Good quality cockpit cover for my Hurricane kayak. Fit easily and it is keeping it dry in the Bremerton winter rains. I know that it will last for years, just by it's appearance. Thanks for a great product.

Bomb-proof kayak cover
March 07, 2012

This cover is built like a tank. The neoprene is even heavier duty than my Grizzly Farmer John wetsuit and I wear that all winter long. It is perhaps almost over kill (particular for my wife's Perception Swiftwater 10.5) but no worries of "caving in" or critters getting in. I suspect I could leave it on even while carrying it on the car (though I am not sure I would at high speeds). As the fit guide on the Altrec website was not detailed enough to differentiate each size, I checked the NRS website. However, the sizing on that website is not correct. I got lucky in that while the NRS website said a Large would fit (and this cockpit sizing was in the middle of the range), the actual dimensions stated on the packaging say it shouldn't fit. However with the help of another guy, we got in on (and it appears to be giving enough that it should be easier the second time). My wife's kayak's cockpit is 20 1/2 " wide by 36 1/2" long. The sizing listed on the packaging is as follows: S - 15.5-18" wide by 28-32" long M - 17-19" wide by 31-36" long L - 18-20" wide by 34-36" long As you can see, the opening was just over the specified range but it did stretch enough to fit (and drum tight at that). Kind of on the expensive side but absolute top quality.

Very well made, sizing is off, no safety clip
June 05, 2013

Very well-made cover, should last a good long time. Gave it 3 stars only because the medium recommended in the NRS sizing chart was too small for my poly Wilderness Systems Tempest 165 cockpit. Yes, it was possible to get in on, but just barely and only with a huge struggle, had to sit on the kayak to keep it from sliding across the ground as I pulled with all my might to lever the rand over the cockpit coaming. Thought it might stretch and loosen a bit with use, but it did not, so returned it for the large size. Now the fit is not quite as drum tight, but works fine, won't come off while driving, and isn't an ordeal every time I need to put the cover on. Does not come with a clip on the release strap, so you might want to add one for additional security on the road.

Pros: Build quality, Cons: sizing was a problem, no safety clip

Good Quality Cockpit Cover
November 24, 2010

I have relied on NRS gear for years, so when I needed a new cockpit cover I picked up this one. It is very well constructed and durable, and holds very firmly to the cockpit while traveling, allowing me to use my kayak for gear storage on my way to and from the water.

Pros: Great design, Build quality
