comfy and functional paddling shoe
After trying several shoes over the last 7 or 8 years, these are the best we've found yet in this price range. Shoe is extremely comfortable, snug and cozy, but also has a great grip and supports the foot well in all kinds of situations. They keep the feet quite warm in cold water. Two of us bought the shoe and ordered half size up, which worked very well for us. We both have high arches and slightly wide upper foot. When assessing the right size, keep in mind a snug fit is desirable. Will drfinitely recommend these and buy them again.

First off, I can't really talk about these shoes with much experience since I took them out of the box, put them on, walked around briefly, then began the process of returning them. I for the most part, wear size 12 in most shoes, however I have tried 13's in some sneakers. Anyways, I knew these shoes run snug, so I was hoping the 13 would work for me. They did not......way too tight....and they are not offered in 14. So back they went. Another thing of concern for me was the sole comfort. My main use for these shoes would be to walk on the beach...in and out of the water to metal detect. I want to have a shoe that can be comfortable and durable.....able to walk on rocks that would be typical for beaches....and just walking to my mailbox in these shoes, I don't think the padding is thick enough in the sole because I felt every step of the way. So I cannot really reccomend these shoes to anyone that will be doing a lot of walking, however I don't really think that is the intended purpose of this shoe anyways.

Fit Size
My normal shoe size is 11. My toes were pushed to the end and foot overspilling the side. I have a Florida buddy that fishes in them daily. He loves them. I believe I will as well when sized properly.

NRS Desperado Shoe - Great In & Out of Boat
This is a great shoe. It is comfortable enough to wear in and out of the boat, providing enough traction to scout the river.

Excellent shoes!
I wear these when whitewater kayaking. They're very comfortable and don't fall off like my old shoes did. The treads are sturdy enough for walking on ground and also grip rocks well when walking in the water.

Good all purpose river shoe
I work as a rafting guide on weekends and these shoes stand up to most of the challenges I throw at them. The soles are thick enough to protect my feet from the rocks on the river bottom and they provide excellent traction in slippery areas. They also stand up to the task out of the water and I have used them hiking on river banks and carrying whitewater rafts. So far they are doing the job.

Great Shoe!
When I was forced to switch from canoe to kayak due to knee problems I found my trusty NRS felt soled river boots just a bit to bulky. So I bought a pair of Desperado and was very glad I did. They fit great, like a sock in the boat, like a shoe out of the boat. Nothing will replace felt for slippery river rocks. but this comes real close. Highly recommended.

GREAT !
Finally...I have found the perfect paddling shoe ! And the sole is even sturdy enough to handle the Everglades oyster beds ! Be aware though that women may not need to order a size smaller as suggested.

SOLID!
I own both the sock and shoe and the shoe is great. I use it for diving and kayaking. I like that it does not need a tighting strap.

Great shoe when sailing a Hobie 16
I found this shoe to work great on my boat. It is easy to get my feet under the hiking strap with no buckels or lases. Good grip when trying to right the boat after flipping. I bought a pair for my girlfriend after trying them

This was my first experience buying water shoes and also buying from altrec.com. The sizing was right on, the fit is great. the shoes are comfortable and the service was everything I expected.
