot days, but that's what makes them good for off roading.
good stability and feel
i bought an 11 and usually wear an 11 in nike so its true to size for them. They adjust easily with the two lace adjusters and i think they work as advertised. I'd like to see wide sizes but these started to feel good after i wore them for a day in the woods. (they felt a little narrow at first but a lot of shoes do to me). Buy em.
jro
Most comfortable trail shoes I ever owned.
The Orizaba shoe fits and performs better than the other trail shoes I have owned.
great light weight trail shoe
very comfortable shoe which grips all terrain well.
Light and flexible for speed.
intersesting setup here
these shoes are interesting, they dont have laces but a pull string style setup that secures the shoes to your feet. Then there is an elastic band to tuck in the excess laces
they're comfortable and not too supportive, and the bottom is VERY grippy
so far I love em, but time will tell how they end up lasting, if it's like my other acg's I'll wear the bottom off of them before I'm done wearing them
Awesome
These are a well thought out shoe. Extremely light, comfortable, and tough. As trail runners, they are fantastic. Sizing is spot on. Sticky all-trac sole is not gimmick. These things grip extremely well....
Comfortable!
This shoe provides just the right amount of arch support. The shoe's material is attractive as well as durable. This has been a great buy for me.
money well spent . . .
comfortable, sturdy. easy to take off - put back on, lacing system takes a second's thought first time around but is very efficient from there on out. breathes well. excellent traction. cool colors. best in class.
A must have!
Excellent traction in a great fitting light weight shoe. Once you break this shoe in you won't want to trail run in anything else. I was worried about the mesh upper but after I got these shoes and ran in a good down pour I found my feet just as dry after the run as they'd been before.
Great Purchase
Great buy, they are very light and comfortable.
Great look's
Worth the Price
Great shoes
These shoes are fantastic. They provide a great fit and are lightweight ensuring for a good running experience. I'm a big fan of the style of the shoe as well. I highly recommend them.
Excellent shoes!
The Nike ACG Orizaba's are lightweight, extremely comfortable and stylish. As a trail runner they stay secure to my feet.
Great offroad shoe!
I used the shoe on an off road (mountain bike) course, and it was exactly what I needed. There were roots, hills, sand and water. The shoe was comfortable and protected my toes from some of the roots and sticks on the trail. The separate lacing; top and bottom, was a great feature.
I normally wear a 13 in other brands, but knew I needed a 14 in Nike(I also use the Pegasus).
Great shoe. Double laics system is very useful.
These shoes are extremely comfortable. The double laics system is useful when you put them on and take them off. Color is great too.
Great shoes
Great. The best running shoes for my trail running. Nice fitting shoe with a good outsole
the sheos are nice for everybody to have
I'm a big hiker and need a very stable and light weight shoe. I've never been happier with any other shoe. They fit amazing, give great support, are very durrable, breathe well, and look good to boot. I'm buying another pair right now before Nike goes and changes teh style again and messes with this great shoe.
Great trail shoe at a great price.
They run a little small and at first felt too snug but after a little break in time the fit is very good. The shoe felt very stable and performed well in moderately muddy conditions. Overall a very good shoe.
Fit and durability a plus!
I love the fit of the Orizaba. Having 2 quick cinching laces allows me to re-adjust the fit as necessary. The shoe is a great trail shoe for shorter to low middle distance runs. I would not use this shoe for a particularly long run as I don't find it has enough mid sole support as I need for a longer run, say 3 plus hours time wise or over 15 plus miles distance.) The shoe is durable and great for technical work on a trail run....where you have to dance in and out of rocks etc.
I like the shoe
Very comfortable and good support. Also like the color!! Only issue - don't like the 2 pull-strings laces would prefer regular laces. Still overall shoe is great!
Nike Air Zoom Orizaba Trail Running Shoe - Better than Expected
The Nike Air Zoom Orizaba Trail Running Shoe are much better than expected. they do run small and one should purchase these trail runner in 1/2 larger size than you usually wear in running shoes. They are significantly better that the last three pairs of Different North Face Trail runners that I have purchase. I was significantly impressed with the All-conditions Nike All-Trac outsole tread with sticky rubber compound that seems to live up to it's name. I have never been a big Nike fan, but these shoes are a vast improvement over my last few trail runners.
comfortable, good fit and look, wears well
I wanted an every day shoe for fun that would look decent, wear well and span seasons. I do lots of running but prefer regular running shoes (NB, Nike Air Structure Triax, Asics) with more medial support, rear cushioning and motion control for my every day 6+ mile runs. I find the Orizaba had held up very well for over 6 months, is an easy fit and has a good look. The cost is quite reasonable and now that Altrec announced above it will have the '06 version this Spring, I will not switch assuming there are no major structural changes. By the Spring, I will have worn the shoe for about a year and it has no major wear or tear.
Very Nice
Great Shoes...but do not like the way they lace
A great trail shoe for the efficient runner.
The double shoe strings are a bit tedious, but the elastic retention strap proves to be effective in keeping the strings from beating/aggravating your feet to death.
The inner lining of the shoe is as soft as it can be and is not as biting on long runs as other shoes have proven to be.
I am usually not a big fan of NIKE shoes, but always have been of their running clothes; these however are a great pair of trail shoes. The ORIZABA serves both the weekend warrior and the true ultramarathoner well, delivering a combination of balance, style, and supreme function at a very affordable price. The only thing that can make these shoes better is if they came with a 3.5 hour 50K time attached to them.
Another Quality product from the folks at Nike ACG
Positives - Good construction, solid traction (sticky rubber outsole makes all the difference in the world), bounce plate in midsole protects soft spots on feet from rock induced bruises. Variable lacing is great for relief on the feet when using different socks for different activities.
Negatives - The removable foot bed is poor considering the quality of the rest of the shoe. would recommend getting a "superfeet" or "sole" insole though....
All in all great pair of kicks - will look to replace these with the exact same shoe when they wear out.
A Decent Find
The selling point of this shoe was the superior tread detailed in the sales ads. I have found the tread excellent. I've also found the overall stability decent. I was disappointed in the lace system designed for the shoe. Specially made laces will need to be purchased when the time comes. The whisker thinness makes me leary to believe that these laces will last for any extended period of time. Using the shoes in an aggressive outdoor manner, has me concerned that a better quality of could have been implemented into the design. Overall, the shoes have performed well for the first 2 weeks.........
Good light duty trail shoe
Good moderate difficulty trail shoe.. comfortable on the first outing. Very sticky sole. Has not replaced La Sportiva Colorado Trail as my favorite trail runner though; the la sportiva is much more stable and just as light and sticky for hard core trails.
Overall, a very good trail shoe!!
A good combination of sturdy construction, yet lieghtweight and versatile. The sole grip is exceptional. Only reservation is that some heavier runners may find that the fore-foot area is too light in terms of support and cushioning. Otherwise, a very good trail shoe.
Nike ACG Trail Running Shoes
These shoes are very functional, and are stylish as well. The draw string laces make for quick easy access.
Thank you,
Scott
Excellent find!
This is the first trail shoe I've bought. Excellent! No break-in period, good cushioning, and fine comfort. I didn't think I'd like the lacing system but it worked very well and actually helped during a 3:00:00 trail run that included a creek crossing. The laces allowed the shoe to expand with my foot and dried quicker than I expected.
Light shoe with great traction
Very light shoe with great traction. Took longer to break in then most shoes, runs about 1/2 size smaller then most shoes. Great Color and style.
good shoe with little problems
Very good running shoe. Very light and comfortable. Only complaint is that the drawstrings occassionally comes off from elastic holder. Other than that, I'd reccommend to everyone.
lightweight comfort
great shoe! comfort right out of the box. I would of give it
a 5 star except i don't care for the lacing system. but that
was quickly fix by replacing with regular laces. alot of people i talked with like this system but it did not work for me. other then that they are the best pair of shoes i have ever owned.
Good looks, lightweight, ok fit.
I'm a novice at hiking, so I don't want to mislead anyone. My biggest complaint is something that everyone else might be ok with but it's a nuance for me. To much string and
do-dads. I just prefer less fooling with all the adjustments for a light weight adventure shoe. Someone more knowledgeable would probably cut the excess off but I am afraid of somehow ruining the shoe. The shoe is getting more comfortable and I have not tested it yet in water. I am use to running shoes so it may not be fair to say that these are not as comfortable, but they are not.
