Getting ready for the wet winter.
September 28, 2005
I've just started preparing for the wet, snowy winter of the northeast and this is one of the main weapons I'll be using. If it lives up to its press I'll be happy. I have a couple of soft shell outergarments that may need the extra help this year. I expect very good results.
I will buy it again
December 19, 2003
I purchased Nickwax to restore my drytop used for whitewater paddling. It worked well and was quite easy to apply. I will buy it again.
Nikwax works
January 02, 2005
Works as well as expected. Rain sheds right off my jacket after application. I didn't give it a "great" rating only because the directions were not totally clear on how to apply. I think I applied it correctly, buy lightly wetting the jacket with water before spraying on the Nikwax. It appears this worked fine.
Works, but not perfect
February 25, 2006
I followed the instructions and ended up going through it twice, using about half the bottle on my jacket. The water is beading up at the beggining of being in the rain, but it stop beading after being wet a while. Also, it made my jacket smell like glue, but hopefully that will go away with time. But, the good news is it does make the water bead initially, so i guess that's what it's made to do, it just doesn't bring the garment all the way back to it's brand new state.
Great for tents !

This item works great. It will go farther if you spray it on and use a paint brush to spread it out over the surface you apply it to. Our Boy Scout Troop uses it on the tents we have. Well worth the money!!
Great Product

Great product with a long history of quality. This product is as necessary as capilene long underwear for anybody serious about the outdoors.

It works

This stuff works. I really don't trust any other brand. I also highly recommend the waterproofer for boots and shoes by Nikwax. Fabric and leather care. It does make your shoes darker but it works super well.

Good Product

I used this product on a 3 ply goretex jacket I've had for almost ten years... The outer coating on the jacket had been worn off from years of use. The jacket looked terrible and the breathability was questionable. Although the jacket was still water proof I'd noticed condensation building up inside the jacket. After one treatment my jacket looks brand new, and perfoms as such. I'd recommend this product to anyone who wants to extend the life of their waterproof/breathable outer wear.
Excellent!

It works as advertised and I have used it successfully for many years now. Works well on GoreTex (TM).
Works well in the beginning but wears off easily
March 21, 2005
Works great in the beginning but after 2 or 3 wears in the rain, does not bead up as efficiently.
Works Great!

I'll buy it again when it comes time to need it.

Great product

I justed on my Gortex jacket and it brought it back to life. Sparyed on during the evening....poured down rain the next day....and I stayed a dry as the dessert. Great product, easy to use, very effective.
Pros: Ease of useeasy to do but spotty coverage
June 10, 2005
Nikwax was the product sent to me by Marmot to recondition a Ski Patrol jacket about two years ago. I assumed that they supported its use because of superior performance. I have used it three times on marine foul weather gear and my Ski Patrol outerwear. It is easy to use but even with care in application, I have found that the coverage is spotty. Reapplication helps but not completely. Areas covered well seem to shed water effectively. The odor, sort of an acetic acid smell, tends to be strong initially but goes away after a while. It can be less than wonderful if your gear is left in a closed car or boat compartment, especially in the heat.
Nik wax spray on
January 19, 2005
Just used the Nik Wax spray on. I sprayed the product on my ski pants and parka and ski gloves. Both orginally not water proof. We skied in wet snow and ice. The product performed well as I saw the water beading up on the fabric. As the weather turned to rain, snow, the fabric still performed well. My ski buddies had gloves for over $ 75.00 they still had as much moistier as I had was impressed. I thought the directions were veg. They stated to wet the garmet prior to sealing.? How wet?. They should give more details on the sealing. As I skied I noticed that at the seals I was getting somewhat wet. I will try the wash in sealer next time.
Keeps the Outerwear Waterproof and Me Dry
February 12, 2006
This is one of the best, if not the best, material for replenishing the DWR finish on hard shell garments. I've used it a minimum of three times on parkas, rain hats and ski pants with outstanding results. It's best when a second and maybe a third application is made.
Spray it on, let it dry, it works!
March 04, 2004
Once the garment is clean, using this product is as easy as misting it on and letting it dry! As a first time user, I am impressed so far. I will need more time to confirm how long it lasts.
Works well

seems to work very well but I wasn't sure how to protect the area the coat was laying on/

Fantastic and Easy to Use!
October 14, 2005
I had the opportunity to use this almost immediately after receiving it to renew the waterproofness of several articles of clothing. Not only that, but it rained like crazy just after the application and drying!!! This stuff worked fantastically!! No wet-through, no leaks, no problem! I would recommend this for renewing the DWR of your outerwear shells and rain gear.
Good stuff

I'd use it again!
Does exactly what it claims to...
November 16, 2008
This product does exactly what it claims to. The Wash-In product is generally easier to use for guaranteed 100% coverage (but slightly more expesive per use), but for stubborn spots that are heavily soiled or worn, a follow-on treatment of Spray-On is very helpful. Product just works...

This product completely rejuvinated the waterproofing characteristics of my Goretex liner in my motorcycle riding suit. Highly recommended, will buy again.
Nix Wax
March 08, 2005
Nikwax reproofer leaves a sour odor. I spoke with the manufacturer and they informed me that it contains silicone compounds. The long oily silicone molecule may be good for smearing on car paint finish to keep out moisture but it is axiomatic that silicones should not be used on goretex and PU laminates because they clog the microscopic pores of the fabric and thereby destroy the property of breathability. Revive-X seems to bea better product for reproofing because it leaves no odor and does not contain silicones.
Fantastic!
October 20, 2005
Works like a charm. Some of my shells had a few wet-through spots and using this repaired the DWR without affecting the breathability of the parka, hat and rain jacket and pants. Recommend for all to use.
Works like a champ
October 30, 2006
This product actually works! It has turned my 8-year old, rode hard, 3-pound gore-tex jacket into something like new. I also used this on my ski pants and although they are not gore-tex, they seem to act in that capacity. Way better than scotch guard I had been using. I give it a thumbs up. FYI, According to all the gore-type MFG's you are not supposed to use the wash in type product for hardshells. Stick with the spray on. The wash in product is supposed to work the best on soft shell products due to denier count.
Good product, poor directions!
February 02, 2005
The product did not come with any written directions or brochure. There are directions on the bottle, however, I felt they were vague.
Very good product
June 08, 2008
Easy to use. We treated two Gortex jackets. Excellent result. I estimate that the 16 oz bottle will restore 6 or more garments. Be sure to wet the fabric prior to application.
