Well worth it.

I am a whitewtaer kayaker. I paddle year round here in Central Oregon. In january, I slammed my forearm on a rock on the Middle Deschutes. It punctured my drytop, and my arm. I ended up with a huge bruise, and eventually an infected abcess. I also ended up very cold and uncomfortable for the rest of the 14 mile trip. At that point, I started looking at elbow pads. I tried a few options, including Mountain bike pads, and a one other kayak specific pad. Most of the ones I tried weren't long enough and had trouble fitting over a bulky drytop. I eventually settled on these NRS elbow pads. They are very comfortable, and offer the longest length of protection that I found. They stay in place well during rigorous paddling. I actually forget I am wearing them. I have also bought them for a few friends. I also know people that have used them for many years and they are still in good shape. I took a pretty bad swim through a big Class IV + rapid a couple weeks ago which included a big impact on my elbow. I didn't even have a bruise! If you are paddling whitewater, of any level, these are an investment you will not regrett.
