Great shoe for the price
April 19, 2011
This shoe has the high quality and craftsmanship that you'd expect from NRS. They slip on easily and the single strap is quick, simple, and low profile. I found they offered great insulation for cold water. Even standing in mountain run off fed rivers my feet were warm and comfortable. They fit to the larger size for me, if you prefer a snugger fit, size them down. The toebox is a little roomier than I would like. It does leave ample room for thick socks under your drysuit, but it becomes cumbersome when walking on slick rocks. As well, the toe area is made from the same grippy rubber as the sole and doesn't offer much protection against stubbing your toes. I'd prefer a harder shell in this area.

highly recommend Sasquatch Water Shoe

this shoe is a typical NRS product - very well made to do what it is designed to do. I especially like that it is shaped like an actual human foot and doesn't have a round toe box. Those of you with the longer second toe may want to go with the monkey-foot shaped shoes. I can't speak to the durability of this product yet, but I'm jazzed to put it to the test. NOTE this shoe runs VERY small. I wear a woman's US size 7.5 and the size 7, which I thought would have PLENTY of room for socks, was too small even on bare feet. I sent it back for a size 8 and it's perfect. I can even get a sock on under, just unfortunately not the NRS Boundary Sock.
Pros: Great design, Build qualityGood for SUP

I own nearing every paddling shoe made by NRS. This model runs small. We had to return my wife's pair as they were so small she couldn't barely put them on (she is a women's size 7 and has numerous pairs of other NRS paddling shoes at men's size 6 with no issue but after a lot of struggle they went on but even looked way too tight). I am a men's 8-8 1/2 and own a number of NRS shoes all in size 9 (except a size 10 Paddling Shoe to go over a dry suit). I can get this size 9 on but only with effort and there is no way to wear a sock underneath. Recently I got a chance to try this shoe in a 10 and it would have been ideal especially if wearing it with a neoprene sock. The seal at the top of the shoe is great. It really does keep out water. These have a lighter sole than most other NRS paddling shoes. I found them OK for kayaking but found them pretty great for SUP (you get a little more foot "feedback" from the bottom of these as the shoe bottom is not really thick). They are my go-to shoe for spring and fall SUP.
Pros: Great design, Build qualityWell made water shoe, but fits small

I am a big fan of NRS products, especially those with their so-called "hydro cuff" which seal out water very well in my experience. The Sasquatch water shoe is well made, provides good foot protection, and has the low profile I was looking for to fit my size 12.5 feet in the small cockpit of my touring kayak while wearing thick neoprene calf-high socks in the cold weather. It's only problem: the wide toe box is uniquely contoured to wrap around the individual toes of one's foot when the foot is in a spread-out, or splayed, position. Unfortunately, the large toe on each of my feet has been permanently pushed to the side by years of wearing shoes with a narrower toe box, so they don't line up with this shoe's indented toe profile. The size 13 I ordered is consequently too small, so I am exchanging them for size 14 with hope of a better fit. I love the shoe, otherwise.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: shape of toe box good idea in theory onlySmall Sizing

Wear a Women's 9/40 and found the Men's 7 quite tight. Will try the 8's and hope for better fit. Return help very good with on-line chat. Was hoping to not have to pay for shipping for new order but alas.
Pros: Build qualityGreat Shoe, Good Price

New to kayaking, I recently purchased this reasonably priced shoe for paddling along the east coast in fall and spring waters. I normally wear an 8.5 in women's shoes and, based on the reviews and the guidance on NRS's website, decided to go up to a 9. It fits perfect! Probably even have room for a pair of neoprene or light wool socks. I probably have a borderline wide foot (though I wear normal width in shoes) and love the room the toe box provides. The shoes are comfortable, warm and appear to be durable and well made. There is enough structure to get me around out of the water without wrecking my feet, but enough flexibility to make paddling comfortable. Good all around shoe! Quick shipping from Altrec, as always.

Awesome Shoe!

Searched for a while to determine which shoe to use for my whitewater kayak... Had a slender pair of Nike's that I got from a guy that works for the US National Whitewater Board that had some extra gear laying around. Nikes felt awesome in boat as they were really flexible, but any time I was outside the boat was a nightmare! Super slippery surface and even thinner sole so walking on gravel or pointed rocks was not fun. NRS Sasquatch shoe is the exact opposite experience in comfort while still having enough flexibility to work in my kayak without a snag. Perfect shoe in my opinion! Thick sole, extremely comfortable, and ridiculously grippy where you need it! As long as this shoe holds up decently I will definitely be buying them again if and when I ever wear them out!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value, PerformanceSolid warm shoe

I wore this shoe on an icy day. It kept my feet warm. The thick sole worked well on the ice covered shore.
