Used both products on a 15 degree down bag that was losing its loft and temp rating. After using the products, I am happy with the renewed loft of the down. I used the products with a front loading washing machine. The only problem I have encountered is that the bag has a bit of a petroleum smell after treatment. I assume it is from the down proof. I also assume the smell will subside. Also could use better instructions included with the product. I ended up on the company website for guidance.

I have used multiple Nikwax products and have found them all to be superlative. The Down Wash/Down Proof twin-pack is exactly what is needed to clean, refurbish, and renew the water-proofing on winter wear. This product is easy to use, right in the washer and dryer. The one aspect that is not absolutely terrific is the scent of the waterproofing and I am guessing that it is just the nature of the ingredients that produce waterproofing. Good thing is that it fades out and is not noticeable shortly after use. Highly recommend.

Renewed old down coat

My 7-year old down coat had previously been washed in regular detergent, and over time it had lost a lot of its loft. After using Down Wash the coat is actually puffy and looks great. I also used the Down Proof, but haven't yet worn the coat in weather that would test it's water resistance. I agree with the other reviewer that better usage instructions are on Nikwax's website.
