I bought these boots on the recommendation of a friend who I sail in the winter with. He swears his feet stay dry and warm. I've worn them sailing 3 times so far in about 35 degree weather and they've been great. Very comfortable and easy to put on. My one suggestion...I wore thick socks and my feet got sweaty on my drive to the marina and then I put the boots on. My feet were cold on that day but I think it was from my feet sweating and then putting the boots on. The other two times I put my socks and boots on right before I went out and they were fine. I know the sizing says to drop down a size for woman but I'm an 8 medium shoe and the 7 was too small. The 8 fits me perfectly. The velcro strap that goes across your foot is great b/c it helps adjust the size even more. Great traction on the boat and the fact that they go up to your knee is great for extra warmth but they are still flexible enough to move around. I was looking for a waterproof boot but I can't report on that b/c I haven't gotten them wet yet but my friend says when he's worn them in the water his feet stay dry.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

My wife and I both bought a pair of boundary boots and found them to be worth the investment. In addition to a reasonable price they would be an asset to any paddler-we canoe-we live in northern Montana, they are warm and comfortable even with simple cotton socks.I went in over the boot last weakend and no water enterd the boot! I wear a size 10 mens and usualy try to get wide shoes for my flat feet but they fit great.I know longer have to worry about damaging my fishing waders.
Great for my purposes

Needed something to keep my feet dry and warm canoeing in spring fed streams in the fall and early winter. Great, comfortable, fit with enough sole to withstand gravel stream beds. Worn with wool socks for toasty warmth.
Great Winter Boots

waterproof & warm

These are neccesary for cold weather kayaking. Feet are dry at the end save for sweat you get in neoprene. They're about 2/3-3-4 the way up my calf to my knee, which is perfect for launching and wading around in freezing cold water in perfect comfort without being unneccesarily bulky during the vast majority of the time when you don't need them. They seem a few inches taller than the older models a few years back, and the extra height is perfect. I don't notice I'm wearing giant boots while kayaking, as the fit is very nice. Not much to say about their use in cold-weather kayaking, as it's pretty straghtforward, and the just simply fit the bill perfectly. And I know I'll lugging them in the daypack in the spring-summer to help ford icy shallow creeks and runoff I get in the mountains, or even muddy cold swampy muck. The cinch at the top would even keep enough water out of the boot to allow going full knee deep or more without getting cold feet halfway across a raging spring runoff. And the tread seems quite durable, and that it would afford very good footing on creek rock beds during crossings. No more turning back at unexpectedly difficult cold creeks in the middle of favorite loops.

I wore my new Boundary Shoes on a cool early winter river paddle and was very pleased with the performance. They were very comfortable. And it was a breeze getting in and out of the water with my new Boundary Shoes protecting my feet and calves. In fact, my feet were dry at the end of the paddle!Pros: Great design, Ease of use
Perfect for what I needed

I was looking for a wading boot to wear with guide pants when I found this version. Didn't realize I could even buy a mid-calf wading boot, but these are perfect. I can actually wear these when launching and loading my small boat and wade deep enough to line the boat up without getting my feet wet. Well made, comfortable and extremely functional.Pros: Great design, Build quality

I bought these shoes for a canoe trip to the BWCA with the expectation of finally having dry feet. Not so! These boots acted like a wet suit - wet feet that warmed up from body heat. At the end of the day, I could pour water from each boot and wring a good quarter cup from each sock. Not once did in over the top of the boot. They did not dry the entire trip. My goal was feet with no water rot - not this trip or with this product.
so far so good

I am heading to Assateague Island in May for four days of canoeing and bought these boots to make it easy to get in and out of the canoe without worrying about cold water. I haven't had a chance to use them yet, but will give them a trial run in California in just a few weeks and will report back. The sizing advice from other reviewers was good -- I usually wear an 8.5 shoe and bought the size 9 boots. They fit well, with a tiny bit of extra room in the toe which will be good if I add a wool or neoprene sock. I have narrow feet and calves and so I really like the arch and calf velcro straps for fit. I especially like the fact that the boot comes all the way to the knee -- I feel this will give me confidence when getting in and out of a canoe and protect my feet and calves from cold water. I'll update this review after using the boots!Pros: Great design, good height and quite warm
Perfect for launching my kayak in cold water!
October 13, 2009
Your Boundary shoe really filled the bill for me for fall/winter kayaking. I can now wade into very cold water to launch my kayak without the discomfort of cold, wet feet. My feet stayed warm and dry even though the air temp was in the low 40's. Now I can keep kayaking until ice forms on the lake! Thanks for an excellent product and wonderful customer service.
Great for cold weather paddle

I bought these so could paddle all year round in Michigan. Our winters get cold. At first I tried a 9 mil wet shoe made for diving purposes. For the first couple of hours they were fine but buy the end of a 5 hour river run I had numb feet. I bought these boots a size bigger than I would normally wear so I could use wool socks with them. I actually had to return them for yet a bigger size and they are perfect now with heavy wool socks. My feet are very warm and dry (down into the 30,s) all day long with this set up! Highly recommed.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use

Fits my purposes!

These boots are exactly what I've been looking for. I tried them for the first time in 46 degree water, launching my kayak. They kept my feet warm and dry - I was also wearing wool socks though, so this was a factor in keeping my feet warm. They ARE waterproof! I like the height of the boots, as they cover my entire calf area. (I'm a female 5'4" tall). I've only used them once so far, so that's why I gave a 4 for durability - I haven't used them long enough to comment on durability. But, I think they'll be durable enough for my purposes. I walked over a few sharp stones, and didn't even feel them. I found these boots run small for size though. They suggest that women order a size smaller - I wear 7-8 so I ordered size 7. Those were too small, even barefoot. But, the size 8 is perfect even with the wool socks underneath.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: runs small for size
Fantastic boots, want to wear them everywhere

Recommended by a friend, we purchased these for kayaking in cold water. They are comfortable, completely waterproof, and great for walking in shallow water on slippery rocks. They run small - I usually wear a women's 5.5 or 6, and since 6 was the smallest (it doesn't seem to come in men's and women's sizes) I ordered those and they fit perfectly. My husband, usually a 10.5 or 11, had to return his 11's for a 12. But they are fantastic and highly recommended.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
These are a great canoe boot.

The boot is well made with good support and the height is just right. I found the sizing to be very accurate. I was very impressed with the customer service. I will be recommending Altrec to my friends.
Great for Beach-launching kayaking
January 04, 2012
Excellent boot. Works exactly as advertisd. I bought a pair a month back and have been using them for launching kayaks from a "beach" or river edge (so no dock) so I can get in up to my knees in near freezing water without without getting my feet wet. Nice and warm (even when filled with water). Works great under the Grizzy Farmer John. Fit is best rounding up (so as a 8 to 8 1/2 in my case, 9 fit best) particularly if you choose to use a neoprene or polypropolene sock.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value
The Best for Me
October 17, 2009
I kayak all over Puget Sound and have tried all sorts of water shoe / boot combinations. The Boundary Boot ended a long search for the right kayaking footwear for me. Firstmost desire in such a boot was that I could maneuver in knee high waters without getting my feet wet (and to straddle launch without getting my feet wet): the boundary shoe fits the bill as they come up just below my knee. I can get in and out quickly, easily and DRYLY. Secondmost is: they are easy to get on and off. Thirdmost they are very comfortable and my feet are always warm(I've worn them non-stop for a 3 day trip without issue). Fourthmost: they are pretty darn rugged. I've hopped rocks, drug kayaks and jet skis , and ran down rocky beaches and they are still in perfect condition. My kayaking partners, noticing them, have all bought the boundary boots. The smaller boots / shoes might be for some people - but the Boundary Boots are for me and have become essential part of every water trip I take: ocean, river, lake & kayak, canoe or jet ski.
