Providing optimal ventilation without sacrificing comfort or support, the newly redesigned Osprey Atmos 35 Backpack carries your load closer to your back so you can log the miles like never before. This lightweight pack design certainly isn't the lightest on the market, but it the most comfortable and superbly detailed. Built with gender specific BioStretch™ Harness and Hipbelt for a secure fit and the AirSpeed Suspension system, the Atmos 35 can comfortably carry a load of up to 30lbs, making it ideal for dayhiking, light & fast summit scrambles, and backcountry adventures. Plenty of pockets keep you organized and dual hipbelt zippered pockets keep must-haves at your finger tips.
Nice comfortable pack
I have taken this pack dayhiking on a number of occasions including Red Rock Canyon in the Nevada desert. The pack is very comfortable and the Airspeed suspension helps keep your back dry. Osprey improved this pack for 2009. There is less of a cavity between the back mesh and the suspension frame. This allows the load to sit closer to your back and thus makes the pack feel more stable especially when climbing over rocks or traversing along a canyon wall. It also makes it easier to pack than the previous version. So far I am very pleased with this pack. I would recommend this pack to others.
Extremely comfortable and durable.....
I've finally found a day backpack that is very comfortable, moderate size and durable. Comfort is the leading indicator of how much I enjoy this pack; space/volume is secondary and extra pockets is next. My first use was a 10 mile hike and it was a pleasure to use.
Very comfortable
This pack is very comfortable . I have used it for numerous day hikes of varying distances and my shoulders always feel great when finished. The mesh also keeps your back well ventilated. The internal frame did make me adjust the way that I pack some of my gear, but it is definately worth it for the comfort. I would definately recommend to others.

great pack
I hike and rock climb a lot and I find this pack to be perfect for both. I use my camelbak bladder with the h2o port and it works great. being able to get different sizes played a big part in my decision. overall, I am very pleased. great fit, great utility, and super comfortable.
Very Nice
I love the cool airspeed suspension system. The pack is light and comfortable.
Awesome Pack
I use this pack for day hikes and overnighters and it does not disappoint. Plenty of room, keeps my back cool, and most of all it is comfortable.
Amazing pack, but not for cycling
I'll rate this pack a full 5 stars. I can't think of anything wrong with it. Both the design and construction quality are impeccable. However, this particular pack did not work for me because I need a pack that is compatible with cycling. When riding, this pack rides slightly higher on my torso, and the top of the frame hits my head and helmet; I actually can't even lift my head all the way, which makes this issue both annoying and potentially dangerous. If you're looking at this pack and you need to use it while cycling, I recommend checking on the Osprey Stratos line instead. The Stratos 24 works for me. It is slightly smaller than the Atmos 35, but large enough for my needs.
Well thought out pack
The back ventilation rocks and when it gets cold and you want a little insulation a fleece behind the back netting works great. The main zipper could be a little more beefy.
Great pack
This pack is lightweight, durable, and very comfortable to carry. Great for long day hikes. The suspension seems like it takes up a lot of the pack's room, but I have found putting my hydration pack in the cavity behind the mesh mitigates this. I have never not had enough room in the pack, even on winter hikes.

Need 2nd compartment
I am serious hiker, two times a week run 20 mile everyweek. I like almost everything about it, but it should have better zippers(strong)9 and the roomly compartment(what they have now for day hike) should be divided by two for stuff less used like a deutor futura 32,36,38....
Last week, I did 17 miles, it felt really great,I did't feel any weight during I walk. I wish I have little big hip belt pocket than now, so I can use snack. Generally specking......good and comfortable, satified.

Excellent Ventilation
This is one great pack. I've been looking for the best relief from a sweat soaked back. I live in the Phoenix area and with the temps we have in the summer, the air mesh panel is a Godsend. Other packs with the chimney panel only work for a little while; so far this one has kept me cooler and drier by far. Additionally, the unique harness straps with their ventilation holes help in cooling and, while adequately padded, aren't bulky.

You need this pack
I bought this to use while commuting on my bike. It is roomy, lightweight and secure. I carry three locks and their weight plus the clothes I'm carrying stay put. My only issue (my problem) is that it is a tad long for my body (I'm 5'11"). When cinched against my waist, my helmeted head pushes against the top of the pack. Otherwise, it's as good as I expected.

Great pack!! Used for 26 days straight
I just completed the St. James Way walk in northern Spain and this pack was just right for all those days of walking. It was easy on the back and it fit all the things I needed.

Excellent Pack
I used this pack on a long day hike. It worked very well. The air mesh back panel was a great addition. It should be noted that heavy loads (40+) are not something I would recommend with this pack. The interior does take some getting use to when it comes to packing. Overall a good day pack and overnight pack.

Excellent quality and durability
Overall, the Atmos 35
is a high quality, durable pack. I recommend it for short day trips in particular. It is light, well-fitting, and the airspeed backing makes heavy loads seem light. A++

Superior day pack.
Some packs just seem right. The right design, weight and quality construction are the things that separate the great packs from the good packs. This is a great pack.

good all around
I bought this for a trip to half-dome. Bigger than my camelback but still able to hold some cold-weather gear if the weather turns, etc. It was very comfortable, but still not "perfect"... The mesh suspension and straps reduce sweat a little, but I still had plenty of sweat under the hip belt (can you ever get rid of it completely?). I'm 6'3" and pretty skinny, so I got the large pack. I'm happy overall.
Great but small
Great workmanship but a small pack due to design that keeps it off your back. Sure as heck that it is comfortable. However, the frame construction does not allow for really packing too much into it. I would say that it only can serve as a day pack (OK, maybe two-day pack at max). Suggest going into 50l size, if you want to take a few day's hike or trip.
Great Looking backpack!
I was excited when I got my osprey pack in the mail. I planned to use it for small day climbing trips and it is perfect. I love that I can put my hydration bladder in the air flow compartment...just wish my hose would feed out from there ...it is a little tricky.
First Osprey Pack and Very Impressed
My first Osprey pack and I'm very impressed. The pack is light and roomy. The trekking pole attachment point and the secondary use of the ventilated back as a storage area are small design features that help this pack stand out from its competitors.
Great Pack!!
The Atmos is a great pack. it has lots of space and is very confortable, the possibility of placing the bladder in two different places is great and maximizes the load capacity, just one thing if you are planning to carry something like a Pelican Case with a camera, put it in the bottom of the pack if not the friction between the case and the frame will damage the pack, I can tell you that from my own experience!!!!
Great Day Pack
I used this every day this summer as a gear bag for my forestry job. Unlike my boots, this bag held up quite well. The only thing that bothers me is that the hip belt rides a little high (above my waist). Overall, the pack was extremely durable and the ventilation in the back is AWESOME!

Great pack
I took this to Europe for a month, and it was great. The mesh back in heat works wonders. My only concern is its size now that I'm back - it seems a little big for a day hike, at least in summer, and too small for an overnight. Still, great design, I'd buy it again

Step 1 - Pack Sizing
All Osprey packs, save the transit bags, are available in multiple sizes to fit a range of torso lengths. To find your torso length, have a friend measure your back along the spine from the level of your iliac crest (the top of your hipbones) to your C7 (the knobby bone at the base of your neck).
Step 2 - Hipbelt Sizing
To determine your hipbelt size measure around your hips, not your waist. A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug; after all it will be carrying the bulk of the pack's weight. The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the pads when securely tightened.
| Torso Length | Pack Size | Hip Measurement | Hipbelt Size |

ErgoPull
Nearly all Osprey hipbelts use an exclusive ErgoPull design. It creates mechanical advantage to provide extra leverage in cinching down the hipbelt. The ErgoPull design also draws tension along the top and bottom of the belt, not through the center, so it distributes pressure more evenly over the padding and relieves direct pressure on the hipbones.
Step 3 - Harness
Osprey Crescent & Luna, Aether & Ariel and Waypoint packs offer interchangeable shoulder harnesses. Harness sizing usually corresponds to pack size, but your best bet is to try one on. A properly fit harness should terminate 2 to 3" beneath the armpit. Webbing should not touch the body. By breaking the hook and loop connection and sliding the harness up and down the backpanel the torso length can be adjusted up to 3". (see illustration).

| Women's | WXS | WSM | WM | WL |
Step 4 - Overall Fit
Once you have the correct size pack, harness and hipbelt, and the torso length set properly, it's time to put some weight in the pack (20 to 30 pounds of well distributed weight will do) and dial in the fit. First, snug down the hipbelt and harness. Connect the sternum strap (A) - position it about 2 inches below your collarbones and snug it down lightly. Finally, tighten the load lifter straps to draw the load solidly against your back. The lift straps (B) should come off your shoulders at a 45 to 60 degree angle in Osprey's ReCurve and Ethereal Suspension packs. In other models these straps serve more as compression straps and ride flatter; they may even angle downwards.
In a good fit, there should be no pressure points and no gaps between your body and the pack. With Osprey's ReCurve packs, final tweaking may involve custom fitting the aluminum stays to your back.
