Ultra John
March 22, 2011

Very happy with this product. I am 5'8" @ 185lbs and Carry a bit of my extra weight in my mid section if you know what I mean. With that being said I bought a large and it fit very comfortable and the length was just right. I use this for cold water paddling in conjunction with a middle fleece layer and a waterproof top layer in temps down to mid 30's and it works very efficiently. Next best thing to a dry suit.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value
Cons: none

So far so good
November 10, 2010

First time in a wet suit. Fit was exactly as advertised and the suit was warm on extremely windy day in the kayak. No rash problems as I used a rash guard as recommended by another reviewer. Make and materials appear excellent. I spent over an hour working relatively hard in this suit and remained comfortable the entire time. I'm looking forward to colder weather and won't be worried about the occassional spill while in this suit!

Nice wetsuit!
October 17, 2010

Great wetsuit. Sizing from the NRS charts is dead on. Fits very nicely and moves well with you. I use this wetsuit for riverboarding so it has taken a lot of abuse and after one season shows very little wear. Plenty warm on its own for summer runs, or underneath a jacket for late fall. Love this wetsuit.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value

Good design, comfortable for kayaking
May 10, 2010

Sizes run a little tight so be certain of your dimensions. Large was OK but a little tight for me. XL is way to big. Be sure to get a rash guard when you buy the suit.

not enough information

I really did not have enough detail to judge size or comfort.I am returning the item,

Highly recommended!
January 19, 2010

So I tried on a Kokatat farmer john which didn't fit very well at all. I purchased the XL version of the NRS Ultra John and I have been very happy with it. The NRS suit fit much better than the Kokatat version (I'm 6 feet tall and 195 pounds). The material and build quality are excellent. I've been out on the water a couple of times and it kept me warm and comfy and did not interfere with my paddling at all. I do agree with others that the front zipper could extend a couple inches more for easier relief access when nature calls. However, in the scheme of things, that is a very minor complaint. I would definitely recommend this wetsuit and would purchase it again given the same choices.

Fantastic Wetsuit
November 22, 2009

This cut and stitching makes for a very comfortable fit. I just spent the better part of the day getting knocked around the river, and the padded knees and reinforced seat came in handy time and time again. NRS makes a great product and I have depended on them for years - you won't go wrong with this suit.

Comfortable all day kayaking
May 19, 2009

I especially liked the lining. When worn over a rash guard I never felt clammy or sweaty in with a warm sunny day & cold water.

Works just great!
March 16, 2009

I have recently starting paddling a surf ski. Anyone who has done this knows at first this involves a lot of swimming. Living in the NE and doing this in March requires insulation. This wetsuit along with a Kokatat dry top keep me pretty comfortable during my work outs. I have a stocky build but the farmer john cut provided ample freedom of movement and did not chafe anywhere. I would recommend this model to anyone looking for 3mm suit for paddling.

Great buy

True to size... warm as undergarment (dry) and wet. My first wetsuit and this will be the one that I buy again when/if I need another.

Great suit, better men's features
October 03, 2007

Overall, this wetsuit is warm and fits well. I'm 5'7, 145 lbs, and the M was a snug, comfortable ift. The only problem I have with this and other wetsuits is it doesn't leave enough room for the male equipment. A nice cockpit (no pun intended) with the zipper going all the way down it would be a welcome design enhancement.

EXCELLENT FARMER FOR THE MONEY
September 24, 2007

GREAT KNEE PADS, FIT IS RIGHT BY THE CHART. LOVE THE OPEN ARMPITS,NO RESTRICTIONS IN MOVEMENT. LOVE THE ZIPPERS BEING LOCATED BEHIND THE LEG, NOT ON THE ANKLE. EASY TO DON AND DOF.

Great fit and outstanding workmanship.
November 13, 2006

This is a great fitting, well made wetsuit. Note though that the sizing does run a little small and I would recommend you "go up" one size when ordering. Also, as noted in other reviews -- it really would be helpful if the bottm end of the zipper was 2-3 inches lower. Aside from the zipper though, this is one great wetsuit -- plenty of flexibility in the material but outstandiung protection against the elements.

Comfy cozy, but...
September 30, 2006

While the suit itself is very comfortable, cozy, and ergonomic (e.g., front zipper), I made the massive mistake of wearing it for a kayak paddling outing WITHOUT an underlayer (e.g, rashguard), and paid the price with some really nasty welts (which formed a perfect circle) around my underarms. I also noticed that my wife's (NRS Ultra Farmer Jane) suit seems to have more recessed stitching, such that she reported no such abrasion. The only other comment I would make is that NRS should consider lowering the bottom-end of the zipper, so that easier, uh, access (when Nature calls)is possible (the Ultra Jane's zipper actually goes down and around the back somewhat.

Ultra Farmer John Wetsuit

Outstanding quality and workmanship. Fits like a 2nd skin, tough and durable. If it keeps me warm, it will keep anyone warm.

good fit but...
May 21, 2005

over all the fit is good, the only design flaw is the bottom zipper should go 2 or 3 inches lower to allow for better access.
