Women's HydroSilk Long Sleeve Shirt
April 22, 2011

This is my third hydrosilk shirt. I use them to swim daily in open water and for rafting and kayak camping trips. The added layer provides some warmth when swimming in cold water or snorkeling. And the bright color makes sure boats see and avoid hitting me. I love being able to quickily don the shirt instead of slathering on sunscreen. These are very well made. My first hydrosilk took many years of daily wear and abuse before it was lost. I bought my third one for it's bright, vibrant purple color. I am 5'7", weigh 125 and I buy X-small. I want a snug fit to provide warmth while swimming.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, great colors

Great for paddling!
January 13, 2011

This will be great shirt for kayaking. It's a snug fit, but it isn't constricting. I think the NRS size chart is correct, so I recommend going by that chart. I haven't tried it in the hot sun yet, so I don't know if it will be too warm to use as sun protection. Great colors!

Finally!
May 21, 2011

I am as fair skinned as they come, and spent many years living on the coast getting burns (and sometimes blisters :/ ) as a child. I loved the water, but hated the fact that I would pay for being out in it for weeks afterward. When I found out I would be taking a cruise to the Bahamas, and thus getting even closer to the equator, I knew that I would need something to save me from the crippling burns that no amount or strength of sunscreen seems able to prevent. I have two of the NRS rashguards, in pink and in green. I ordered a large which is what size I wear in most shirts, and it fits like a glove. It's also quite breathable and light of a fabric, and one that I will be using from now on whenever I will be out in the water. I can finally enjoy the water and not be plagued with worry that my skin will be redder than my hair the next day!

Pros: Great design, Build quality

Arms tight and short
March 15, 2012

This would work best for a petite. The arm length came up 4 inches from wrist and was so tight as to be uncomfortable. I realize these top are meant to stretch underwater, but still... The fabric is excellent and the workmanship great. I wish the manufacturer would re-design the arms; then I could use a few of these.

Pros: Build quality, Cons: Bad design

Ok fit, great warmth
March 01, 2008

The fit is ok, it could be a bit looser in the shoulders, but perhaps that is just the way things fit with over developed paddle arms! Awesome warmth and style though.

This is a great swimwear top! I wore it when I went snorkling on my vacation and didn't get sunburnt even though I was in high sun for a couple of hours.

non-scratchy

Nice, smooth piece. Non-scratchy like Carve Design piece at seam areas. I was very unhappy to return that piece while paying for its shipping cost. This one is made with nice material and quality craftsmanship.

great shirt
October 07, 2011

this was my first nrs rashguard and I am happy with it. The sleeves and body of the shirt fit a bit snug but i would not have purchased a bigger size. I am usually a small to medium in shirts and got the m which fits good. I wear mine to aquafit and it is still holding up good after many washings.

A must have for water sports
March 01, 2011

I bought 2 of these shirts and used them every day last summer. They are perfect for sun protection while sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, and any other active sport you can do in and on the water. The shirt is very comfortable, and it is quick drying. There were many days when I was in and out of the ocean for 8 or more hours, and the shirt kept me warm while in the water, and cool while out of the water. The shirt offers great protection from the sun, so I never had to think about applying sunscreen. The shirts have been in the ocean for more hours than I can count, and they have been washed lots of times, but they still look new and they still hold their shape. This is a must have for water enthusiasts.

love it!
November 27, 2012

I have the blue and white one and have used it often. I like that it is a generous fit for a rash guard and not too short at the waist or arms. The stitching came out at the sleeve but just sewed it.

Hydrosilk Long Sleeve Shirt Love it
April 28, 2011

I wore this for the first time last weekend at the beach while kitesurfing. First, it's super comfortable and has great breathability. It dried quick and was quite functional. Best part was the it's super cute and I love the flower design on it! Makes me feel feminine while also being an athlete! Highly recommend it!

I am petite with short arms. Fits well, sleeves fit me great but may be too short for some. Goes over my larger hips comfortably. Really like it!

best shirt ever
June 23, 2010

I bought the Hydrosilk long sleeved shirt to stay warm during the winter; now, I use the same shirt in the Florida heat of summer (ok, in the mornings!) by immersing myself in the pool then going paddling. The shirt stays damp and acts like a built-in cooler-mmmmm! Body stays nice and cool!

Great Sun Protection!

I purchased this product to use as a swim shirt. I use it to an indoor pool. I love the design, the quality of the fabric, and the way it fits and the price was very reasonable I usually purchase a size 8 in shirts so I purchased this product in a small. It fits fine. I am 5'7'' and the length is good too. It is not short. Because it goes all the way up to the neck it needs some stretching when getting over the head. This shirt does not have a bra liner so it need to be worn with something underneath. I will purchase another one of these shirts in a different color.

Excellent for swimming
May 17, 2008

It has a great snug fit for warmth. I go for early morning swim in an outdoor pool and the thickness of the fabric is warm enough without feeling bulky. I have comfortable full arm movement doing freestyle and backstroke.

runs small
July 17, 2011

gorgeous pink color but the fit is extremely small. I am 5'10, 135 lbs, lean and athletic. normally wear a 4-6 or size small in most clothing items. The neck was very snug and the overall fit was very tight. Had to send it back.

Runs a little small
March 23, 2011

I purchased both the short and long sleeve HydroSilk shirts. After debating between the small and medium I purchased the medium and glad that I did. This shirt seems to run a little small, so you may want to order a size up. On the long sleeve found the sleeve length to be on the edge of too short, so if you have longer arms this product may not be the best fit for you. The short sleeve is long enough to tuck in dry pants but not too long that is gets in the way. Overall I really like both shirts, they are great on a cooler day as an added layer or as an under layer the days you bundle up.

Pros: Build quality

Pleased Sailor
May 23, 2007

I bought this for my daughter to wear under her dry suit while sailing. She sails competitively and needs comfort and mobility. According to her, the HydroSilk keeps her warm, wicks away perspiration/moisture and allows her full mobility and movement. She is very pleased.

Best I've had.
March 31, 2008

I swm in the ocean when it's pretty cold and this top is lightweight but warm. The fit is excellent. I could have used one size smaller since they do stretch a bit in the water. I like how it fits and my shoulders have plenty of room to move. Couldn't be happier.

My favorite paddling top!
April 15, 2008

This is great! I use it paddling on the ocean (surfski and outrigger); under a bike jersey when it's really cold; running; and even as a non-workout layer when it's cold and windy. The raglan-cut sleeves and the fabric do not bind the shoulders at all. Great fit and feel. Love the pink color! I bought another as a "back up" in case I wreck the current one, and also a short-sleeved one for when the weather and water get warmer.

May 13, 2011

I am new to paddling and this is the perfect shirt for warm days on a cool river. The fabric is very soft and comfortable. The fit is great. I ordered a medium. I am 5 feet, 3 inches and about 120 pounds with curves. This shirt dries quickly and washes well. I've used it twice now, and am very happy with it.

Great rashguard!
February 02, 2011

I bought this in a blue, size Medium and it fit great! I used it both for surfing while on vacation and now for kayaking as a thermal layer under my paddle jacket. It's great, warm, and a really nice color too. I liked so much I bought a pink one for my friend who just moved to Hawaii. She uses it for diving, paddle boarding and kayaking. I didn't really think of it as an under layer for dry situations, but more for getting wet and staying warm and for sun protection. More of a rashguard than a shirt.

Review on Recent Purchase
June 17, 2008

I will recommend altrec to all of my friends, etc. I recently purchased a Pro-tec Wake Paddling Helmet for white water kayaking and I checked to have it delivered in 3 business days, I received it in 2 days. It was fast and quick and I was ready to paddle for the weekend. Being new to the sport, I'm so excited to get started and altrec has helped me with that.

Great Fit, very comfortable

December 27, 2009

This is the best quality swim shirt I've found! The fabric is very good quality, not thin and cheap. No rubbing seams. Dries quickly. Color is beautiful. Fits perfectly, according to their sizing chart. I may never buy another brand.

Wonderful Rashguard
May 06, 2010

I originally bought one in short sleeve. I loved it so much that I ended up buying another short sleeve and 2 long sleeve. They are very comfy and true to size. They are much more comfortable than other brand rash guards I tried before.

Very Happy with it

Great for layering
February 24, 2012

Bought this for my wife after buying one a little while back for myself {though not in Pink, mine's Red :o}. I love the material as it stretches where it needs to stretch and yet is thick enough to provide some warmth. We have found them best used in layering underneath our wetsuits {particularly shorties}. Too heavy to wear in summer but is halfway between a regular rashguard and a Hydroskin Jacket for warmth so good the other 3 seasons. Arm lengths are a little longer than other similar sized NRS products. As other reviewers mentioned, the fit is snug. However, as an underlayer or wherever a rashguard is used to guard against rash {like surfing and boogie boarding}, snug is good. The fit to me did not seem out-of-line with other NRS products nor with rashguards from other manufacturers {like one of my favorites: RipCurl}.

Pros: Build quality, Great value

Nice and Thick
October 05, 2008

Bought it to swim with my daughter and it is really nice and thick. It does get a little bigger in the water but nonetheless easy to swim with it. I am glad not to have to put so much sunscreen and it was a good purchase. Wish it came with swim shorts to match.
